Diablo 3 is neither broken, nor dying

Actually, you're right. This is more of a list of my grievances with the game, rather than the game actually being completely broken.

Concerning "value" of playing video games: softcore and hardcore Diablo are different means to the exact same end - to be entertained. This comes in a wide variety of formats, from basic thrill of the hunt, to socializing, to adrenaline-pumping fights to the death, to ecstacy from finding that incredibly rare item, etc. That is the end-all, be-all for gaming. Nothing more, nothing less. Your argument that hardcore does not meet these criteria because you lose your pixels at the end is not only flawed, it's flat out wrong.

And this is where you are wrong. People play games for different reasons. A lot of people don't play just to "have fun" and screw around. Many people play to win, others play to make money, some play because they like having their efforts rewarded in the end. This is where hardcore falls flat.

Note: I do not deny that some people enjoy wasting their own times, and from that enjoyment they derive a sense of satisfaction with hardcore diablo. I, however, am not one of these people.

If you don't play hardcore in Diablo, you are wasting your very own time. Ha, you lose.

If you play just to be rewarded at the end, play some single player console games that can give you that in 8 hours. Diablo has no "end", really, unless you consider getting to level 60 or clearing Inferno one. And if that's the case then you should just quit after that "end".

Anyway, you really don't seem to understand the concept of hardcore at all so I won't continue trying to get the point across, enjoy wasting your time on normal.

HoC is fine and needs no buff. How would it upset you if they didn't buff it? It's not like your current item gets buffed if that was the case since it wont be retroactive.

posted a message on WD: do you think we will be dissapointed with 1.0.4?
Do people honestly think that VQ+bears right now (1.0.3 state) is the only viable damagebuild the wd's will ever again have, and no alternatives will rise in 1.0.4 because just that one single spec is getting a slight nerf? Even though they are buffing every other ability? But you just want VQ+bears because it's so convenient to keep 4 spells on cooldown and use them when there's no mobs in sight? It's so fun?

do you guys wanna hear from the #1 WD in the world in HC? ok, so here's my 2c:

WD is so OP as it is. really depends on how you play it. i can tank, i can dish out solid amount of damage, and i can cc quite well. some skills are underused, i agree. but even if they buff them, WDs are still going to be a skill-based character. better players are just going to be better than most, even than most classes. so most people think WD are bad only because they are bad at playing it. so for me, no changes is ideal.
Why should we care about #1 HC DPS that's too afraid to leave a1? The #2 dps guy has full cleared. Of course you have no problem in a1, a fresh lvl 60 can faceroll a1. You don't have any experience past a1 on any character (at least on that account) so your opinion has no merit backing it.

    i'm pvp-doctor.

Hardcore pvp-doctor with no pvp in the game, that must be fun :P

They are buffing them exactly because nobody uses them. After buffing they will be so good everybody will find new spells to use. And CM/WW will still work but not with any scrubby gear you might have.

posted a message on 1.0.4: The end of Critical Mass?
Nobody feels the same, at least of those who have any sense. Remember how it was the end of IAS in that one patch? How nobody would ever want it again? Well... Didn't seem to happen. It will be fine for people who have the adequate gear for it, it will probably be more difficult for people in subpar gear anyway so it doesn't matter, it just makes it more balanced.

Guys, it's not RIP. Just like IAS fix wasn't "RIP IAS" or "RIP Demon Hunters"... Learn to live with it. And that's not to say the WW/CM build won't work come patch, it will probably just require a bit more effort actually instead of rolling your wizard faces on the keyboard while mobs stay permafreezed and die.

    Quote from Boss_Hogg

Why do people call it DPS (damage per second)? I always called it "damage range", like it was displayed in Diablo II. Why would you care about how much damage per second you deal, when there are abilities that deal damage over time, burst damage, and various other things like life steal or crits. Maybe I'm just old school, but when did it start being called DPS?

Because the Damage number in Diablo 3 is effectively DPS without counting skills of course. That's why. Damage range is so much longer to write than DPS so why not?

As long as they don't obsolete or trivialize the MF on existing gear. I just completed a complete re-gearing of my monk today to the tune of 30M gold and every piece that could have MF has it. If that affix becomes suddenly useless I'm gonna have a cow LOL. Not that my gear still won't be good but I could only imagine what better combat stats I could have had without paying the MF premium on each piece. Having said that, I'm excited to see what they have in mind for us.

I did the same on my DH with every single piece costing 30M or more :(

I doubt though it's anything similar to the IAS fix because IAS was completely ridiculous before the change, sucks for people who got weapons and saw the weapon DPS drop but wearing only blue items with nothign but IAS and MAYBE mainstat was ridiculously overpowered and as a DH I'm glad it got fixed.

posted a message on Dealing with Reflect Dmg Afflix
I just have two 900 dps 1handers with +900 life on hit each and switch them if I see a reflect damage mob, my damage drops to about 45k and with that the ~2k life on hit is enough to almost completely negate my dps and I can just nuke normally.

OPs problem is probably badly chosen gear, skills or a combination of both. He should be able to move out of the fire since he's played WoW aftera ll..

Great tool, very nice looking and easy enough to use, thanks!
Gives a more accurate DPS than my spreadsheet, no idea where I'm rounding something wrong though... bleh. Sheet gives 14 dps more than in game, your tool 0.13 DPS less than game so near perfect.
