Until the pvp patch ill be playin swtor (star wars: the old republic)
not a fan of the monthly fee anymore (wow)

I am playing SWTOR based on an earlier suggestion (in fact, I explored almost every suggestion). Don't you get a lot more out of SWTOR by buying the subscription rather than F2P?

Thanks for the feedback, guys. I like the dungeon-and-dragon format of games like WOW and RIFT and even, SKYRIM --- some of the lesser ones like NeverWinterNights and Oblivion are OK, but I didn't like the mechanics. I tried Mass Effect as a new genre but never warmed to it. I don't think anything can match WOW for the open environment and shear breadth of the world, and I'd be playing it today if it didn't have the MMO requirement of 4-6 hour commitments of guild runs to feel you were achieving anything more than the mediocre gear you could get going strictly solo. D3 really fixed that part about gear, but I was really stunned when I finished the initial normal four acts and realized that was the extent of the content. The lure of gear is great, but the perversity of the legendary and set drops is sick. I completely agree with the concept that legendary drops should be a very rare occasion of extremely low frequency, but when they do drop, they should be somewhat valuable. The AH is filled with legendaries and set pieces that are priced just barely above their salvage costs --- something is wrong with that. I myself, since I turned level 60, have never worn anything that's dropped.

What other game are you guys playing? I really like RPGs, although I can take or leave the MMO part --- I'm WOW'ed-out from years of 4-hour guild runs (it took less time to become bored with RIFT). I'll probably continue to run ACT3 daily, and maybe my enthusiasm for the game will return but right now it's become a bit ho-hum.

Excellent work on Azmodan and in helping all of us be better players! In another video of yours, you mention farming MP5. Why that level when it's apparent you could be doing MP8-10 with ease?

posted a message on Gear advice please havent played a Barb in months.
Much of what you have seems more suitable for a barbarian anyway. You seem to completely lack defense --- no LoH, no LS, low resists.

I'm getting the feeling that there are far less people playing Diablo. Maybe people have finished the highend content and wondering what's next? This forum is a lot quieter, and the auction house has really fallen off.

I feel I'm at the 'sweet spot' ... all stats seem to be in balance, and I am pretty comfortable at MP7-8 for ACT3. But I can always count on you guys for insights on things I may have missed.

I've been watching for other set and legendary pieces --- Fire Walkers, Vile Ward, etc. but I'm not seeing any improvements in stats that I'd be willing to pay 100 million gold to get --- at least not right now.

posted a message on What's the best Hellfire Ring you've made?
and how many did you make before getting it?

I just made my first and only Hellfire Ring; it's got 194 STR, a socket and about 5k health globes and some other worthless stats. Other than strength, it's far inferior to my rare rings. I started another barbarian and gave him the ring with a minor vitality gem in the socket. At level 6, he's invincible --- lol!

I soloed all this on MP7, and it took about 10 runs for 6 keys in each ACT ... which was pretty good. It then took all 6 attempts to get the three different ingredients ... and amazingly I got each of three body parts without a duplicate. Even with all that relative good luck, I was incredibly bored --- like bleeding-from-the-ears bored! I would imagine the odds are that you'd have to make about 20 rings to get one that might have crit damage, crit chance, a socket, vitality, etc.

posted a message on How do you determine optimal Life Steal?
Hi, guys. I asked and had answered this question in my Barbarian class forums. I temporarily switched out my belt and lost its 2.9 LS. All other things being equal, I had no problem with ACT3/MP7 so I assume that 5.5-6.0 LS with my build and 106K DPS is just fine. I'm in search of a new weapon, as soon as I can get some serious gold. Thanks for the help, guys.

Thanks for sharing this! I may try to swap my 3% LL passive for Brawler and give it a try too

hehe ... Brawler is a great skill! One trick you'll soon discover is to select the toughest mob in a pack to kill first while you're surrounded, you want to take full advantage of that 30% against the hardest kill (think tremors, warlords, extra health elites).

I think the best Way would be to just test it. Drop an items with LL and look how it goes. I'm wondering myself if 9% is a bit overkill

Thanks, I did just that. I switched out my belt and thus reduced my LS from 8.4 to 5.5 ... as well as losing 13% frenzy damage (which plays a big role in LS) I can safely say that the 8.4 was overkill(overheal). The only time I saw my health go down to about 90% was scampering after range mobs while others were firing at me, which always happens. And I died once, but that was because I was testing the LS ... standing in the plague pools of a champion mob of 3 desecrator, plague doom troopers --- that's hard to survive at the best of times ... and I'd leap out usually. But it stood up to a few arcane beams in close range with no problem. So, I guess I can now try to swap out my main hand.

I posted this on theorycrafting, but not sure anyone goes there:

I'm a melee type barbarian (I know that sounds redundant, but as opposed to a WW, I'm a brawler). I'm having great fun with my build

    http://us.battle.net...7/hero/24899239

but would like to switch out some gear, particularly looking for a new main hand with more crit damage and a socket. I run ACT3/MP7 with few if any deaths, so I wonder if some of my 8.4% LS can be sacrificed so I can get a reasonably priced main hand without LS. My resistances and damage reduction are both about 70% when buffed and my LoH is 563.

I pretty much see non-stop 250k average crits, and that's without the damage rend is doing, without LoH and without my white damage. I figure at that rate I'm gaining at least (8.5% x 20% for inferno) x 250,000 (assume a crit per sec) = 4500 Life/sec + rend + minimal LoH. Is that overheal?

posted a message on I must be strange ...
Let me start by saying I'm strictly a melee barbarian using a life-steal/rend brawler build which immediately makes me unusual. I actually take my time going back and forth between waypoints in ACT3/MP7 depending on my mood with a complete disregard for efficiency. Some days I feel lazy and do battlements and some days, I'm feisty and do Arreat. I actually stand around and fight until the mobs are dead because I still pick up all magic and rare items. I have 15 keys of terror ... I actually had more of them and a few of the other keys and did the uber bosses ... but the idea of endless farming for the offchance of making a ring (particularly with my luck with drops and loot) has no appeal. Here's the really strange part: I watch these speed runs of WW barbarians and am left cold. What is the allure of racing through ACT3, barely caring if anything is dying in your wake, completely ignoring 99% of all drops? I guess I eventually want to be PL100 and do ACT3/MP10, but then what? I'm only PL36, so I've got weeks ahead of me ... at the rate I farm, maybe months --- and that, strangely enough, appeals to me.
