Here are my thoughts: Graphics: This is disappointing. The whole thing is too cartoony. I wanted it to be a lot more realistic and dark. As in almost horrifying, yet the textures on the items are so bad... It would even be bad for a 5 year old game. I don't think this should pass in 2012.
I am a graphic whore I love to run everything on ultra and I do spend the money on it. I do understand that not everything can have graphics like Serious Sam 3 or The Witcher 2, but DAMN it's 2012. At least put in some AA, so I don't have to look at the jaggedy edges. Characters: I only tried out 3 of the classes. The Barb, very satisfying and powerful, a joy to play. Cleaving through enemies with dual wield weapons and bleeding them out. Loved it. The Mage, *yawn* not even going to waste time with this boring as hell. Mind you I never liked casters, and this is just weak. The Monk, a bit strange in the first levels, but after you get used to it it is similarly good, but not as much as the Barb. I don't like it that the weapons I equip are out when I run, but disappear when I start attacking.
If I ever buy this game I will surely main a Barbarian. I like smashing faces. Gameplay: Fun for some time, but I didn't get the same feel as I did with D2. It's the same grind grind grind. The story isn't very compelling either, but wasn't expecting much. The physics is great, I spent a great deal just smashing the furniture and walls to pieces, and the zombies getting splattered all over the floor was nice to watch. Sound: The music was ... ok, nothing special. They tried to mimic the music from D1 with new tristram, but yeah... I'm not 12 anymore so a nice tune on acoustic guitar is not enough for me. The menu sound effects are nice, most of the attacks have nice sounds but some of them felt weak (especially on the Mage).
And now with numbers: Graphics: 2/5 Gameplay: 3.5/5 Sound: 3/5 Overall: 3/5
Will I buy it?
Not for 60 euros, but for 30 surely.
