posted a message on Odeg the Keywarden in Fields of Misery
After collecting 7 Keys of Terror from Bastion Keep, I decided to go after the Infernal Machine. Please confirm: Since you need 5NV to even stand a chance of getting the key from Odeg in the Fields of Misery, and you don't want to find him without the NV, that would mean I'd have to first do the Broken Blade quest (the one after the Khazra Den one) so I can accumulate all 5NV before I enter the Fields of Misery. At MP5 that should take me to Wortham before I encounter 5 champion packs. I guess I could do any quest in ACT1 as long as it's after Khazra, right?

PS: I've killed him 4 times with no key, but only one of those times did I have the NV required.

stop picking up blues, and yellows less than 61 ilvl.

Blues have always been a waste of time and even with that ilvl 63 stats anything less than 61 doesn't have high enough base armor or dps to be worthwhile (exception being rings and amulet, always pick them up).

I know it may feel like you will make less, but trust me one thing everyone how can make a decent amount of gold has in common is they dont waste time on items they know will be trash.

Also familiarize yourself with other classes stats and nitches in gearing, you can make a lot of gold off rares selling in the 100k-2m range. Oh and don't be greedy with the items you do put on AH, 85% of auctions expired cause some idiot thinks his item should be worth more than it is, expired auctions don't get you anywhere.

I am the most systematic AHer in the game! Of the three pages of rares I generally have at the end of the run, maybe 5-6 are even worth considering for pricing. I know all the nuances of what's needed by my and other classes, and I start every auction at the lowest price in the range, then half it 12 hours later and then bargain-basement 12 hours after that for a flat 200k.

posted a message on Romancing the Legendary
It’s been a particularly difficult run. The maniacs seem to come out of nowhere and catch me when there’s a labyrinth of tunnels behind me; I’ve never seen so many range skellies, and I thought Blizzard wasn’t going to have anymore desecrator-jailor-waller-arcane-plague-illusionists. I’ve got a bandage on my wrist for the carpal tunnel, my thumb is sticking to the grime on the side of the mouse and my index finger is cramping.
But then it happens: in the middle of a gang of forty skellies, a pencil thin amber column of light. I blink in disbelief, I’ve only seen this a couple of times before. Please, let me kill the last of these skellies and not disconnect! The last of the mobs is dead and I wait to see that nothing else is coming. I run over to the source of the light, and there it is. Between the Exsanquinating Wand of the Depressed Wizard and the Less-than-Exceptional Aegis of the Frustrated Blasphemer is the word ‘Gloves’. Simple, elegant and orange. I pick it up and open my inventory to see if it really is there. I dare not identify it.
I’m in the 2nd level of the keep, and steel myself to continue my journey at least to Ghom. All the while, I’m thinking, “I could really use new gloves” … “I could really use new anything, for that matter”. Even if I can’t use it, maybe this legendary will be one of the 200,000,000-gold items that I see by the hundreds on the AH and wonder how other people always get them. If it is, then I can get an Immortal King something. I wonder if I’ll be able to afford the IK chest?
It seems like hours to finally down Ghom, and I portal to the Keep. I sell off the blue items (yes, I do pick up everything), and I get all the rares from the stash. I strategically move the legendary so it will be the last thing I identify. The rares are the usual crap: a dozen crossbows and quivers, most gear has no primary stats and most weapons wouldn’t be suitable to kill the Skeleton King on normal. Finally, the legendary … Tasker and Theo, ilvl63! Sounds good, right? Seven stats and a socket, pretty good? So the primary stats are only half what I’m wearing now, but the armor is twice. And maybe that 2000 extra health from globes is good for someone.
I log out to the AH and search for similar. 25 pages of Tasker and Theo. I sort by price. The cheapest one is 50K. I type in the strength and vitaliy … 50K. I type in Fire Resist and Attack Speed … 50K. Finally, I type in Has Socket … 60K! 60-f..king-K!!!! I rush over to the fat guy, and before he can say “My people have no homela…”, Tasker and Theo is no more. Damn, my wrist hurts!

11.5% LS? whoa that is overheal like you said :) do you even die?

Remember, 11.5% in inferno is really only 2.3%, but when you're in the middle of 20 skeletons and hit REND, you are pretty much invincible.

Roaring and whacking away toe to toe instead of whirlwinding like a dervish is my idea of a Barb :D True i might die a bit more often but i have more fun and i just need to get some LS somewhere :D

You might try Bloodthirst for while and see if you like having the higher LS. I played it with 8.5 on gear and weapons and 3.0 from it, but with 11.5 it's really overkill --- or maybe, overheal (lol).

posted a message on Quick question about attack speed ...
From what I understand about IAS and weapons, the charted Attack Speed per Second on my character sheet will not change regardless of what speed my offhand weapon is at, correct? However, in reality during combat, the speed of the offhand will effect every other swing, correct? Which means, that it does make a difference in DPS if the offhand weapon is as fast as possible ... am I correct 3 for 3?

Hello, thanks for your post, is nice to see other builds than WW/sprint ones.

I think that you need a better offhand with at least 800 dps + crit + sock to maximize the dps you deal with frenzy.

You try to use Maniac rune for Frenzy? For me is the best rune for Frenzy by far and with Rend and HotA you have a really huge AoE. Also I think that maybe you are loosing many DPS with Brawler because when you figt versus Elite packs or bosses the bonus from Brawler is totally lost.

Good to see you back in the game, Istvan!! As to your points: I'm forever looking for that offhand --- but with LS and about 25m+/- to spend, it's limited. I did run with Maniac for a long time and loved it, but I needed something extra against those range guys ... and since I switched, they have been tamed. I tried HotA --- to each his own ... not for me. I'm particularly interested in your comment about Brawler: I can see it being useless against single mobs ... but against packs? It seems to work like a charm for them.

I'll consider all your suggestions ... plenty of runs ahead for the last 70 PL --- ugh!

This is a work in progress, but I'm having great fun with this build. I wanted a hybrid build that would allow me to tank/melee most mobs and also kite a few that might be a bit tricky. I'm farming ACT3 at MP4 about at walking pace --- so it's definitely not sprinting. But for me the pace is perfect and I like acting more like a traditional warrior (no offense to my WW buddies). I will start on MP5 soon, with a bit more DPS --- need to get more Strength in my gear.

PS: for those of you who enjoyed my comments on MF from other posts, I am now getting Lengendaries at the pace of about one every other run of ACT3, but I've yet to find any more valuable than vendor trash [sigh!!!].

Thanks, guys ... that was the answer I needed. I thought I'd start at ACT1 with MP4 and see how it feels. I didn't want to waste building NV by restarting the game if I got unpleasantly surprised.

posted a message on Monster Power and Act1
In a casual read of what monster power does, I didn't see anything about the relative differences between monsters in Act1 and Act4. Special abilities aside, are the monsters I encounter in Act1 a good indication of what I'll face in later acts, or are they relatively easier just as they had been before 1.0.5? Is the Skeleton King of equal difficulty to let's say Zulten Kulle or Magda?

    Quote from fer

I suppose a great deal from your damage output comes from rend and revenge, maybe you could put an approximate number on that. And in that case i am confident to say that maniac will be a bigger overall boost to damage output.
In static 1v1 fights however, sidearm should be on par and maybe even be a slightly bigger boost than maniac since you will hardly use rend/revenge. But those situations should be rare and the difference little, so go with maniac.

Why would you assume I wouldn't use Rend or Revenge in 1v1? I actually use them regularly particularly in boss fights --- they don't interfere with spamming frenzy. and I'm not spending fury anywhere else.

    http://us.battle.net...7/hero/24899239

Has anyone knowledge of how these skills compare?

I've been using Sidearm, and to me, the piercing axe doesn't seem to happen all that often and it appears to go off into space. Of course, in tightly packed mobs (which much of Act3 is) it's hard to see its effect. On the other hand, 4% up to 20% extra damage with Maniac seems like a lot, although I'm not sure what the CD is on each stack and whether moving from mob to mob starts the stack over again. It appears that once frenzy is at 5 stacks, it stays that way through dozens of mobs --- and if it affects all that Rend .... And with 100K buffed DPS, that could amount to a great increase for me.

    Thanks, guys!

Could some of you guys post your profiles? It would really help me, and I'm certain lots others, if I could see how you gear up for your skill build. To the point: what decided you on 2H vs 1 and Off?

    Thanks!!!!
