I'm no huge fan, but I've been there when Diablo was released and played the heck out of it, as well as Diablo 2, however it was at least 2-3 years since I played Diablo 2 last time (I blame Sacred 1 & 2, Torchlight and Titan's Quest).
I don't mind the changes. I mean, do we really want Diablo 2 clone, down to everything except story? I know I don't.
Games evolve, today games are much different than back in early 2000. I am neutral about RMAH. Diablo 3 is not a subscription based game and there will be expenses that have to be covered somehow. You can try to earn a bit of cash on it, or could just ignore it. It wont affect you, really. There will probably be bots, but my guess is that they won't be able to farm higher difficulties where the best items are.
Heroes of Newerth started out as a one time purchase and then you could play with no way of developers being able to earn more money except from new players buying the game. But then there was the cost of server maintenance, paychecks, etc etc. And it's a fairly popular game. They had to go F2P and add a microtransaction shop.
Give it some time, Blizzard have never created a crappy game.

I have friends on my Battle.net account added via WoW, but I'm not playing that game anymore. My question is the same as in topic, will I be able to chat to my friends via battle.net while I'm playing D3 and they are playing WoW?
