Well, my friends have been playing seasonal characters and convinced me to play there so that my characters wouldn't be absurdly powerful compared to theirs. Then this Furnace dropped while running rifts on Master on my Crusader and they all facepalmed: http://imgur.com/DVw1rzr
...must find a gift to give it a socket!
Fear on hit... for a melee class... how annoying. Salvage. ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)
J/K, it's awesome. Congratz!!
Hahaha yeah, that's actually what I saw first when I ID'ed it as I wanted to start at the bottom and work my way up to avoid getting too excited about a Furnace finally dropping. My only problem now is that I've got no clue how to play a non-shotgun Crusader, but I guess that will be remedied quickly

I only started a seasonal Crusader to get the new shield for a faster transfer to my main when the season ends. Well, the shield dropped from Malth when I killed him at 70. Not the greatest rolls, so I might do some rifts and let Kadala help me find a better one. For now, however, I'm back to my main.
My third Mirrorball dropped, and finally I got two extra missiles! The funny part was that I wasn't excited when it dropped due to already finding two with only one extra missile. I started reading from the bottom up to know whether or not it was a piece of garbage--and my excitement grew the whole time. I believe the in-game damage tops out at 415.
Anyways, I'm assuming that the optimal thing to enchant is 724 Vitality => 15% Magic Missile Damage?
I've noticed similar results as well. Blizzard probably seeds the RNG based off of the current minute rather than the milli/micro second most of the time just to troll us.
You have to be careful though. If you made legendaries never smart-drop, you'd never get what you need, and people like myself who only ever play one class will feel punished for doing so.
Personally I'd rather have legendaries 100% smart-drop. I hate getting DH cloaks or Cru shields that I'll never use. Of course, you're on the opposite side of that.
They'll never be able to make it perfect, so it's a bit of a compromise at the moment.
Couldn't they fix this by giving the player choice--say through a slider that applies smart loot to X% of items that drop? What if Joe is happy with his current main character and wants 0% smart drops so that he can gear up his other characters more quickly? That system would be as perfect for him as it is for you since you will also be able to set it to 100% smart loot and lock it in to your class all the time.
Not a huge fan of constant crashes in Mac land, so I'm installing it in boot camp now. How is it possible that instant crashes on clicking the AH button went un-noticed?! I just want to get my gear out of there and be done with it, but that's not possible until I finish installing in windows world. Nice one.
These are problems that always occur in level-capped games since EQ and earlier. You never saw it in D2 because getting to max-level wasn't really a thing for the average player.
And we finally get to the root of the problem.
So why not allow gear requirements be tied to Paragon Level?
I think that the lack of DPS meters will be due to a limitation caused by damage not being reported in chat. It's much easier to parse text than do image processing for data collection.
