i don't know why everyone is always bitching, you need to keep in mind that this is not an MMO like WoW, people don't pay monthly fees to cover the cost of tremendous (let's hope so at least) upcoming patches. The real-money auction house can not be compared with a must-be-paid for game, since it's entirely up to you whether you buy something from it or don't.
Any other company usually just says "meh, we just fucked up with this game lets move on", but they don't change the entire core of a game that has been out for over a year.
Yes, it's taking long, yes, it's annoying, but hey... I give Blizzard some credit for trying, they really want to save the reputation of a Diablo game.
You are absolutely correct, about the fact that this is not a pay to play game. The real money auction house cannot be compared to a model like World of Warcraft. On the other hand I think you are missing the point completely. We are not bitching for no good reason. The problem is that while they are not obligated to fix things they have been saying they are fixing things for over a year. They keep doing little tidbits of information that is not even relative or relevant to what they have been saying they are going to do.
Yes they have in not so many words said that they have a lot of work to do in fixing the game to where they want to be, and while they have fixed it a lot of things and maybe game more playable there are still some fundamental problems that have not been addressed. With me correct myself a limit on that, they have recognized the problems said they are working on it which is good but they have also said that they communicate better with us on what is actually going on and what they got planned even if it isn't something that will actually make it to a release candidate for the game.
That is what a lot of us are angry about not the fact that they are being slowly things but it's the lack of communication and the fact they say they want to have more communication but basically have been just saying here's an update but we have nothing to say.
Not to mention things like where the latest blue posts list say forget about the next patch that we would expect to help explains it more so he leads to changes they are making that will lead into either expansion or a 1.1 patch.
Of course you have to look at the site of this people are going to complain for the sheer sake of complaining. But the fact of the matter still remains that they have been promising to be more communicative with us and basically just keep saying that without being communicative.
Actually taking the time out of some of the community managers day to address these concerns and to actually give us real information that is going on behind the scenes is what a lot of us are actually looking for. Currently in game there is a lot of things that I could be doing and have been doing but at the same time it is not giving me the feeling of what Diablo should be.
Another thing that people are bitching about is the consul release. While more likely than not I will be given a copy for my PlayStation 4 when it does come out that is still long time away and they have assured us that the consul and the PC version have separate development teams. While of course I'm inclined to believe them I don't think that is the whole truth. Since the release of the last patch not including the bug fix where they made Tristram a safe zone, virtually nothing in the news blog posts tweets or other forms of media has been about anything other than the console's and all of the great changes they have made to the game that will be included in. Some of those features we have been wanting in the PC version for a long time but we're still going to have to wait for it.
That is why a lot of people are bitching. I to will give blizzard some credit where it is due but they lose face when they promised something as simple as communication and do not deliver on those promises.

I'm afraid that 'real' gamplay/loot changes will be when the expansion pack arrives. Thats what i think after reading those blue comments. Thats what i understand when i read that ' but the changes we are working on will greatly impact many areas of the game, including core gameplay elements'.
I agree with that, and thats why i think we will have to wait till expansion. Guess better late than never.Quote from Zeyk23
Presumably the changes they're making to loot are so drastic that it also has impact on skill balance, and skills are being tweaked accordingly, so they can't release the skill changes by themselves.
Of course this is probably most likely the situation. I've been speculating on this for a while now. I suppose being late is better than none at all but the same time you can't justify using expansion to fix what needs to be fixed. A good analogy to this would be to buy a brand-new car this year and they are some serious problems with it so the company releases a new version of the car that addresses all those problems but you have to buy a new car to actually have those problems fixed.
I am excited for expansion not for the fact that they will hopefully have the majority of problems fixed but rather that there will be more content for us to play with. God forbid they put something for endgame people more than just paragon levels.

I really wish they'd do a 'WTF are we actually up to' post, because they're basically been saying "We're overhauling items, skills and the interactions between them, as well as seriously changing other other aspects of the game" for ages, and I don't know if that means they've got the most uber-awesome superpatch on the way, or just working on a "yeah, we're changing all the numbers, and that's about it... but the expansion is going to great! kekekeke" pile of underwhelming bleh.
I want to come up to the lab.
And see what's on the slab.
I'm sure they'll show us when they have something interesting to show. When everything is still on paper and only has a few hundred lines of code/proto-art attached to it you don't really have anything useful to show.
I'm sure they will show us to when they have something to show the problem is it that we would like an update on what is actually going on in what is possibly being planned for the proposed changes. Blizzard is notorious for not releasing any information until right before his right to go live. That is the real problem, rather I should say that is one of the problems with the company itself. A lot of people do not care what exactly they report on but the fact that they need to report on being what is going on. Of course I do not speak for everybody but I'm sure there is more than a fair share people who feel the same way.
A very simple and easy example of this would be to say that they are working on something and here are some of the ideas we are kicking around. Even if these ideas are kicking around don't actually make it into the game it would be good for community interaction for them to actually share some of their ideas. I'm not asking for every little tidbit but they still need to give the community something if they expect us to continue playing their game and possibly by an expansion.

I don't care about their stupid blogs. They said 1.0.9 will be released aftertheBlizzcon a few weeks ago. yay, another 7 months waiting for 2 weeks of fun.
It is actually four months not seven. And why you might not care about their "stupid blogs", you might want to actually consider helping contribute questions when they do open up for people to ask. Also I think you're missing the fact that most people are looking for more than just two weeks of "fun". The idea of the next patch is supposed to provide content fixes will make the game more enjoyable and more playable than just a small burst of entertainment. If you truly feel that it will only be two weeks of fun I highly recommend you check out other alternatives for your entertainment needs. -

I'm really confused here.
To start off they say we should forget about an update/content patch that would be 1.0.9?
So does this mean they are basically telling us that the expansion will be out before another update to D3 in it's current state? Or is it because they are working on the console version. Before anyone get's the flame on about "well they have separate dev teams", yeah yeah, heard it before but it's starting to become clear to me that while they have separate teams, I have the sneaky suspicion that they trade people from one team to another as needed to get the console version out. I am just speculating? Absolutely. It is important to emphasize though, that patch 1.0.8 is not the last and final update to the game! In fact we are working hard on new and improved content for Diablo III, including loot 2.0...
Next:
Yeah, right as soon as you see the "but" you know the rest is almost moot. Yes they have been saying for ages now that they want to really communicate more with the community and what not, "but" they have not been and then to just admit outright they are sucking, and hard, at this is almost like getting slapped by rick james....and I can assure you that you guys will get more detailed information about these things we are working on as development continues.
I know we have been saying this a lot lately, but...
I would imagine that an expansion would take up the majority of the time, but with the release of the console version so close I really don't think there is that much work going into the now missing 1.0.9 update. Yeah I'm a bit pissed off about it....the changes we are working on will greatly impact many areas of the game, including core gameplay elements...
.
Your joking right? You said you want to share and talk to the community, but when someone asks outright about getting more information, in the form of a blog posting, about anything, you say nope and GTFO of my office (at least thats the way it seems to me). You go on to say that "the developers would like to do more Q&A sessions", right but... where are they? When was the last one.. I have to check... April 8th. Yeah that was just shy of three months ago. I'm very confused why they would say they want to do it but have not done one in such a long time. Of course the argument could be made that they are working on the next patch but they just say they are not.ETA of the blog then?
That will not be possible I think because I am not yet entirely sure that we will be ready to share detailed information on all the things that is being worked on at the same time.
Speaking of patches. The last patch was on May 7th for patch 1.0.8, which was two months ago. I'm getting the feeling all the time they have right now is being spent on getting for blizzcon, the console release and something else they of course have not told us about.
Do I want the changes now? Of course I do like everyone else, but I realize that it is a massive undertaking. However, at the same time everyone in the community would like to know at least what the heck is going on rather than dangling a plastic carrot hoping we will power the treadmill like some classic cartoon. -

That being said, I am really wanting to do higher MP but like it was mentioned already a few times, the rewards for higher MP are not worth it right now versus the gear level, paragon and efficiency and pay off.Posted in: News
higher xp rewards IMO for higher MP. 1 1/2 times more or even higher for the upper (mp5+) would make them more appealing to me. Or just calculate the average xp an hour versus the amount of health the mob has in the higher MP and use that data to factor the xp bonus. ~shrug~
Example: a mob takes 1 second to kill on mp0 and is worth 100% xp, same mob in mp5 takes 5 seconds to kill so would be worth 350% xp. -

Re-read what i stated please ; They had the very format of which the AH would obey to, already in a earlier form of development. Assuming that has not gone to be collecting dust somewhere, i can LOGICALLY assume that it is not hard to make this change - And it was also in response to a person who actually went to mock another user for being Vague, and now when i am not being vague for that person, i am getting attacked by pitchforks.
And how i know that it does not require extensive testing with the waller bug? Because they already did increase minimum range of the mortar, how hard it is to actually have a thing FUNCTION as it is supposed to, in contrast to writing me off as if i cannot speak on this forums with authority? The authority i can speak for, is what i paid for - That is a authority you cannot question. And when i payed for D3, it did not say "Littered with bugs".
It is in fact only a BAD thing, so don't make me have to re-evaluate my authority when i am the customer - I paid for this shit, if it's broken - It's to get fixed, the customer is always right.
And no, i do not manage Game systems, i am as a matter of fact a customer who just wants his moneys worth - And that goes above any white knighting you might do on a forum, because at the end of the day, I paid money for a product, that product is to work, if it does not, they are guilty to fix this - because the product cannot do anything but reflect what is advertised.
Hi, I'm a programer and I can tell you simply adding a number to a value of a skill dose not 'fix' the problem in this case for mortar. The bug lies within the waller (or some other skill) and it's effects with targeting and then carrying over the target range into it's other skills (in this case mortar). When they made the change to mortar and it's minim range that was an easy fix witch got changed really quick.
Earlier form of development was not that long ago, it was called beta, and I was in the entire beta testing and you won't believe how many things changed. Just because something is planned or was in-development dose not mean it will make it into the game. Things like the AH is a very complex system and the database and processing that is calculated and served with the amount of data is simply staggering to say the least and I work with databases. It dose take a bit more than one person who never sleeps in a basement office to make changes to a system that is stressed already from the amount of abuse it gets
Yes you did pay for a license to play the game but I'm sure you didn't read the EULA and TOS witch include statements about bugs and fixes. New games have them all the time. If they where perfect on release it would be nothing short of a miracle. Even console games have patches to fix things on day 1. What you pay for is a license to play the game and agree to their rules, and some of us don't like that or agree on how it 'should' work but that's what we give up to play this game. It's like driving. We want to go fast and not have to stop, but we have to follow the law and that is what we agree to while we drive.
For the comment of 'the customer is always right', this again is not the case. We bought the game as is and as it evolves into what ever it will end up being. We should be grateful that blizzard even takes the time to listen to us, let alone makes fixes and changes from our direct feed back. If only we had more companies that listened to it's customers as much as blizzard dose. Now I'm not saying that they are the best company ever, they have their own share of flaws, but it's a lot better than trying to get someone like apple to release information about their upcoming releases, god forbid our feed back.
Not coming at you with pitch forks and torches. No need to up in arms. We, rather I guess myself, just trying to help you understand the other side of the coin with out the rage. Am I happy about the current state of the game? Absolutely not, but I'm trying to work with it until it changes again. -
Jun 19, 2012Kodaijin posted a message on Patch 1.0.3 Official Patch NotesIf anyone has not logged in yet, here is the rundown of what I've seen so far:Posted in: News
-about 10% more iLVL61+ drops
-Repair costs 2,000-9,000gold per death
-DH damage dropping around 50% effectively taking away the cannon part of glass cannon and now we are just glass.
-Overall attack speed/APS from 3.10 to 1.40 ish for builds/gear sets with IAS
-Negative gain doing Jailer/Butcher runs because of repair costs.
~sigh~ guess I will finally level my monk to 60 making my 5th max level
Getting really tiered about this. Warning us of something that is going to happen, but sneaking in a bunch of other little things.
Wouldn't be no where near as bad if it was for the repair costs. -

I like the trading post idea but I'm sure it would never happen because of the aforementioned reason. The current AH is helpful for the more casual players who don't spend the time to farm, but it's almost like it's part of the game as a requirement not an optional thing that, to me, should of been.
Beyond that, I'm really on board with all the other ideas and think they would fit very well in the game. The mystic (witch I still don't get why it was cut from the game), and the expanded dungeons are brilliantly presented ;p

Recently I've been looking to do more things to keep my interest in Diablo 3 than just doing XP running and DE runs of VoA over and over again. So where did I turn to? Public Games. The first dozen or so where fine (at least my impression). Had a decent pace and while I noticed that I was doing way more damage than anyone else, I just kept doing my thing and helped out with damage and what not.
However (bet you where waiting for this), every game thus far in the last few days there has always been something that makes me want to leave the public games and crawl back into my hole. Of these things I'll give my top few and explain them out a bit, not that I really need to.
1. "Join party, and walk into people fighting over text". Yeah 99% of the time, I just leave and not bother saying anything. Don't want to be dragged into stupid E-Drama or people just butting heads to butt heads. Not really much to talk about on this one.
2. "I am kill too much, too fast". Well to be fair, most people I run into with the public games are around 50-100k damage with very weird builds and very sub-par gear for the MP I set. Typically I run in the MP4 in public's as that is where I find the most people other than MP1 (witch is just a yawn fest and don't do it anymore). Every few games I get the complaint either in a whisper or in party chat, along the lines, "slow down", "let us kill some stuff", "if your killing that fast why are you even playing with other people!?", ect ect. Do I leave the group behind sometimes? Absolutely. Do I feel bad a little when it happens, sure. Here is the problem I see very often from the same people who complain. They don't have 24% run speed and are always trying to play catch up. So in response to that I slow my self down and literately do circles around them while we get to the next pack. My main is a TR/Bell monk so speed is sort of my things (although been doing more dual wield in groups to 'slow down'), and when I'm running with TR (tailwind of course), I am almost always having to back track for the group to catch up. Annoying but can't be helped. The other part to this is, I can't see my self reviewing gear, crafting and doing all the other stuff I normally do in solo play, but these people will stick around town for a long time. Like enough time to get a cup of tea, have a smoke and text my BF or what ever else. Personally I think it's because your playing group play that it should be streamline, not hanging out hold up people. Of course I know the response to that, "just move to the next area with out them", and then they complain. It's like there is no winning with these people.
3. "Too slow OR someone else jumps ahead". Ok so sometimes I slow my self down way too much and the occasional person will speak up to get back with the group. Typically though it's because they are missing whole packs of mobs and champions/elites along the way. Of course someone always has to complaining about me killing them before they get there. I try to wait at least 20 seconds for people to get over to me before I start to drop bells like a church on holiday, but sometimes they take forever to get over to me (like whole mins) and then still complain. I try to point out that they missed the pack on the way trying to speed run farm (not farming when you miss a bunch), or that it only takes 10 seconds to TP to town and click on my banner.
I try to keep a good attitude but it's hard when every group has someone who wants to be a dill hole. At first I really thought I was just getting trolled or something but it happens far too often for it to be just that.
I can't be alone in this. It can't just be a paragon 70+ club I'm missing right? Or the billionaire's gear county club?
What are your experiences in group play with random people?
0
I know that recently in one of the patches (have not been playing much until 1.0.8) that there was some sort of change that 'fixed' the rubber banding issues but I seem to be experiencing them quite often.
Is there anything I can do on my end to help this?
NOTES:
I have VS (Vertical Sync) Turned off (unchecked)
I have a AMD Phenom II X4 965 @ 3.40GHz, 8GB 1600 RAM, 120SSD + 2TB data HD, ATi 6950 2GB Video card.
PS: I just had a pack I ran into that I let kill me a few times that has the vortex affix that I could repeat the jumping around when it would pull me in and then I would TR out of it then be put right back into plague and deescalation.

Depends what you would call geared. There is quite a difference in a gear set for doing MP10 vs demonic farming vs paragon farming.
I would love to see items that have paragon level requirements for like 'artifact' quality level items but it will never happen. The reason is, like I said in my post above, that blizzard has already stated they do not want to make paragon leveling a requirement to get the best stuff, but it's more like a fun thing to do at end game. While getting paragon 100 opens up a lot in terms for farming and what not, and giving you 200 more vit and 300 more main stat (witch is equal to a perfect rolled item on top of your stats), it is still not required for anything and very few people have actually made it to paragon 100 (statistically speaking).
0
Just because you don't agree with the OP dose not mean he/she is wanting to remake LOD. In the very least you could just provide some feedback rather than unnecessary flaming.
Agreed.
I agree with you that 'AT' Paragon 100 there should be some sort of different bonuses because three of the four gems types become worthless for the helmet socket. That being said I can already hear what blizzard will say: "We don't want people thinking they have to reach paragon level 100 to get the best of out what is already offered in the game."
A far better solution would be to add more gem types that would have the bonuses like described rather than change what happens with an item when certain conditions are meet (para 100 in this case). Things like diamonds, sapphires, onyx, citrine, and fire opal to name a few. Another neat idea would be to allow the combination of gems. For example we could combine an emerald and a ruby to make tourmaline that would have half the benefits of the single gems by them self's. This way we could use them at all levels and not just at max level with some more variety and options ;p
0
That helps quite a bit actually Thank you Sonicboom

I only ask because I've seen some contradictory information out there. Things like better to craft vit items and hope for a good roll on main stat. Or that you can only have one stat from a "Group" of stats. And some other weird things (some completely off the wall too).
Is there a resource to look at or something that can clear this all up?

I'll give that a shot. Kind of figures Act4 is still undesirable
/game_changer that would be. ~nod nod~
I actually have a a LS skorn but it's decent at best. Never really thought about getting a SoJ with the bonuses. I'll check into that. As for getting AR to drop OWE, yeah, maybe one day but like you said that's really expensive >_>
Thanks too all the comments guys

I'm curious if the alkaizer run's are still the best now with the changes for XP/hour?
Also if anyone using the TR build can take a look at my gear and tell me what I could/should upgrade next and aprox what MP would be good (I typically run MP1).

^great website for looking at upgrades but as it is right now everything needs help.

Well I would blow some of your gold you have right now on some crappy weapons with some kind of LoH just to get though inferno. Then when you want to start farming/xp farming/legendary farming we can talk more. There are a few different methods. I got about 400million into my gear that I use for AC2 MP8-MP10 farming for xp and lengendaries. For farming DE and keys, well that's a different story.
0
1. drop the shield, if your trying to clear inferno you don't need the shield and lots of monks (including my self) have not used a shield in like forever.
2. Your MH/OH needs a lot of help. You have no LoH, LaK, or LS. I would look at getting some crappy OH that has LS and a socket and put an emerald in there. For your MH get something fast like a fist with LoH with a socket, an echoing fury could do the same if you get some crit damage and your budget will support it.
3. Swap Deadly reach for thunder fist quick. Will hit way faster and you have a ton of EHP for just doing MP0 (386k as of right now)
4. Your crit hit chance is super super super low. 8.5% is really really low. aim for something like 40% over various items. And while you at it your crit damage is only 50% so that needs some help as well.
5. overall gear: most of the stuff you have is going to need help. It's really going to depend on what you want to do. Your EHP is high but your vitality is a bit low but doable just to beat inferno on MP0. You have way too much resists unless your going to be looking at doing really high MP later on.
For builds and what not you got the Cyclone build that a lot of people use so your fine there for doing a dual wield thing. Can give some better advice if I know what your looking at doing.
