posted a message on Belial post 1.0.3
Personally, Belial is easier than he was before because he does less damage. Since he does less damage, I continue attacking through the green phase without a problem and do not encounter enrage. I have to pot occasionally and use Furious Charge/Revenge to heal as needed.

I have 14k DPS before frenzy or wotb, my only DPS increasing skills. My defense is 11.7k Armor and about 900RA.

The fight usually lasts close to 3 minutes and I use WoTB twice, with the second WoTB popping when Belial is about 25% health or lower.

posted a message on PvM Arena
I've been thinking about the Arena thing today and I thought it could be a really fun deal for there to be a PvM Arena. Hear me out.

D3 players love to talk about elite pack affix combos. Elite packs can, sometimes, be ridiculously hard to beat without dying. This can be a source of frustration when you're just trying to farm gear, but in other situations it could be a source of fun and excitement. So what if an Arena existed where players could pit themselves against disgustingly hard elite packs for a chance at gold if you win?

A system could exist for "Arena Challenges" to either be randomly or player generated. Once the Arena Challenge is generated, players can see what kind of champ pack(s) they will be up against, how much gold they could win and how much gold they must put down in order to enter the Arena. If you die, you lose the challenge and the gold you put down. If you win, without dying, you earn gold depending on the difficulty of the champs. The difficulty of the challenge and how much gold you can win could be determined by how many people have failed to beat the champs. If a lot of people have failed to complete the challenge, thus losing their money-down, six-figure gold winnings could be in order.

Obviously, care would need to be taken to avoid exploiting this system if the challenges are player generated. Although it would be fun for players to generate the challenges for other players, I think RNG would get the job done just the same, with less possibility for exploitation and with the bigger challenges naturally floating to the top of the challenge list for possible windfall gold winnings.

This system could work for solo or cooperative play, of course. Solo players could pit themselves against multiple elite packs for higher risk (more gold to enter the challenge) and higher winnings. Groups of players could go up against even more elite packs and test their skills in group play, for possible gold winnings for all players involved.

I think this would be a great "end game" system that could add a whole new element of replayability for people once they have finished Inferno.

Again, elite pack affix combos can be extremely hard to beat, as we all know, and it seems to me that even the most ridiculously geared people will find challenges in such a system, and, of course, with such a challenge comes opportunity for great profit.

    Thoughts, comments?

posted a message on A3 without 40% block?
    Quote from laydownx

I honestly feel block is way overrated. A3 is no problem for me, and am also doing a4 with 5 stacks. Here's my stats:

And this is with the enchantress:
    http://tinypic.com/v...pic=28u5uds&s=6

Key is dmg dmg dmg, while having good defensives. My weapon has 610 dps, but 1150 LoH which cost me a mill. My dps in full rage is above 21k. Get some IaS, a crazy LoH weapon and your good to go.

Looks like attack speed and LoH are doing wonders for you. Good to know. Currently, I have IAS on my gloves and one ring and Life on hit on my weapon and amulet. I'm looking to upgrade my other ring, it's pretty bad atm, so I might try to find an IAS/LoH/RA ring. I've been hesitant to replace that ring with anything other than a justice lantern, though...but if IAS/LoH will get the job done I'll do that.

ive seen videos of 2h barbs clearing Act III & IV and thats 0% chance to block

I don't doubt it. Right now my shield isn't really doing a whole lot for me in A3, so I can see how if I had 50k+ DPS A3 might be possible.

The problem is, though, that Attack Speed and Crit DMG/Chance gear is expensive, too. Finding the right gloves for that build, alone, is probably just as expensive as buying a Stormshield is for a sword/board build.

A lot of people have "cleared" A3. When you take a closer look, though, you notice that Tyrael was the one doing the clearing and half of the champ packs have to be skipped entirely.

Not talking to either of you, specifically, just saying.

posted a message on A3 without 40% block?
I've been gearing up for Act 3 for the past week and, while I have vastly improved my character, surviving in A3 seems to remain out of reach.

My mitigation is very good at the moment; the only thing I am really lacking that I see a lot of others have is a high % block (Mine is 27 on a 2700 Aegis)

So, are any of you able to do A3 with only ~30% block? I ask this because achieving 40% or more block is probably the most expensive gear investment for barbs right now, so I've been hoping to avoid buying such expensive gear until I can farm expensive gear to sell from A3.

    My character:

I've been thinking about a ~15% String of Ears as a next possible purchase, but it's hard to justify Melee only mitigation, even if it's big. I may buy it anyways, though, since I can't even survive vs most A3 Champ melee alone, nevermind molten/chains/mortar/electrified/desecration damage.

I realize that my %block isn't the only stat that isn't quite A3-ready, I'm working on improving my RA and LoH...I still have a few item slots to improve. It would suffice to say, however, that getting my RA to 950+ and LoH to 900ish won't make me A3 viable, I can be sure about that.

    I started diablo 3 on first day in first hour.So lts say it is 1 month behind us and i acumulated total of 30 milion gold.All of it went into my barbarian gearing . 40 % blockchance,37 k hp,17 k dps,1k all resist,76 % dmg reduction,10 k armor AND STILL i have probs act3+ ( inferno )

    gl hf

I'm in pretty much the exact same position as you atm, except I don't even have 40% block yet.

I've been putting off paying out the nose for legendaries for as long as I can...it seems like it's just unavoidable as I still get totally smashed in A3 even though A2 is extremely easy. I'm not looking forward to farming for a week just to buy one item (before I was averaging about 1 mil per day and buying an upgrade every other day or so), but it looks like that's the only way I'll get in to A3 since I'm so far from it right now.

I feel like I've been unlucky on drops for selling, though. The highest value item that I have sold on the AH so far was only 800k, while I have friends that have found many multi-million gold items while farming. I continue to do 5NV Kulle/Belial runs in hopes of that windfall item that will fund my entrance to A3.

    Quote from Snookey

A general advise: don't try to get str/vit/res on all your items. Instead for example search for one item with high str/res and another one with vit/res, so the stats will be the same in total. By this, you will save a lot of money early on.

Yeah this is really good AH advice, I do this also and there are some very good deals to be found on items like this.

    Sacrifice DPS for armor

Your shield sucks. A 25% block Aegis, which blocks much less damage per block, would block more damage on average. It's not worth it to have such low block, even if your shield is very high level. Just go buy a shield with >25% block and at least 50RA.

    Get more vit.

Really though, with your gear you could totally own inferno right now with a different skill and passive build. You have 3 defensive passives available to you and are using none of them (Tough as Nails, Superstition, Nerves of Steel). You aren't using War Cry with Impunity, Furious Charge with Dreadnought or Leap with Iron Impact. Having passed up all of these opportunities to stay alive, it shouldn't be a mystery why you are struggling to stay alive.

The fact that your dps is 18k should make the transition to a more defensive build very easy. Try it out.

I suggest replacing Call of the Ancients with War Cry/Impunity right away.

Things with less than 50 RA are tough to sell.

That's really good block % and stats, though.

It'll probably sell, but not for much...maybe 1 to 200k.
