posted a message on Pimp my DH - AKA, buying BiS DH gear.
Right, I've got an excess load of cash laying around, and there's no use sitting on a big pile of coins like an old dragon.
Therefore, as I'm a lazy SoB that can't be bothered to trawl the AH for 5 hours a day to find items that are upgrades, I'm posting here -

    http://imgur.com/OlKVL

That is my current gear. I am willing to pay alot for good upgrades. I'm not going to hand you 50M for a 10 dexterity upgrade, or for increasing my magicfind by 1-2 points - I want actual upgrades (EG, 170-180 dex legs with more MF, a good chunk of vitality if not the same or better, and obviously, two sockets). I am also not going to hand you my entire pile of cash, unless the item is actually worth it - I *will* be checking the price for items in it's stat-range before buying, to see if I'm getting ripped off.
As a rule of thumb, 2K dps upgrades are something I'll take a look at. My current statweights are:

Crit Chance: 1.6K dps per 1%.
Crit Damage: 186 DPS per 1%.
Attack Speed: 853 DPS per 1%.
    Min/Max damage: 59.6 DPS per 1.
    Dexterity: 47 DPS per 1.

I am not looking to compromise much on anything, really - I can take a vitality or MF hit if the DPS increase is big enough to warrant it, but I would prefer the items to have the same stats as what I have, plus some. Things like a pair of gloves with 200 dex, 9% Ias, 30% crit dmg, 8.5% crit chance where I lose 3% crit dmg and gain a ton of dex/IAS are obviously OK - as long as the net-worth comes out ahead DPS wise, the stats does not matter alot.

That's just how you know the game hit Asia :x. I'm pretty sure there's atleast one or two deaths in the news every time a new WOW expansion is released, too.

Easiest/cheapest would be to let someone in proper tank gear tank, and gear a caster that doesn't take any hits at all in glass-cannon magicfind gear. DH, for example.

You have to add +3% on top of your given result, as sharpshooter never resets to "0", but to "+3".

calcuates me at 5 dps more than I'm at. Guessing some rounding's are a bit off, Dreltar's spreadsheet is still more accurate :/.
    Few notes:
Had to input 130 dex and 7% crit from natalya's on a random item (picked boots for this).
Can't add %life to calculate vitality, only vitality.

Thanks for the responses guys. I recently found a one handed weapon that sold for 150 million, so I decided this would be a fun investment, if perhaps not the most effective gear for the money. Fun, that is what I bought this game for in the first place so I'm pretty happy with my decision. I already have the whole set, minus the bow, but I'm thinking that if I eventually switch to a dual wield build, I'll lose my +disc from my quiver. Just trying to gauge if anyone else running this set would consider the 35 million intro price for a +8 disc cloak worth it. Yeah... it's a lot of gold.

1h xbows can roll 10 disc, so you won't "lose" it.

Regardless, +max disc is heavily overrated when you actually have the nat's 4 set. The reason it's awesome before the 4 set is that the biggest disc-regen you can get is through prep, so the bigger your base, the more you regen. Nat's 4 set means you almost never use prep, so you gain alot less of a benefit, as your bar fills so fast anyway.

    Quote from nights

there are 2 kinds of ias, "increases attack speed by" only works on the item it spawns on, and is supposedly a weapon-only affix, but is/was bugged and could spawn on legendary armor as well. "attack speed increased by" gives an overall boost to ur attack speed and works when spawned on armor pieces.

as for calculation, what i would do is take off the boots with 272 dex, see how much is lost, calculate how much 70 dex is worth by taking [dps loss from 272 dex] * 70 / 272, add the result to ur dps w/o the 272 dex boots. this will give u how much dps u will do with a pair of +70 dex boots. then take that dps number with +70 dex boots, multiply by 1.06, then multiply by (your current ias % + 100% + 5%) / (your current ias % + 100%)

hope its not too confusing =D

Wouldn't that be off, though, as Dex is an exponentially increasing stat value (each dex makes the next point of dex worth more)?
The easiest way to figure it out, is to just download the demon hunter DPS calc in a topic a bit further down this page and put in your item's ;).

posted a message on 2H Xbow vs 1H Xbow vs Bow (video)
I have stated alot of what I find stupid about your video. If you want it dumbed down to one simple explanation, then be my guest:

You lack any kind of actual mathematical evidence to explain what is better/worse, and at which point WHY it is is better/worse. Instead, you ramble on for five minutes with personal preference, while still failing to grasp the basic idea's behind the DH damage system.

If you think I'm a troll, then so be it. Still, I'm not the guy making youtube video's to "help other people" by filling them with misinformation and good intentions.

posted a message on 2H Xbow vs 1H Xbow vs Bow (video)
...So you made a video you decided to share with nothing but your opinions, and alot of flawed... "arguments", I guess they are.

Just to clarify a few things -
You don't crit like a truck because you're using an Xbow specificly. You crit higher because it gives you 50% more dmg on your crits. Which is, all in all, not alot. There's also a mathematical point where the 50% crit dmg is both weaker and stronger than 15% raw damage - this breakpoint would be at 30% crit chance (30% chance means 30 out of every 100 hits crit for 50% more dmg, giving you a 15% dmg increase).
You also completly forget to mention that the 1hand crossbows provide a 10% crit bonus from archery instead of 50% crit dmg or 15% raw damage.
You claim that the 1hand crossbow burns through your hatred "really fast", but you forget to consider the fact that you will regen the spent hatred equally as fast by firing off your hatred generator (if it takes 20 secs to unload with a crossbow and 20 secs to refill, then it'll take 15 secs to unload and refill with a hand crossbow, simple logic) - there's really no difference, except you might have to refill your hatred bar instead of rely on it to have killed everything when it's depleted, but sustained damage will result in the same time spent regenning/spending as any other weapon type.
You spent half a minute going over how "cool" each item looks.
You skip over the reasoning behind the fact that every proper demon hunter prefers a crossbow (stutter-step kiting).
Yes, cold dmg WILL proc Cull the weak. No, you shouldn't use a cold dmg wep unless you get *the* top tier cold dmg wep, as cold dmg has smaller dmg affix ranges than any other affix (meaning they will do much less dps).

If you want to be informative, you can either make a general video that lasts two minutes, and get it right (crossbows has the most reliable dmg, are slowest so they are best for kiting, etc), or spend some time actually considering what you're going to say and research what you are claiming.

    Quote from Lucidity

    That doesn't work for me.

And I'm not sure I understand the math you're doing on the pants. Are you saying that your pants have 230 dex after sockets or before? Every pants i see on the auction house with that much dex is post sockets.

It should do, just tested it on my DH too, and works just fine.
And 230 dex on pants is post-gems. What I'm saying is, a relatively cheap belt and relatively cheap set of pants gets you 400 dex (5M max spent on both together), while Inna's gets you 275 dex, 6% IAS, 1% crit and 6% dmg in the best case scenario, for ten times that price (50M).

posted a message on Inna's Glory & Blessing 2pc set
Depends, really. My pants with 230 dex is better than a pair of Inna's glory pants with max IAS, 1% crit (I have 375% crit dmg so 1% crit is like 1.5k dps to me), and 38 dexterity, by 2.5k dps. Logic dictates that if you get a 2x socket version (for about 15m), then you could up that by about 50 dex with stargems. Add on top of that the fact that you can get a relatively cheap 170 dex belt, but an Inna's with any amount of dex is in the 25-30M figures.
Which means that from buying a pair of pants with ~230 dex due to sockets (assuming star gems), and a 170 dex belt, you'll have 400 dex vs 275 dex + 6% IAS +1% crit +5% dmg.
So yes, a proper belt + legs *are* very usefull. The bads news is, it'll cost you about 40-50M to get a proper "set".

Lucidity - not entirely true, just equip a non-elemental dmg wep, then the belt, then the elemental dmg wep and it should have the correct modifier. Works for my monk, atleast.

If you don't have more money to spend, then act 3 probably isn't for you yet. Keep hitting A1/2 to get better gear overall, and more money. Get a socketed wep with a crit dmg gem in, or just baseline critdmg, get crit on every item that can have it (missing 3.5 on quiver, none on bracers, none on helm, etc).
