posted a message on Black Weapon / +Elemental Dmg
I don't know the answer to your first questions, but testing has shown that Thundergod's Vigor's proc IS increased by +% lightning skill damage. I've seen reports that Odyn Son does as well, but also seen it said that it doesn't. On the other hand, Thunderfury's proc does NOT scale for sure, neither does Fulminator, so the reality is... some things scale and some things don't. For whatever reason, there's inconsistency and Blizzard has been silent about why that is, so far. Need moar testing.

As for a weapon that simply has +fire damage as its extra damage roll (as opposed to +black damage), no, +% elemental skill bonuses do not scale that at all. The only thing that has any effect on a weapon's bonus damage affix is the Crusader Holy Cause passive, which boosts the damage of a weapon with a Holy damage affix by 10%.

Odyn Son. The proc is brutal, and if most (if not all) of your damage is lightning damage, then it still wins out in damage over the Fulminator. 15%>13.2%!

It's not the weapon dps by the way, it's the strength. If you haven't rerolled that Odyn Son, move the attack speed to str.

    Crazy like SoH? *cough*
Hopefully more like intentionally crazy; SoH's problem was it proccing 2x as much just by being in your OH, essentially. I'm thinking crazy more like... Lut Socks+Earthquake leaps, that sort of thing. Game changers, not just more damage.

Crazy stuff like the most powerful D2 ladder-only Runewords could bring to the table. Talking things like 'duplicates all of your pets' or 'drops a Fist of the Heavens on your Smite target' or something ridiculous like that. Whatever lunacy Blizzard could bring to the table with a very rare, ladder-only legendary.

Okay, fully leg'd with GOOD legs, lol @ your gear
You would need nearly 12k dex to have 55% dodge from dex.

I've seen that one before, it's a bit rarer than most though.

I wish they'd randomly just shove a shiny new tile into the existing sets every couple weeks, spice things up a bit. It'd be a way of adding 'content' that doesn't necessarily mean much, but would be pretty nice for the sake of variety. Going through an area and saying 'woah, never seen this before' would be cool.

    - No advantage to playing Ladder (Ladder-exclusive stuff in D2, but that might come aswell and turn out to be a big incentive)

They've specifically said that there will be ladder-only legendaries, so that's the advantage right there. Here's hoping they're pretty crazy and innovative as far as legendaries go.

Because bad luck can instagib you. Dodging a hit is nice and all but you should never rely on it. You need to actually be able to take hits... or do so much damage you never get hit in the first place.

I imagine they'll get fixed quickly in a ladder. Blizzard will very clearly be able to see on the ladder stats if somebody is doing billions upon billions of xp per hour, magnitudes greater than somebody playing 'normally,' and will be able to simply check in on that player to see wtf they are doing, and can take pretty direct action following that.

I'm not too worried about it breaking the ladders.

You cannot gamble the new, level-70 only sets from Kadala. That includes things such as all of the class-specific sets (NOT including the class-specific sets that could be found at level 60), and I believe also includes the new non-specific sets, such as the Invoker set.

Chantodos could be found at 60 and is not included in this pool. Eventually, somebody will explain this kind of thing for the 47th time and it will stick.

posted a message on Grinded T1+ for over 12 hours straight = CRAP
10 minutes into level 70 I got a near-perfect Eberli Chalo shield that I'm still using now in T2/3. Minutes before that, I got an even more perfect Blade of Prophecy, both in normal. Since then, I've gotten a perfect Blackthorns chest, a perfect Magefist, and a fantastic Witching Hour, all in normal or T1. Today, I did a T1 rift and got 3 crappy legendaries, including a mediocre Shafer's Hammer. Yesterday I did a dozen T2 rifts and got maybe 1 legendary among all of them, a dumpy Wailing Host ring.

And the day before that, I was getting a legendary every 5-10 minutes for almost an hour straight, but every single one was utterly garbage. Immediately after the Kadala buff, I spent 1000+ shards and only got a single crappy leg from her. My buddy spent the same amount of shards and got something like 10 different leg gloves and helms. So other than my first day or so at 70, I've gotten mostly nothing but crap. Most of my gear right now is crafted - Asheara set, Helm of Rule, Reaper Wraps, all crafted stuff. Farmed for 5 straight days to get halfway decent Illusory Boots and a meh Gradeur ring.

RNG is RNG. RNG will continue to be RNG for as long as RNG is RNG but RNG is definitely not fanboyism. RNG does cause people to whine when it doesn't RNG in their favor, though. I see some people who've played less than me and have full 6-set of the new sets, whereas I'm sitting on just one new set piece that I can't even use, but... RNG is still RNG. I don't whine about it because I know that it's just luck.

Perhaps you aren't farming efficiently? 12 hours doesn't mean anything if you aren't being efficient about it. Or perhaps you're just unlucky.

posted a message on Holy Wrath - Fist of Retribution - A Holy/Lightning Damage Guide
Currently doing this build on Hardcore with a Blade of Prophecy and MAN is it fun. Currently on T2, but in a group I'm plenty confident I could bring it safely into T3. I feel very dangerous going without a law, but I've somewhat mitigated that by only popping AC on packs with Frozen, Arcane, or Barbed Lurker groups.

The only change I made for Hardcore is rolling with Punish as my wrath generator instead, as the 15% block I get off of it is very important to me, at least until I've got a Justice Lantern. No Holy weapon means I'm not running Holy Cause either, because Renewel (13k healing per block) is just WAY stronger for healing with a high block rating. Against Electrified or Fire Chains packs I am, for all intents and purposes, immortal. It's pretty great.

    posted a message on Runewords - Duping - Droprates - D3 Implementation
Runewords would be a bad idea, in part because they were a humongous hassle. And our characters aren't really on rails either; builds are hugely varied right now. Yeah, the endgoal is generally to fill your character sheet with legendaries, but it's a pretty big variety of legendaries. With Runewords, you would actually get *less* variety, because suddenly you'd have to say 'well I MUST find a way to fit this runeword into my character, so I've got to find a way to still equip other stuff that I want in addition to it...' And then you actually end up with less choices, because perhaps you want to complete a set bonus or something and the runeword is in a slot that forces you to work around it for a set bonus, effectively eating up four slots on your sheet or something.

But that said... I think some kind of expansion on socketable things is advisable. Right now there's just not enough variety at all in gems. Diamonds helped, but not enough, not even close. For one thing, crit damage is still far and away the best choice. Nothing else comes even close. The answer is NOT to nerf crit damage though, but rather to make more strong choices. Diamonds should give stronger elite bonunses than they currently do, and rubies should have some additional power added to them - perhaps a metric crapton of LoH in addition to their damage - and amethysts should do something TOTALLY different, since LoH by itself is just no good.

All that and just add more socketables. Hell, add legendary socketables that let us socket procs! And while on the topic of sockets, just automatically allow us to socket a weapon because a socketless weapon is essentially trash anyways.

posted a message on WTB more density in Rifts
I think right now the scariest thing you can see at an extremely high density is when you are going down a corridor and run into 20+ wasps. It's a lot of bullets to dodge... and honestly, that kind of thing is a lot of fun. I'd love to have more 'oh shit' moments and back out of a room because I wasn't expecting to be accosted by a couple dozen executioners and their 30 winged molok friends.

Speaking of winged moloks, why do I get the feeling I've never actually seen a molok in a rift, other than the guardian one? Am I high and just not remembering them?

posted a message on WTB more density in Rifts
I kinda want it to be high density no matter WHAT mob types you roll up. Like... there's no reason you couldn't just walk into a room and be like OH SHIT TWENTY MALLET LORDS, but no, if you get mallet lords you know they'll spawn, at most, in groups of 2. Makes me sad!

I want to bust down a door and run into a room filled with wall-to-wall Golgors. Why? For the glory of Sata- er, Diablo of course!
