You guys do realize that no one nerd rages and then takes a before picture, right? I'm sure this was calmly taken apart while he sat on the stairs, the whole point of it I guess would be the RMAH comment.. breaking shit isn't childish, and to be perfectly honest, pretty much none of that has much value. Used key is used.. the rest is just a bunch of crap that half the people out there will bring to half price books for 50 cents in a year..

Only reason Blizz is giving out refunds is because.of the political pressure from overseas.
They raided in Korea or something for refunds.
Now everyone is on the bandwagon to get their money back to prove a point or whatever.
Even after playing 65 hours, when most single-player games for the same price are around 10 hours for the story.. Which is pretty much the whole game.
    BS.
Had Blizz not been raided, you wouldn't have received jack shit.
    I hope you're nice & smug.
    Err. Snug. ;)

But is Diablo 3 a singleplayer game? I don't think so.

    Wow.
    ......
    Just.....
    Wow.

Yes, I hope your head explodes.

So many of the arguments in this thread are just plain retarded. Anyone who thinks 65 hours spent in an online game is a lot of time needs their head examined. This game is supposed to last.. Diablo 2 lasted quite a long time, even when it first came out most people didn't get bored with it as fast as people are getting bored of Diablo 3.

There's so many reasons why this game could be boring to someone, the biggest and most overlooked reason is that Diablo 2 existed. Most of us played the shit out of Diablo 2, so much, that any similar game ends up not holding our interest for long, because we already played D2 until it was just plain boring.

Anyways.. Who cares if he got a refund? Are you mad that Blizzard didn't get that person's money and now the game is going to die without it? Blizzard has money to throw around, so that can't be the case. Is it that it's morally wrong? It's suddenly wrong for someone to return something they don't like? This isn't rocket science.

posted a message on Did Diablo 3 innovate?
    Quote from TheDFO

Well? I've heard a number of places talk about whether or not D3 innovated, or if it is just a polished standard ARPG. And I'm curious, what innovations do you think there are/aren't? And let's not get into if it is a GOOD or BAD innovation (there's too much of that going around as is), just if it is innovating.

The innovations I can think of are:

Skills - no points, no choice in what you have, only what you use.
Runes - A little iffy on this, but I haven't seen any other games where every single skill has 6 variants that are pretty different.
AH - Not sure. Is this an innovation? Or is it just common?
RMAH - Well, it's more or less new. I haven't heard of any games that let players sell items to each other for money (yeah, there's the freemium games, but thats the devs selling items to the players).

Most places I've seen focus on those last time ideas.

    Thoughts?

I dunno.. the RMAH "innovation" is more like, they found a way to sell digital items without having to do any work, you are the ones selling it and they profit off of the imaginary items. It's innovative in that sense, in the sense that in Diablo 2, lots of people sold items on ebay.. and Blizzard knew it was going to happen in D3 and wanted a cut of it instead of trying to find a way to keep it from happening.

As far as the rest of the game goes, I haven't found anything that is a "Step forward" for ARPG's. It's all been done before for the most part.. I am sure people will be mad at me for saying it. I love the game, it's my new favorite time sink. But it needs work.

posted a message on Diablo 3 like WoW.. Wait what? I'm confused
If I had to guess it's because of the similarities in generic "Don't stand in fire" boss encounters and the fact that they tried to force a "challenging end-game" into the game, which Diablo 2 pretty much never had. I guess maybe people think it's like wow because all you do is farm for items to drop? I guess in that case, the argument/statement should be that wow is like Diablo then, since that's all Diablo has ever been..

posted a message on The endgame in Diablo 3 is pathetic, and disapointing
    Quote from Sabelrejen

I'm not even sure why I'm reading these posts anymore. I thoroughly enjoy the game and the difficulty (got barb in act1 Inferno) and I know plenty of people who agree completely.

However, the solution is simple: If you don't like it, quit whining and quit playing. Or just settle for Hell difficulty if you can't take the heat in Inferno. Playing all 5 classes to Hell will give you plenty of fun gaming, and honestly still worth the price.

Act 1 Inferno is a cake walk. Please stop kidding yourself, you really have no place in this discussion until you're there. The complaints are coming from anyone who's in Act 2 Inferno. Act 1 Inferno, I can clear the whole thing very quickly. Going from Act 1 Inferno to Act 2 Inferno currently is like jumping from Normal to Hell, but not having the opportunity to get the gear you need to clear it except for from the wizards and DH who got past the areas pre-nerf.

I'm at work and can't watch your streams.

How far have you gotten with this spec? Because honestly, from what I can tell, anything in Inferno Act 2 and beyond hits for more than 20k, your mitigation won't do enough when you're getting beat on the hordes of mobs.. I could be wrong, but I'm just wondering.

Also, since you seem to know mathz.. I haven't found the answer yet, which mitigation takes place first? IE if you have 35% physical reduction, and 65% reduction from armor, you get hit by a physical attack, you take 35% reduced damage and then 65% less from the 35, or is is 65 and then 35?, and as far as that goes, what about items like String of Ears that add a flat reduction, when does that come in?

I've been more or less stuck on Act 2 for the last week, it doesn't seem to matter how much gear I grab, my stats aren't going up enough for me to notice a huge difference in survivability, no matter which spec I try..

    Gracias.

posted a message on Why Diablo 3 will not last as long as Diablo 2.
Sorry, I am at work and didn't explain as much as I'd have liked to on my view on the stats.. while yes, int and strength do increase your stats, there's no point in the game where you're going to take something that, (let's say as a wizard), as a wizard, you will never grab an item that has a bunch of strength on it over an item with intellect on it. And as a monk, grabbing a few points of intellect, is a nice little bonus, but I think that it's something relatively low.. like .3 resist per point of intellect? Don't quote me on that, I'm at work and my brain has melted already. I'm just saying that as far as primary stats go, I see strength and I vendor it. Most of the items that I've found with Strength+Vit on them, huge amounts of each, I go search the AH and theres like 50ish of the same stat range, and they're selling for 5-15k, for a level 60 item. Maybe it's just that I've been having bad luck, but I dunno.. because only one class uses strength, it feels like the market for strength items has too many items in it, so the prices are dirt cheap.. which is fine, it just doesn't compare to the rest of the classes at this point.

As far as the gold for crafting goes, it WOULD have been a fine addition, it would have been great even.. if the auction house wasn't around. The risk/reward is too high for crafting, when you could save the money from 1-3 attempts of blacksmithing, and go to the AH and grab a piece of awesome gear for sure.

And besides that, my biggest gripe is that they for some reason didn't balance stats between classes. As a Monk, with my gear, I have more IAS gear on than most DH do, and the same amount of DEX, and same weapon damage. I have around 1300 dex, and my damage is like 16k or something around there.. I've seen and looked at DH who have 50k+ damage and have the same or less DEX than me. At least they aren't a ranged class that can hide around corners and shoot things.

When you were comparing your Monk's dmg to a Demon Hunters, what passives did the DH have? As passives are reflected in your character window's dps meter, using the Sharp shooter passive enormously inflates dps. It isn't an accurate portrayal. Sharp shooter increases the Demon Hunter's critical strike chance by 3% every second until they crit. So what you're seeing is their dmg with 100% crit. It's pretty meaningless. It just means they have high burst. It's not as if they can sustain 100% crit.

The benefit of Dext is equal to both Monks and Demon hunters. 1 dext = 1% dmg.

Ah, I wasn't aware of that passive. You can disregard that part of my rant then. I'd still argue that melee damage should be a bit higher considering you have to get hit to hit.. but that's an age-old argument and I don't want that can of worms to be opened.

posted a message on Why Diablo 3 will not last as long as Diablo 2.
I agree with both sides here.. the game is not bad, but it's just not polished yet.. it feels like they had a deadline and they had to rush, which is obviously why the PvP is gone (hopefully not for good, but we will see.. I can't really see arena being fun at all in this game to be honest). But there are some things they really dropped the ball on, like blacksmithing.. and item customization.. and random things like having a quest that will let you add a socket to an item. Things like that that were in D2, but were for some reason left out in D3.

The blacksmith.. they need to remove the gold cost of crafting. You're losing a ton of money, even just if you were going to vendor the items. There's no need to make you lose another 50k, to craft some shoulders that are going to have strength and int on them with 90 melee damage to attackers. Yeah, you could get some good ones, but blacksmithing has completely replaced gambling from D2, and no one seems to have realized it.. And at least with gambling, you had a chance at uniques (Legendaries as they are now called). If Blacksmithing could crit? Yeah, that'd work better.

Item customization just seems to have disappeared. They cut down the number of gems to 4. Am I the only one who misses Sapphires? I miss having the cold damage. I'm sure they took it out for a reason, but it wasn't game breaking in D2, surely wouldn't have been gamebreaking in D3. And I have seen absolutely no mention of Runes. REALLY?! Runes were awesome. Runewords. Runewords and the hunt for finding that PERFECT item to word your hard-found runes for that word you've been wanting for a month or more. Instead, we have 4 gems.

Yeah, some runewords sucked. But the greatest part of runewords was coming up with a combo on an item that no one was expecting, and then showing the world how awesome it was. And yes, I know runes and runewords were not released until LoD, I'm hoping they are just saving them for an expansion at this point.

As far as itemization goes, no one seems to have taken this point: Strength is pretty useless for anyone but barbs. Dex is good for 2 classes, int is good for 2 classes. You find a strength item and you don't even care, because only one class can use them, and they aren't worth jack because of it. This was not a problem in Diablo 2 because everyone needed strength to wear armor, and you could use whatever you wanted to. Sure, it was stupid to see a Sorc running around with Grandfather, but it was possible. And honestly, with the way they changed sorcs to scale with weapon damage, I think the game would have had a lot more to offer if they had that option still. I hated the customization of stats in D2 personally, but with the way weapons make your damage scale on any class now, it makes more sense to have stat customization NOW than it did THEN. Sure, you'd be dumping all your stats in to vit, but then again, let's not kid ourselves.

Wizards are not grabbing any Vit at all. They don't need it. And from what I have dealt with in Act 2 inferno, you're going to get 1 shot by anything anyways. Melee seems to stand no chance past Act1, Act 2 and onward is just extremely overtuned. It should still be soloable.

The game needs a lot of balance changes at this point, Act 2 Inferno is just a brick wall, if you want to play solo, they should make it so you can play Solo. They did a great job of it, up until Act 2 starts. You can say it's a gear check, but my gear can't get much better than what is out right now, I have mega resists, mega armor, and my dex is higher than most, my build is for survival, and my damage is kinda meh, I will admit. I'm at about 40k health, and there's no way I'm going to get another 50k health from gear. I'll still get one-shot. Besides that, seems Monk needs to be looked at, as the healing aura just got nerfed, which makes sense if it was pushing out incorrect numbers.. however, heals in this game stop scaling at level 60.. they need to rework that IMO so that it at least scales to SOME degree with your stats.

I've been all over the place with this post. I've tried to keep it constructive though, hopefully people will see that.

    Endrant.

posted a message on Auction House Fix
While I wish the blacksmith wasn't worthless, Blizzard needs to remove the gold cost of creating items on it. That's pretty much all there is to it. The cost for an item is 50k+ a bunch of mats from salvaging.. which is unnecessary. You're going to be farming a ton of items anyways, no need to make you waste gold on it, except that Blizzard seems to only have pushed this game out so they can make money via the RMAH.

Limiting the AH to 5 won't raise prices. If you have 10 items up at once, it means your prices are too high to begin with. If you price your items right, they will sell fast. If anything, limiting the AH to 5 would most likely lower the prices, because people would not want to take the gamble of putting up 5 items that are too high and not having the ability to sell anything else for 2 days.
