It' s going the same way as Rogues tanking everything in WoW back in the day.

    They don't want it so it's buh-bye.

    nat mark = new soj
    100m = 1 nat mark
    10 marks for a manticore

We'll see how that works out. The old set bonus is pretty OP.

Good Nat's Marks are way over 100m btw.

    Another gold post. Really.

So many don't remember how D2 went through a lot of the "This isn't Diablo (1), not even close!!" and things finally cooled down after patch 1.10 and LoD xpac and it became the jewel of the franchise, perhaps the company (yes, I've heard of WoW). Gold was a joke in D2.

Diablo 3 definately made gold worthwhile and it's got the hungry players and a solid foundation. Blizzard has shown that they listen to feedback re: D3 and take it seriously. I don't care who says what to who used to work where whenever (#twitterwars) if it gets me a better D3 product.

I also commend them on the RMAH (the third rail of gaming). I can't imagine how much the lawyers made dealing with the implications, legal and financially, but I'd think it would support a small country. Buying/selling gold and items has been around for almost 20 years in gaming and it's time someone took it out of the shadows.

I look forward to 1.04 and bigger and better things to come!

Weapon should be upgraded as well--avoid IAS on 2hnder, aim for 1.2k DPS + socket.

    Avoid IAS? Explain.

Best advice right now is save your gold and wait until after Patch 1.0.4 for a clearer answer.

It does take a considerable investment in time and gear to farm Act 3, 4, and Whimsey.

It does pay off in the end, though.

Guess my two Dead man's quivers will be sought after with 20% ias.
Nice... I sold my deadman with 20% ias because it was lacking disc+crit chance. It did have hungering dmg tho. Oh well! :( It was actually a dps lost compare to my rare quiver at the time even with the 5% additional ias.

One of mine (the one I use) has 11% to Elem Arrow too. Guess it'll be frosty now. Too bad I paid a lot to step up to 17% ias gloves over 15% ias. Eh, they'll enjoy the gold.

Not entirely unexpected. Frozen arrow is really good and does more damage/more useful. Devouring Arrow rune does tons of damage and costs no Hate. Last rune on Spike Traps does unbelieveable damage if you need to waste Hate somewhere.

    Quote from Frozenkex

I dont think its DH's intended way though, smoke screen shouldn't be end all be all, take it out of equation and suddenly you can't do jack without resistances :). And honestly, screw the mainstream I dont wana smoke screen! Some programmer probably mistook invisibility with invincibility when coding smoke screen.

In WoW I played a rogue (same character name) in a hardcore progression guild (mostly Vicarious). There is a lot of dodging fire, incoming magic, mobs that flay (old school cleave anyone?). You don't have a lot of health and you have Cloak of Shadows. You learn to dodge and move (and live) or you get replaced. Rogues sometimes kite mobs back to the tanks (before Tricks of the Trade) from the healers/casters and stay focused on what is going on around them.

In D3 I play a Demon Hunter. The similarities of playstyle are there. Yes, aside from the melee vs. ranged, but that's not as different as you'd think. I feel that it's more about playstyle than anything else, gear being a distant second.

When a fireball comes at you, move. When poison is pooling under you, move away (and not to a corner!). When a mob is coming at you, get out of it's path. It's pretty simple stuff. When Diablo is sending you to the shadow world, have your finger on the smoke screen button so as soon as your shade appears you have 1 second to get the drop on them (figure that the other 0.5 is reaction time). Don't waste Discipline; treat it as Energy as a Rogue- pool it so it's there when you need it. Caltrops and other Disc hungry skills are nice but I avoid all of them. Smoke Screen is our best defensive tool; we aren't a high-health, high-defense type class.

I have pretty good gear and I tried to strike a balance. 51k health, 450-500 all resists, 3100ish armor (around 50% reduction), 72k DPS (not including Sharpshooter, which is 152k), and 235% magic find (with 5 stack NV). I only had trouble (took an hour or so) with Infernal Ragnaroth and his teleport instagib mechanic. Inferno mode was very challenging and some pack combos have a special place in my, well, yeah. Infernal Belial is an easy fight for DH so it balances out.

I would say all the time spent raiding in WoW set me and others up mentally for the challenge. Of course there is some balancing necessary as there is in any game of this magnitude.

I really like Diablo 3. And there are no mailboxes to clog up with hate mail!

Wow, some people have never kited mobs around.

"Kiting", referring to how you run and pull a kite behind you in the air. You run, they follow and you set traps, use area effect spells, slows, etc.

Seriously, if you don't know what kiting is I don't know how you play Diablo 3. Or most any other game.

Or comment on the commenters of the people commenting.
