    1) I tend to update it as things change in diablo, though I haven't seen any changes lately that require any changing. I still have plans to add some things, like another damage reduction column.

    2) You are welcome to use any or all of it in whatever way you want. Otherwise, yes, substituting your dex values for the int column willgive you the right dps numbers, but only if you aren't dual wielding. The spreadsheet so far does not support that, mostly because I haven't played any of the dual wielding classes enough to actually like them as much as my wiz. Also, that will give you the wrong EHP, since Int does give AR, but you can fix that by putting your int value in some AR slot and dividing by 10. There might be some issues with base stats for the different classes at 70, but otherwise it can work reasonably well for a wide variety of comparisons.

I'm not really familiar with EB builds to be honest, and OP didn't post a build so those are my reasonings. I would call AO and FS non-spammable skills, thus I'd go for vit.

If you bring down Archon into a low cooldown(40 sec esque?) then getting items with +skill damage% seems to be like a wasted slot for long term. Also remember that as far as all res goes, 1800 = 84%~ resistance while 1400 is like 80% ish, so after a certain point rolling for different stats like +%health on shoulders should benefit you more.

and if the "toughness" stat shows you something else, keep in mind it counts all res to buff every of your resistances at the same time, but you can only get hit by 3-4 elements at a same time MAX.
I would ignore this post. Going from 80 to 84% resistances means you take 16% instead of 20%, so you take 4/20 = 20% less damage with the higher resists. That's why there's not a true diminishing returns on AR like people sometimes thing.

My preferred gearing method is to stack as much AR and armor as you can find, and keep around 200-250k hp. The higher AR and armor the higher the mitigation you have, which makes your healing better. That means you can run higher torment.

    Minor update:

Corrected the Life% display on Equipped Items and Full Gear Comparison tabs to correctly include the amount from paragon points. Total HP and EHP was calculated correctly but the display was incorrect. It should once again match the value you see in game.

Sure, IAS might not help your EB damage, but depending on other skills, it can add dps to those, so I'd reroll the vit if you use other skills that are spammable.

I hadn't thought about the damage reduction from set pieces and the like. The workaround is to calculate it yourself. Take your final EHP and divide it by (1-DR) where DR is the damage reduction of the set. You'd have to do the same for the elite EHP to get the final amount.

If you want to know your damage mitigation, take x =char sheetdamage mitigation value and calculate as:

    Overall damage mitigation = 1 - (1-x)*(1-DR)

For those calcs, if you have an extra 7% damage reduction, then DR = 0.07.

Example : 1 APS would give 20 frames per tick at 3 ticks per second. That mean if you have 0.95239 APS you would have the same DPS as you would with 1 APS, since the Frames/Tick & Ticks/Second are the same. Then by increasing attack speed to 1.00001 you would gain as much dps as if you had increased attack speed by 1.0526.
If I'm not mistaken, those breakpoints primarily apply to LoH, AP consumption, and possibly to APoC, but your actual dps scales between the breakpoints. I'm not 100% sure since I wasn't the one testing it andthe tests were done ages ago, so I don't remember where they were posted.

As for the debate between Sparkflint and Cannoneer, I run sparkflint because it boosts MLW damage, AT/Dis damage, and Blackhole damage, every time. Cannoneer might deal slightly more damage but that relies on it actually hitting mobs. With disintegrate if you're moving the beam, you're likely not hitting very many mobs with the familiar. Against trash that dies fairly fast, there's a good chance you miss with the last shot or two because the mobs just die. That said, Cannoneer should be better against bosses for arcane users.

Overall I don't think either is a wrong decision and it's mostly a combination of personal preference and build or play style. Cannoneer is probably better for melee builds whereas Sparkflint is likely better for ranged builds.

I'll try to throw around some calculations this weekend, but for now I want to actually play some d3 since I haven't played in about a week or two.

It's because the spreadsheet doesn't account for a base speed of 1.15, so it rounds it up to 1.2, thus you get a higher dps. The dps before should have been exactlyhigher by a factor of (1.2/1.15).

Ah, I thought there might be a weapon with some strange APS. Use 1.15 APS and 15% IAS on the weapon and it should fix it. If not, let me know.

Did you put the +IAS from the weapon in the spreadsheet? To troubleshoot I'll need to at least see your armory, and a screenshot of the spreadsheet or link to the sheet with your stats helps a lot too.

I just wanted to come in here and 'fess up Hydra *can* critically hit. I don't know if Blizzard can. I was wrong about Hydra though.
Last I knew blizzard could crit and displays yellow numbers. I haven't used it for ages though, but what I remember is that it tics 4 times per second and displays all 4 tics. I could be mistaken though, but it's a very easy thing to test.

Personally I have no problems with disintegrate feeling weak. I like disintegrate a lot and prefer it to AT in most situations. The primary downside is that trying to run it without a sig spell can get somewhat annoying, especially if you don't have a legacy SoJ and want to run higher torment, where power of the storm isn't an option.

And regarding Unwavering Will, while the bonus damage doesn't apply until after the time has passed, it applies even to a channeled spell. That means if you have 5 stacks for dynamo and teleport into a group of mobs and start channeling, you will keep dynamo the whole cast and you will gain the UW damage after 1.5s. I believe it was dolynick who tested it and posted on the official forums.

posted a message on Damage Resistance
For wizards (and likely WDs), keeping the % reduction similar is nearly impossible, or impractical at best. Even with our AR increased by our high Int, AR rolls are almost always better than Armor rolls for most wizards (exceptions tend to include those slots that roll 500-590 armor and depend a little on skill choice, like prismatic armor vs pinpoint or crystallize).

In the end, go for whatever stats give you more reduction and don't worry too much about the whole 1:1 ratio of damage reduction (or 1:10 AR to armor ratio people like to throw around).

On a side note, the overall calculation is simply total DR = 1 - product(1-DR_i) for i different damage reductions. So for just Armor and AR, it's 1-(1-DR_ar)*(1-DR_armor)

For armor value on items, only include the total armor shown. That already includes the +armor roll. On your boots and pants you added the total armor to the +armor, which explains the difference.

The vit is because you forgot to put the 666 vit from your OH in the spreadsheet.

If you have any other issues, let me know.
