Wow I read the whole thing. A lot of great ideas there. I guess I should have posted this in that thread, huh?

Anyway, I just edited the first post here to include a few more things I just thought of. They are at the bottom of 1st post.

I still don't like the idea.

Hmm... I don't think I'm explaining it well enough. There will be no difference between the way it's currently done and the way I'm suggesting in terms of how fast you level. The only thing I'm eliminating is the tricky "bell curves". That's why there are stupid rules like, the best way to level is:
    • lvl1-15, trist
    • lvl15-20, tomb
    • lvl20-24, cow
    • lvl24, ancients
    • lvl25-44, baal(norm)
    • lvl44-75, baal(nm)
    • lvl75-99, baal(hell)
You have to do it like this because that's what the bell curve says. It's totally stupid that you will get NILL exp in cows for instance if you are lvl19, but you will get TONS of exp in cows if you are lvl20. That's what I'm trying to prevent. It makes everyone do the same thing, and there's not much variation, or individuality.

I just thought it would be great if you level faster, if you already have a high level char on your account. Would be awesome imho, and prevent noobs from abusing it.

This is a cool idea. Not sure if I agree 100% yet, but it's still a very interesting idea that might help. Maybe it could act kinda like an "ondals" or "anni". If you have a lvl 95 char you will get an extra 5% exp for all your other chars.

at lvl 1 you need 500 xp points to lvl... meaning in one baal run you will lvl 15-20 times... a bit unbalanced... also lvling would be to ez in the end game... especially if they didnt have the penalty included

Yeah, I know, but that's why I said this:
However, there will be a limitation. Say for instance, you are game rushed to act 15 and are leeching in a Baal run (or whatever). Killing just one such monster would probably have the potential to level you numerous times, but there will be a restriction that your exp bar will only increment a maximum of 20% of its length for each monster killed. So you will have to kill at least 5 of these high-level monsters to level. (And when I say "you will have to kill", I mean you will have to be in the party for the kill.) This is just to prevent you being in a party when Baal dies, and you level like 50 times.

Wait guys, when I said a fallen has 100xp, I was assuming that was a LOW number. An high act monster would have like 10000xp, etc.

So a high level char would get nowhere killing Fallens in act 1. I don't want to devalue experience. I just want to ensure that you can rush and power-level if you want, just like how you can currently.

Also, I do want level restrictions at certain points, so for instance, you have to be lvl 20 to enter act 6 and lvl 40 to enter act 11.

Also, remember I said to avoid really lame rushes, you cannot get a rusher to complete act 1 for you. You'd have to do it yourself, or with a party of people who haven't completed it yet.

REPOSTED HERE IN PROPER THREAD, GO HERE INSTEAD TO CONTINUE DISCUSSION:

Sticky: Things we want to see/have in Diablo 3

    ----------------------------

    Improve Stash

The stash should be a common storage area per account, not per character. Every character in the account should be able to use the same stash. This will allow sharing of items easily between characters. The space within the stash will have either a scrollbar or a tabbed design to provide continuously expanding space for any and all items a player wishes to save.

    Benefits:
    • Less server storage space will be needed to store separate mule characters.
    • Less bandwidth will be used, since mules will no longer be constantly logging in-and-out of Battle.net and joining and leaving games to execute item transfers.
    • Less server memory will be used, since neither mule transfer games nor mule perming games will be needed to be hosted by Battle.net.
    • Users will be happier because they no longer need to obtain multiple copies of the same hard-to-get/expensive items for different characters.
Increase Number of Characters per Account

The restriction of 8 characters per account should be lifted. There is no reason for this. This doesn't prevent players from creating more than 8 characters. It only makes it more annoying, as a separate account needs to be created and managed.

    Benefits:
    • Less bandwidth will be used, since people will no longer have to log out of one account to access a character on different account.
    • Users will no longer have to manage and keep track of separate account names and passwords.
    • Blizzard customer support will receive less requests to restore or reset a forgotten password.
    Make Accounts Transferable Between Realms

The reason that realms exist is that one server computer cannot track millions of players and accounts simultaneously. Therefore several different servers (realms) are used to divide the workload. Each realm is a separate server which does not communicate with any others. However, there is no technical reason why a user should not be able to transfer his or her account to a different server.

    Benefits:
    • Lag would be more evenly distributed, as players who are fed up with lag on an overpopulated realm could decide to move to a different one.
    • Trading between realms would be possible (obviously, trading between ladder and non-ladder would still be protected)
    Improve Friends List Functions
    • The /r command (reply to last person who messages you) should be usable in game (not just in channels).
    • There should be a perma-squelch command, which prevents undesirable users from messaging you and seeing you online.
    • There should be an invisible mode, where nobody can see that you are online, for situations where you don't want to get drawn into conversation with your friends.
    Screen Resolution

Increase resolutions to have support up to higher resolutions. Sorry, 800x600 doesn't cut it. Note: do NOT incorporate fancy 3D graphics unless you can do it without any GUI slow-down. Almost all modern games that have fancy 3D GUIs exhibit a slow-down. Take TitanQuest for example. There is a small (but noticeable) delay from the time you click/move the mouse or an item to the time the game processes the command. This even occurs on a top-of-the-line PC to some extent.

    Bring Back Good Builds

The "fun" part of playing is having a good character. However, Blizzard somehow thinks that they can nerf characters and it's "OK" because even though your Nova Sorc sucks now, it's balanced. Not fun. Instead of nerfing all characters to make them balanced, why not improve the less-powerful characters? The power of Nova Sorcs should be returned, as well as WW Barb, Throw Barbs, Orb Sorcs, Hydra Sorcs. Also, make some upgrades to less used skills so there are not so many cookie-cutter builds (i.e. Light Sorcs, Hammerdins, Smiters, Zealers only). I would love to see Double-Swing Barbs get good, Assassin charges become more significant and easier to implement, etc).

First Act Is Different For Each Char Class

I think the first act should possibly be unique depending if you're a Zon, Barb, Pally, Sorc, Druid, Assassin, or Necro. Also, you cannot be "rushed" through the first act. Meaning, you do not get credit for any of the Act 1 quests if a character who has already completed those quests does it for you. However, rushing will be allowed from act 2 and up.

    No Norm/NM/Hell Difficulties

This is just a personal opinion, but it seems kind of ridiculous to do the same mission 3 times. I'd much rather have 15 separate acts instead of 3 difficulties with 5 acts each. The later acts would be more difficult and provide better exp/drops. I'd still be cool if Blizzard put level restrictions, such as you must be level 20 to enter act 6, and must be level 40 to enter act 11.

Have Different Tabs for Norm/NM/Hell Game List

It's absolutely ridiculous that people purposefully don't go to NM and Hell for the sole reason that they won't be able to see Norm games in the list. If the previous idea of 15 separate acts and no difficulties is used, this won't be a problem. However, if there are still different difficulties, the game browser list should at least have a different tab for Norm/NM/Hell. And one other thing, if you are Non-Ladder, you should be able to create the same game name as a Ladder game. Half the time when I run Baal runs, the Ladder kids are using the same game name as me, and it completely interferes. It should be totally separate so we can both have the same game name and not interfere.

    Experience is Fixed

When I say "fixed", I mean the amount of experience each type of monster gives when it dies is always the same. For instance, say a Fallen gives 100 experience. You will get 100 experience from it, no matter if you are lvl 1 or lvl 98. As it is now, there is a bell-curve that only characters that fall within the curve get experience from a monster, and it varies more or less based on your level within that curve.

This will ensure that power-leveling is OK, and not diminished by your level in relation to the monsters' levels, or your level in relation to the rusher's level.

MF is Cumulated for Every Person in the Party

That's right. When anyone gets a kill, the MF of everyone in the party is added together. However, to counter-act getting a FLOOD of magic items on each kill, the amount of MF necessary to get higher magic drops will be raised higher and higher for each person who joins the game. So, for a 1 player game, it will remain the same, but for a 8 player game, the amount of MF needed to get the same drops will be more (not 8 times more, but still).

    Partied Players Share Maps

If one player in a party uncovers an area of the map, all party members can see that area on their maps too.

    Make Gold Worth Something

A good way to do this is to have great items be available for trade/gamble from NPCs. Simple as that. Not "mediocre" items. Not "good" items. But "great" items--items people will actually want.

    ------
EDIT - Some more things I just thought of
    ------

    Duel Games

When creating a game, you will have the option of creating
    • PvM game
    • PvP game
    • Trade game
Important: you can still duel and trade in PvM games if you want.

The PvP game puts you in a different world from the normal PvM acts, etc. There is only 1 town (no other acts or areas) and everyone starts out in "town", but town is arranged in a special design. It is an octagon shape that wraps around a central killing field. There are 8 entrances, and a WP next to each one, so you can quickly get around to the other entrances. The stash and a healer NPC is also VERY close to each WP/entrance.

Also when you die, your body does not stay where you died. It's on the ground right next to you in town when you press Esc, so you don't have to run out and get it and get NK'ed. Another thing, is that you CAN put on your BC/BO, etc inside town. And one final thing: potions do not work in PvP games. They don't drop. They stay on your body, so you don't lose them when you die. But you can't drink them b/c it's BM. You CAN, however, run back to town and talk to the healer NPC which is standing close by the stash/WP.

    | `x. |
    | `x. ___ ___ `x. |
    | | | |
    | | | |
    | `x. `x. |
    | | | |
    | | ___ ___ | |
    | `x. `x. |
    | `x. |
    |_____________________|
This is of course, not to scale. The killing field in the center would be larger. Each ( x ) represents a WP. Each ( . ) represents a healer NPC. Each ( ` ) represents a stash. When each of the 8 players enters the game, they will go to their own WP automatically. However, you don't have to stay there. You can easily go to any other WP and team up, etc.

    Trade Games

When creating a game, you will have the option of creating
    • PvM game
    • PvP game
    • Trade game
Important: you can still duel and trade in PvM games if you want.

The Trade game puts you in a different world from the normal PvM acts, etc. There is only 1 town (no other acts or areas). You cannot go hostile on anyone. This prevents morons from trying to duel you when you don't trade the item they want. And one other thing. A trade game can fit more than 8 players in it. It can fit like 16 or something.

    Online Rank/Profile

A online profile on Blizzard's web-page so you can give a link to your friends and they can see your char, all your items, all your skills/stats, etc. Not the stuff in your stash. Just things on your body and inv. It also lists the duels you have won/lost, and who your enemy was. Also shows how many of each type of monster you have killed, & which monsters have killed you. Time spent playing. Avg time per day, etc.

    See Other Peoples' Gear

A option in-game to see what other people are wearing. I don't see why this is a problem. Only when you're partied though. So BM duelers can't see what you're using and adjust their equip to compensate at the last minute.

All Items on Your Char are Visible on your Person

All items should show on your character. For instance, boots, gloves, belt (maybe rings, ammy). You should be able to see all these things on your character when you equip them -- not just wep/shield/helm/armor.

    Spam Control

Say like 10 things really fast and you're kicked. If half the people in the game squelch you, you're also kicked.

    Game History

Ever leave a game, and be like "oh crap... I forget the game name"? Well, you will have a history list so you can remember.

    Asshole Block

Is someone stalking you? Following you into all your games, going hostile, and making everyone leave? Well, you can either add them to your asshole list with the "/ass" command, and they will have a perma restraining order from entering any game you are currently in. However, likewise, you cannot enter their games either. Same with channels. But you can't abuse it. You can't just add everybody. You will get like 100 total people that you can assblock.

Horodric Cube Recipe to Turn Items "Superior"

The results would vary from like 7% ED to 25% ED (ED = enhanced damage for weps / enhanced defense for armor/shields).

don't mean to brag, but it's up to 65k now.

Although, I must admit i cheated a tiney bit for this shot by still wearing my prebuff rings, belt, and ammy. If I was actually fighting, i'd use the combat stuff, which will lower it to 61k, but make me faster, more AR, etc.

I still don't have perf gear tho. I'm using eschuc instead of a rare +3sorc skills orb w/ +3 to enchant (which would be ideal if i could find one). Also, I could fit 3 more ele GCs and i havn't socketed my prebuff shako and eschuch yet with a fire facet. Those are my goals. I'll keep you informed of the progress.

By the way, Darkjay, punch is 17k now :D

    Also, one more note:
This is all without a skill shrine and B.C.

I was just getting a new character g-rushed by... get this ... a lvl 76 bowazon.

At first i thought she'd be able to take me through maybe Nightmare... MAYBE act 1 hell.

No. She did the whole fricking game. Cleared Hell Chaos Sanct with ease. Killed D too no prob. (that's where we stopped tho so idk how she would have done at baal runs, but I bet she would be just fine at it.)

She was using all godly gear. Anni, ztorch, CoH, Faith matriachal bow, "Giant Skull" (unique Bone Visage w/ 2 sockets) with 2 +15%IAS/+40%ED jewels.

I never played a zon before, but this makes me want to start one!

    Darkjay,

Right now, the enchant by itself will raise my damage about 11-12K. So assuming I don't have any dreams on, my weapon will do aprox 11-12k. It doesn't really matter if I have a weapon or if I'm just punching. It doesn't vary too much. The only use for the weapon is just to attack faster (or any other useful mods it may have)
