I myself hope they come up with a way to buy crafting mats. To me, that would be most logical. Or, like some of the games I play on my iPhone, when I want to upgrade a defense and don't have enough gathered materials, I use gems (gold) to cover the costs.

Or it would be nice to use gold to purchase buffs. Here are some examples:

    1) Magic Find - Increase magic find by 300% for 8 hours – Cost: 1,500,000 gold

    2) Bonus Experience - Increase bonus experience by 1,000% for 7 days – Cost: 5,000,000 gold

    3) Increase crafting materials - Arcane dust, veiled crystals, and reusable parts by 10x when salvaging items for 7 days – Cost: 2,000,000 gold

    4) Increase defensive abilities and stats for 10% for 1 hour – Cost: 1,000,000 gold

    5) Salvaging ancient items has a 50% chance to give 1-5 more Forgotten Souls for 1 hour – Cost: 500,000 gold

    6) Purchase a 5th passive for 1 hour – Cost: 5,000,000 gold

    7) Trade an account bound item to a friend or clan member – Cost: 2,000,000,000 gold per item and the cost can be split between trader and receiver (although, this might bring back issues from the gold/rmah in the past)

I just think it would be cool to purchase different types of buffs but make it so they aren't too overpowered, but still highly useful. Can also restrict it to one buff active at any given time and maybe a cost to remove a buff and apply another. Also, make the buffs character specific and not account wide.

Just my thoughts. I'm sure they'll come up with something lack luster like just increase our repair bills by 10,000%.

Heck, maybe pay 25,000,000 gold to instant level a character to 70.

OR, for WoW players (or even other related Blizzard games) use your D3 gold to pay for game time for WoW, a mount or skin for Heroes of the Storm, decks for Heathstone, etc. I know Blizzard is trying to add more links between their games.
