No but multiple other abilities do those exact things either more efficiently or without sacrificing positioning. Given how ridiculously good SS is going to be for your own escape, choosing FoK over, say, traps which can be maneuvered around the battlefield providing the damage debuff, caltrops which has a longer and more effective snare (runed), or another ranged aoe stun effect that doesn't require melee range seems like a gimped choice to make. To each their own. I do think it's an interesting build, and will be a STAPLE of mine if SS if nerfed, but until then I can't see any build not taking SS and i see no need for ANY additional personal defense given how ridiculous it is for escape.

Grenades are midrange at best. I'll be fairly close to everything. Thats why caltrops roots, vault stuns, and FoK is there :)

I would say If i went with different generator than grenades I would change the build significantly.

FoK seems pretty damn solid if you make a build completely around it. I just don't see how it would be necessary to spend a skill slot on it when smoke screen is by far the best escape mechanic in the game and all you really need.

Because smokescreen doesn't reduce the mobs dmg by 25% for 3 second, for others not just yourself, while doing good damage and peeling for your party members.

there should be a sticky with class descriptions:

    Barb: Tanky DPS
    Monk: Melee DPS
    DH: Ranged DPS
    Wizard: Magic DPS
    WD: Summon DPS
    Those descriptions suck balls...

I know for certain the wizard uses every dmg type, including physical.
Barb's are no more tanks, than monks.

really? I know this isn't WoW but that doesn't mean there isn't a tanking aspect, it's just more peeling oriented.
http://us.battle.net...Rdgk!UVe!cacaYb looks like a solid tank build to me.
Also the majority of a wizards spells are not physical dmg.

Simply put 35% HP cap is too high, you die in 3-4 hits and if they come close enough together or you get stunned or similar in the meantime then it's game over. Could work vs a single very strong foe that doesn't spawn any adds at all.. Aka won't work.
In inferno you die in 3-4 hits anyways....If this works the way as expected, then your survivability in inferno would actually go up.

Obviously, this build is focused too much on defensive abilities and lacks therefore damage. There is no gain in surviving almost everything if you are unable to kill something. Balance is the key.

Nope. You can focus on damages and dext/block since you don't need any other defensive affixes. http://diablonut.inc...m/planner/19796
    Good point.
But why bother using a shield? The armor is rather meaningless since you have no HP.

The shield would allow you to block which completely negates the attack. Why wouldn't you, I mean if your concern was getting hit too many times in succession.

there seem to be no need for fan of knives in the build, you cant possibly use everything.

FoK is pretty good damage and in my particular build it's an Oh shit for me. It will also help when I'm vaulting into mobs to help peel for somebody else it gives me more time to get out. Not to mention it's - 25% dmg for 3 seconds for mobs and bosses that do get to close to me or others.

For group play this honestly almost seems OP.

It will be essential to have a lot of CC in your group come inferno. DH actually gets the short end of the stick for CC effects as they are all procs, aside from vault- runed and caltrops- runed.

I'm surprised how many people overlook how good numbing traps can be for ranged mobs and bosses. It's nicer with spike trap since you can target that but it's still very good. I haven't seen a single DH build that used it.

Objective is to keep mobs permanently stunned, so your team can annihilate them.
This build concept is 1st degree demon RAPE.

EDIT: Elemental Arrow - Lightning bolts - also stuns when it crits.

Very close to my control build.

    http://us.battle.net...hYdP!Vcg!YaYZZa
to clarify I picked cull of hte weak over archery because I would likely use a hxb over anything else with this set up for more stun output and I expect everything to be snared and 15% dmg > 10% crit. Especially since there is nothing in my build that plays off crit.

However, if I got a good bow I would switch Cull of the weak out for archery. If I had a good Xbow I would go with a crit centric build and have archery.

    Quote from Nausicaa

"Best" MFing class is hard to pick atm, as we don't know how easily it will be to farm in late hell or inferno.

Will it be so easy that you just run around with your max movement speed, 1 shotting mobs left and right. Or will you need to keep most of your "normal" gear just to be able to kill the mobs at all? We just don't know yet. If I compare with D2, the Necromancer could definitely wear the most +MF gear and still kill stuff fast, but unless he had enigma (for teleport) he was nowhere as good as a Sorc when it came to solo boss farming.

As farming at end-game will probably mean: Run around, until you find and kill 5 champion packs (for max Valor buff), then go kill the act boss. It's quite hard to tell, yet, which will be the best MFer.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that the WD is probably the class that can carry the most MF gear and still kill stuff well, but if the farming game is all about rushing from place to place, then a teleporting wizard (if the rune works as theorized), vaulting demon hunter (again, if rune words as theorized) or a tempest monk might be the best MFer because of sheer speed.

DH> Wiz Since arcane power is also killing power.

posted a message on Getting a SSD For DIII. is it worth it ?
    Quote from overneathe

What I've gathered from reading and testing... It's not so much the on-the-go loading that matters as is the constant pulling of assets from the servers. This was actually a clientside bug on the Beta that will not be present on Live according to many blue posts.
So the "stuttering" you may find in the Beta test is almost certainly coming from that constant pulling of assets.

A big part of this bug was pulling audio files, as they are mostly larger. If you lower your audio quality to 16bits you'll notice the stuttering will lower as well (if you suffer from that issue).

I also think an SSD will not help with D3 in the slightest. My 7200 HDD passes the loading screen in about 2 seconds after which there is only the occasional stutter when loading new assets like spell effects, that haven't been used during that play session and other things like that. :]
This is exactly where an SSD would help. It's not a huge difference but it will most certaintly provide smoother gameplay. What you're saying is akin to 60hz monitors being as smooth and responsive as 120hz monitors. Just because the 60hz monitor works doesn't mean it can't be done better.

However, in most games, situations like this aren't encountered often, unless you are strapped for RAM.

Good thing I already said it happens in D3. As was already stated in this very thread by others. The game loads things that will cause FPS drops while you're playing. An SSD alleviates this.

Once you're loaded, SSD vs. HDD is meaningless. It's all GPU from that point on*. So an SSD isn't going to improve your PvP success.

They are nice, and make great OS drives, but in general I'd consider them a luxury item with little value for gaming. Especially the 60 GB one you're looking at. It'll get very cramped, especially when you factor in future D3 expansion packs and the many programs that insist on being on your C-drive.

    * Assuming you have enough RAM and CPU performance, of course.

Except some games such as D3 do some loading once you're already in the game. So in that case an SSD would help. But yes, you're right, as long as everything is preloaded at a loading screen it wouldn't affect gameplay.

    Quote from shaiden

no single video game is worth that much money. my vote is no. and if you really want the extra stuff long term, im guessing you can find collectors editions on ebay down the road as people tire of D3 and sell theirs =]

Ya... that doesn't work at least for the in-game stuff.

As for the OP. If you have the money to spare and are a big diablo fan.. then sure. Don't let anyone tell you that you should or shouldn't. It's just a matter of whether or not you have the money to spare.

Personally, I bought 6 CE's with the intent of using only 1 and reselling the rest. I'm sure you'll see some cheaper ones than 200.00 on ebay(at first) where they regretted the purchase or couldn't afford it.
