For much of Nightmare I stuck with Bola with the 14 yard rune and Elemental Arrow with Ball Lightning, crazy AoE suitable until the end of NM. Just run a lot, slow a lot with Caltrops. If you don't like using Caltrops, then switch out Bola for Entangling Shot with Chain Gang~

Now I'm stuck in Act 3 lol..the part where you decent through the keep's dungeons. Blizz really has a sadistic sense of humour. Walk in, 3 rooms away, Soul Ripper Champion pack, Mortar/Teleport/Reflect Damage/Waller.

Logged out, logged back in to re-roll the elites. Four times in a row, four Soul Ripper champs with Teleport and Reflect Damage. I stopped playing there lol...

I'm also in act 3 now and I feel that the beginning of the act is really annoying. after you came to the bridge of korsik it really gets easier.

Yeah, I had so much trouble with the light the beacon quest cos of Reflect Damage/Mortar/Invulnerable Minions/Fast... My monk friend and I had to death flop ourselves through that particular champ mob T_T

posted a message on Act 2 Inferno too hard : need more gear?
I cleared Act 1 about 1.5 weeks ago, and just spent the weekend helping friends out with Hell and Act 1 Inferno. Then I just decided to give Act 2 a go. Managed to clear it in a day, and it was really tough and demotivating! Geting 1 shot from the wind blowing (sarcasm!) can be really really bad for motivation. But..I've been glass cannon since Normal so in a way I've been training for this for a long time xD

All I can say is, be really quick on your SS. Managed to solo Belial after about 15+ tries and man that felt good! Now I'm stuck in Act 3 lol..the part where you decent through the keep's dungeons. Blizz really has a sadistic sense of humour. Now I'm back farming Maghda.

I absolutely love movement speed, and will never get a pair of boots without at least 10%. That tiny boost gives you just enough to outrun mortars should your reaction be a fraction too slow to start running immediately after cast~

I stacked Crit Damage till I am now about 250-270%, now stacking a bit more Crit Chance so I can do away with SharpShooter and take Tactical Advantage instead. Up to about 27-29% Crit Chance unbuffed now.

If I am not mistaken, when you fire an elemental arrow, a test is made to determine if it will be a critical hit or not.
However, sharpshooter still works until one second after your first elemental arrow hit the target.
It means that, assuming you are attacking from maximum range and your arrows takes 3 second to hit the target you will have 4 second when you will only land critical hits.
If you have a very good gear with let's say 40% crit, 300% critical damage, it will give you something like +67% damage for the first 4 second of the fight.
If you have a superior gear your fights won't last very long, so that's a good passive.
I would even say it does stack pretty well with the stuff.
Not as good as Archery while using Bows (and maybe using 1h xbows) or Steady Aim but very decent.

Are you saying that the projectile damage is calculated at cast and not on hit? So my 6th NT projectile that is case BEFORE the first one hits will still be counted as full SS stack damage? Interesting theory, might go and see if that's true, on an easy peasy boss like Azmodan :P

slow attack speed locks you down for longer at each attack so I wouldn't exactly say it's too good for kiting..

Attackspeed makes up for this easily, and the insanely high attack speed of 1H Crossbows makes stutter kiting way too ineffective. You need to stand and shoot without interruption to make use of the high attack speed.

I always advocate bows, not 1h xbows. I meant it as an argument against 2h xbows, which are in my opinion inferior because of both too slow attackspeed, and lower damage output.

But they crit like a truck :P And critting yourself to death on a Reflect Damage mob is the most fun a DH can get! Especially with Teleport/Waller/Fast/Invulnerable Minions :D All those prefixes on a Soul Lasher. GG, I gave up on Act 3 last night cos 4 resets gave me Soul Lasher champs all with Teleport~

    5. You will never run out of Hatred. Elemental Arrow costs 10, Bat + Mark of Death = 6 regen per sec, 1 regen per sec as base, so that's a minimum of 7 Hatred per sec, and by the time you hit 30% Hatred left, it's time to run again, and by the time you reach the other end, you're full on Hatred again :D (Also while not critting and running, your SharpShooter stacks continue going up, giving you nice crits each time you do have time to attack!)
What are you on about? Bat gives 3 and base is 4. That's 7 per second. Marked for Death is not Hatred regen per scond, but Hatred regen on hit, 3 hatred on hit.

Sorry, no idea how I used all the wrong numbers >.< But the strat works anyway :)

Everything Im seeing points to forgoing vita and stacking Dex, Crit, Crit dmg.. and sitting at a measily 12-18k hp and just NOT getting hit..

Personally I hate it and don't do it.. but I also cant get past the first quest in A3.. I did manage to kill Belial tho. (Inferno)
    - I stack Dex/Vita/Resist all +Anything else crit/crit dmg I can get my hands on.. but its not going well -- Using a 960 ish dps wep and with my gear only doing 21-22k dps. -- With other gear I can get 32k easy.. but I HATE the *Get 1shot by everything* gearing :( (Edit: dps numbers are without//PRE sharpshooter)

ATM I believe its gonna cost me 5-10mil per item off the AH that includes dex100+, Vita 100+, Resistall50+, Crit2%+, Crit dmg 30%+ -- Before I can really *easily* progress through A3 Inferno :(.. and that assumes anyone posts said items.
/sigh @ Bliz milking RMAH when it comes out. .. yea yea I know /tinfoilhat

Act 3 mobs one shout you anyway unless you're really really stacking Vit and Resistance to the point your damage is too low to kill the mobs... So just stack damage and don't get hit :) I'm stacking Crit Damage, currently at 289%. 13k HP xD

    Quote from Ashbringer

I thought I was handling act 1 pretty well until act 2 started and those mobs crushed my dreams... I can handle progressing and wiping to elite packs / blues / bosses , but to die because a monkey demon jumped you out of nowhere and all his friends start to corpse camp you gets boring after a dozen deaths.

This. Hahaha, that's why I'm just farming Butcher over and over again, partly to get better gear for myself, and partly so I can get gear I can sell to buy better gear for myself xD I don't even bother with Vit anymore... Everything one shots you anyway.. -_-

75k damage with SS, 13k HP xD

Yesterday I had 4 Champion packs in a row with Reflect Damage, and 2 of them had Invulnerable Minions -_- Luckily none of them were Fast.

What I do is I run, lay a Caltrops with Immobilize, run as far as I can, drop another one, turn around and immediately start shooting. Just before the projectiles hit the mob, I SS. Rinse and repeat until one of you dies :P

posted a message on Butcher Inferno tacts
I finally killed Butcher on Inferno yesterday after 2.5 hours of trying :P Here's what I did.

    1. I find that dual wielding hizzies is pretty meh for anything on Inferno. You gotta hit them hard when you can so they can't regen while you run around/kite.

    2. At the start of the fight, run all the way down, and spam your biggest damagers. I personally used Elemental Arrow w/ Nether Tentacles rune.

    3. At max range, his hook cannot pull you in, and never use your CD's to avoid this, cos 1), Max range doesn't reach you, and 2), You can just strafe and it will miss.

    4. After hook, the next animation is GUARANTEED to be the AOE chains. SS out of it and run to the opposite side of the room. Start dpsing again when you reach the absolute end of the room for more DPS uptime.

    6. Here's my build http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/demon-hunter#jRXYVT!aYT!YcZZcZ

    7. I didn't bother stacking Vit or having any sort of HP. You will be losing so much damage you'll hit the soft enrage with too many fire floors, and Act 2 is like crazy, everything one shots you anyway, so your newly bought Vit gear is useless already :P

    8. I had 18k HP and 22-24k Damage unbuffed (without Sharpshooter). Then I bought a 2h Crossbow, 926 damage and got some Crit Damage gear and my DPS went up to 59k buffed. (I killed butcher with my older weap, a 700 damage+ Bow) Each crit was about 60-75k on average, and just a few hits is enough so you just continue running :D
