posted a message on Gear Questions - HC Monk
    Hi all,
I apologize if these questions have been asked in previous threads.
I actually do read the forums quite a bit, but am thinking I'd love some suggestions directly.

    Here is my HC monk
    http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Eusix-1146/hero/24201330

    - Does offhand speed matter for FoT / Sweeping winds?
There is a much smaller number of weapons available in the HC AH, and obviously faster ones are priced higher. My budget is fairly low and am hoping I can skimp a bit on slower weapons.

    - Are there any legendaries that I should look for that maybe are potentially undervalued at early 60 levels? I know of the Won Khim Lau. This seems to be an okay 1-hander, but what randoms should I look for on it?

    - Obviously the more Crit Chance, Crit Dmg, and Attack speed the better, but are there caps, or at least soft-caps that I should shoot for on one over others in regards to FoT / Sweeping winds?

These questions are coming from a long-time barbarian-player, so the finer details of the monk are new to me.

    Any thoughts are appreciated.
    Thanks.

posted a message on First HC Death and assorted thoughts
    Howdy,
Thought I'd make a post after a very up-and-down evening last night.

I made my HC barb about 6 weeks ago after clearing up to Act 3 Inferno SC on both a barb and a DH. I do enjoy the game very much, but was frustrated with the AH inflation. Starting over in HC was quite the eye-opener. Having to start from scratch with no money was actually quite invigorating and a fun challenge. Eventually my barb hit level 60 and I started the gear grind. I also got the Hellish Staff of Herding after some item/money grinding.

Last night I was progressing through the latter parts of Act 1 inferno and cleared it with a good group of random joiners. After I unlocked Act 2, I went back and was going to farm more Act 1, but fate had other plans. I got pinned by an elite pack of Arcane minions in one of the Crypts, and my barb finally bought the farm. (I always suspected that Arcane would be my nemesis, haha.)

I've already started a monk and am excited to be trying it again, but without the severe handicap of no cash. My stash is unlocked, my staff of herding is still there, my BS and JC are leveled up. All kinds of good stuff remain.

Other random thought: Since I'm not really a big fan of the idea of items for real money, I'm happy to be playing in an environment that only allows gold auction house transactions.

Anyways, I just figured I'd share my story. And while I mourn my character, there will be others, and they will avenge his death. :)

Well, you could always try out a hardcore character. That's what I've been working on for a couple weeks and last night hit Level 60 HC. It's not "hard", but you need to be on your toes and not take the game for granted. Besides that the AH there is more stable due to dramatically fewer players and more players leveling and needing to be geared in the middle difficulties/acts. Just thoughts for you since it definitely helped me get more enjoyment out of the game.

posted a message on That feeling when you make a 40m mistake!
First green I ever saw was a Nat's cloak with +10 Max Disc.
My wife wore it for weeks (I'm a barb, she's a DH), and we had no idea of it's worth.
When she finally was replacing it with a rare, I took it and found that (at the time) I could get *gasp* 30 Mil for it.
We were scraping by with maybe a Mil between us at the time, so it seemed like unbelievable riches to us.
If only I knew then how much it was REALLY worth...sigh...

posted a message on Grim Harvest Question
Apologies if this has been discussed in a past thread...

Does Grim Harvest shout affect mobs more than once?
Basically could you go to a lower level area, round up many mobs, then shout on cooldown to have them drop gold/whites/etc?

I figured you guys here would've already thought of that and have an easy answer.

    Thought I'd give an update.

Changed out a few skills last night.
Ground Stomp --> Leap w/Armor Rune
    Bloodthirst --> Tough as Nails
    Pound of Flesh --> Relentless

Just want to say that I'm a believer in Leap now, it's awesome and I love the skill.

The extra survivability from the passives really keeps me alive on champion packs.

We full-cleared Act 1 and killed the butcher on 2nd try with 5 stacks of NV. Good times.

Even got a Legendary Skorn (2h axe), but it had Int on it and only mediocre stats.

Oh well, good times, and I appreciate the feedback, definitely got me on the right track. :)

    Awesome feedback. Much appreciated.

Although it makes me curious, it seems like there is already so many "required" skills / passives for Barbarians in Inferno.

Basically make yourself a brick defensively, and then try and still do enough damage to kill stuff.

I suppose that's normal for the hardest difficulty, but it's a little disappointing that there aren't more viable builds.

I'll definitely be trying out the armor passives, the leap w/armor rune, and maybe even try and find a slot for the furious charge w/ dreadnaught rune.

Thanks everyone, hopefully this (with some added gear eventually) will take me up to "the next level" of play.

Thanks Lylz for the quick feedback.

I've never gotten the hang of Leap or Furious Charge. Some sort of mental block, I think.
As it is though, I guess I could try swapping Ignore Pain with Leap to test the defensive capability (and added mobility) of the skills. That's what this is all about anyways - finding the skills that work. :)

I've been addicted to Bloodthirst ever since I unlocked it. But I never knew about the DR on life leech. Thank you, I'll dispatch it immediately.

I only recently found that I really like Pound of Flesh - lots more health globes and they heal great.

But if I were to swap in one of the defensive armor passives instead of Bloodthirst, which is more effective by itself, Nerves of Steel or Tough as Nails? I don't really have any thorns on my gear intentionally.

    I appreciate the thoughts.

    Hi all,
Was hoping to get some feedback and thoughts about my build and ideas to push it to the next level.

I have been running with a 4-man group consisting of Barb (me), DH (wife), Wizard, and Monk.

We cleared Diablo Hell last night. Since my wife and I were the only two 60s we started into Act 1 Inferno while the other two leveled a bit more in Hell to catch up.

I've been running with this build:
    http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/barbarian#WVYPkR!dae!acZZcb

I finished Act 4 Hell using a two-hander purchased on the AH which around 950 dps.
But I felt so squishy in Act 1 Inferno that I bought a one-hander / shield combo which makes me feel a bit less spikey in damage.

Obviously from my build, my playstyle consists of running in, gathering mobs with GS, Revenge for dmg/health, and using WotB or Ignore Pain as cooldowns as the situation calls for them.

My armor is around 4500, my resists are around 300, my damage is around 12,000, my health is around 29,000 - all approximate of course.

Can I get some feedback from people who have been here?
I want to both support my group when we play together (which is most of the time), and also be viable in solo-play when I get time apart.

Basically I can burn down blues pretty easily, unless they have plagued, desecrator, molten, etc. Some of those affixes can be rough for melee.

Loving the game, by the way.
Thanks in advance for any responses.

posted a message on Who else is suffering at work?
I chuckled when I read the thread subject.

    Not really "suffering" here.
I work in IT, so my internet isn't throtled like most users (thankfully).
So I read forums, play with builds, and otherwise amuse myself as I have time.

I was up at 3am though and got in a solid 2.5 hours of playtime before I had to logout.
Can't wait for more tonight though. :)
