This the first patch that I don't like to much. I don't like socializing in D3 and now I'll be at even greater disadvantage playing solo. Meh.
Actually, you will be not affected in the least. The game will be exactly the same for you after the patch as it was before.
If you choose to see a buff to players who group together as a nerf to yourself, I guess that's one way to look at it.

I believe what you are experiencing is in fact intended behavior. Somewhere along the line, the design team decided it wasn't "fun" to dodge, and took player dodging out of the game. More clearly stated, the "dodge" mechanic in the game at this point is purely mechanical, not dependent on player skill.
If you are in the range of a mob or damage source when it rolls to hit you, and it succeeds on the roll to hit, you will be hit, regardless of where you are on the screen when the actual attack or damage animation catches up with you. Couple this with slight variations of character position between client and server and you can appear to be damaged from sources that are no where near you when you receive the damage.
I may be wrong.

Patience, I have. Integrity, discipline? Eh...

I highly regret the fact that players like yourself and so many others live in constant fear of nerfs. There seems to be an ominous underlying feeling that Blizzard's game balance folks are sitting up in their tower saying "Oops, X player on Y stream put together a powerful build, time to get the bat out again."
When the game was initially released, they promised us that players would stumble on to things that the test team did not, unintended builds would emerge, and they would be nerfed. Critical Mass is a perfect example of this. But now, the game has been released for over 2 months, and players are still shell-shocked into thinking that any combination of skills/gear they come across that gives them any sort of success is "wrong" and "dirty" and "going to be nerfed".
This makes me sad. Blizzard, set our builds free!

Easier said than done sometimes. I started a "No auction house" Monk. Lasted about 25 levels. Then I started a "no auction house" barbarian. Lasted about 6. I guess I don't have the constitution required.
Temptation finds me, not the other way around, I swear it!

Someone gave you reputation for it, so at least one other person enjoyed it.
This thread has been derailed, shame and no loots for either of us.

Well, rest assured I meant no offense to anyone. Nerd rage was not intended nor implied. Look back through my previous posts and you'll see what I've contributed here.
One-liners aren't quality discussion. Noted. No free loots for me this time!

Right. Besides, what's quality?

Sorry. Gotta hit that quota to be eligible for the free loots.
