That may be true, but margins for blizzard are going to grow smaller and smaller, and eventually become less and less of those transactions once people start to stop trying to sell via the AH since profits are so minute.

There is no significant margin on a RMAH transaction. Blizzard gets a piece of the sale, and it effectively costs them nothing to do it. As long as RMAH sales occur, Blizzard makes money.

You'll see more expansion content with D3 than you did with D2.

The RMAH gives Blizzard a defined source of revenue to fun continued development work on addition content. A ladder system or reset isn't needed.

I'm sorry, but this is blatantly false.

prove it, I've seen nothing that suggests otherwise.

The Warden caught the predecessor to Glider that was used for teleport hacking in Dire Maul, and that repeatable Tanaris egg turnin quest. It was the #1 tool by far for the gold farmers to use back in the day.

Warden may not always been effective in what it does, but it's purpose is anti-bot / anti-cheat.

I think the beta doesn't have Warden so you can expect hacks/bots in it?

Blizzard also probably does hot-spotting or pattern detection on your movements... and investigate fishy ones. You'd be amazed at some of the data games/apps collect now.

The warden is designed to gather personal information, not catch bots. Besides, they make millions off of botters, they have little interest in shutting them down, except for some symbolic ban waves to make people think they are doing something about it.

I'm sorry, but this is blatantly false.

Where's all the butthurt coming from?

They've made it clear they are going to add PvP arena options into the game, just not for release. People are acting like it's never happening.

When the developers say 'We have no intention of doing things to make Diablo 3 viable for eSports', it's safe to say that long discussions about Diablo3 and eSports are fairly fruitless.

You'll get your PvP arenas. That's it.

Thanks for chasing it down. That reminded me of where the confusion came from:

    http://www.diablofans.com/blizz-tracker/topic/218956-pre-purchase/

That seemed to imply that you could pre-download / pre-install, but Bash's response to you couldn't have been clearer that's not the case.

    Thanks again!

So with Global Play, what's going to stop every American from simply selecting the Europe region at 6 PM on the 14th (east coast time) and logging in that way?
the fact that noone in the US will have an active game license is the thing stopping us.

Retailers wont sell until midnight, and Digital preorder does not activate as a game license until 12:01 PDT

I don't want to seem argumentative, but I don't think that is correct.

I've digitally pre-ordered, and my battle.net account shows an account status of 'active' and a region of 'global' under Diablo 3. This is the full game, not the beta.

The only thing I can't do yet is actually install the game client.

Which you wont be able to do until 12:01 PST when the key is fully active on your account, this was in the offical blog post (also worked like this for other digital preorders.

GIve me 1 sec to do an update with news and then ill update this post with the info =)

Ah...I had thought I read they were unlocking the game client install a couple days before launch since it didn't matter with no servers up. I must have misread something.

    Thanks for clearing that up.
