Think Grievuuz said it pretty well, it's a rather defensive set, with a number of guaranteed affixes that are probably not considered top-notch in softcore where damage is king. But yeah the 4-piece set bonus is a thing of beauty. I've not gathered 4 pieces myself but given how much Countess Julia's Cameo makes me smile, for sure immunity to Desecrate, Molten and Plagued would make me smile three times as much.
Actually.. leave off Blackthorne's amulet, take the other 4 pieces and combine them with Julia's, and ignore so much crap on the ground!!

Like you both and I said in OP, the set is not end game stuff (Unless your doing the tank role in HC I guess), but it's fun as hell. I usually see some DH or Wiz dying while standing with me after killing a molten pack. I'm doing T2-T3 so the set is helping me a lot. (Waiting for cindercoat ATM for awesome fire dps)
I'm the only one who love this set? I know it's not optimal or endgame stuff. But it does feels great to stand without moving in all that stuuf monsters like to throw at our feet. I'm now trying to roll fire damage on my neck, no lucky at all =(
Well, I'm not seeing this wall. I entered ROS with full legacy legendaries and only 2 mimilion gold. Poor dps and stuff, I got some rare itens and passed through T1 (Malthael was a pain). And yet I'm with a good weapon and working on my fire build (was using boulder fists but it's not reliable like fire), crafting gems (already did the last rank of emerald for my weapon). This week I only did Manglemaw runs, found few upgrades for my barb, but already have some nice gear for my future crusader. D3 is about farm (A LOT of farm), patience and some intuition about items that would be good in build X or Y. Play the game, change classes and modes, this way your fun factor will last till next expansion.
Just a update about this fire spec. I tried use your build, but it was not very smooth to my play style. So, I adapted the build to "The man with Fire Fists"
I'm currently sitting at 74% fire damage. Bash with Instigation has some nice damage and generates a good amount of Fury. Hammer of the Ancients with Smash is HUGE. Massive attacks that squeeze elites in seconds (T2-T3 with my gear). For mobility and more dps you have Furious Charge with Battering Ram. Fury generation you can count with Ground Stomp with Foot of The Mountain (also a great dps output) and War Cry with Charge. For extreme burst you have Wrath of the Berserker with Insanity.
Passives I'm using Unforgiving (it's nice to have some fury stocked while running after mobs) and Bloodthirst, since I'm lacking some armor and regen It's helping me a lot at the moment.
Bonus: Manglemaw build lol (less than 30 seconds fight at Torment V)
Gotta try this build at home. I have some cool fire gear (no soj yet). I guess I have 70-80% fire damage counting all my pieces ( Including Maximus with 2.746 dps). Let's hope for the best lol
Never play HC in the first 2 weeks after a release. Servers crash a lot, high latency, etc. I already lost a HC hero when D3 first came out. Server spike = GG without proper gear. Don't QQ and build another toon ASAP. The only certain you have while playing HC is: YOUR HERO WILL DIE. Not today, not tomorrow, just one day =)
Since D2 the game turned into a strong social experience to me. Met really good folks while trading, and saw some priceless deaths in HC while in group. When D3 came out I didn't enjoyed the social aspect since AH killed all player2player interaction. I quite before paragon was introduced because I was only playing alone. I'm hoping now that after some time they allow trades and make D3 a great social hub like D2 was to me. Definitily I'm not a solo player hahaha, although I enjoy to play solo on the first playthrough.
