Well you can expect the forum activity to be quite low during the first week or as long as a player hasn't cleared normal. But after that we'll all be back here on a daily basis I guess.
At least this will be my case. I'll be happy to come back here to find virtual friends to slay hell's minions with and share my opinion on the game and such.

Jay Wilson mentioned that at first they did have character customization, but took it out because:
#1. The customization wasn't very visible when wearing armor, so it was a waste of time.
#2. It became a time barrier to hitting "Start" and start playing.
I believe both of those explanations, and they seem quite reasonable. I have a friend who is a game designer at a different company, and I can imagine that #2 is, in fact, actually a huge deal to them.

I get the whole "I need to change how I look" but how often are you going to stare all teenage girl like at your character in the face?
Well, we will be playing with these characters for ungodly numbers of hours, so, on average... a lot...?

I don't know much about the "witch doctor culture" but I've never heard of a white one.
You've also never heard of someone summoning Meteors or firing beams of energy from their hands, launching anything that can be called a "rain of arrows" (or of vengeance) with a single bow twang, or escaping their enemies by summoning a wall of zombies or swarm of locusts. As I said before, this is about appealing to deeply-ingrained cultural stereotypes, a common practice among movie directors and every other branch of the entertainment industry.

Playing D&D years ago we got to pick our race/class/gender/ etc. Is that not the norm? When a player starts D&D are they told they will play a 57 year-old middle eastern female cleric named "Verellia"?
Say you wanted to be an bard and you pick an Orc... well you get the picture it just doesn't quite work.
I've never played D&D being given a pre-constructed character, but, esp with a limited degree of background, that might be a fun way to play. Nor have a made an orcish bard, but I tend to be a min/maxer. Some of my friends would definitely appreciate playing in this way. -

I hope you find one, sounds like you deserve it.
At first, I tried to get CE and it was nearly impossible. I had a friend who actually made a group sale and got about 25$ off for each copy, and I was too hesitant about spending 120$ on CE here in israel, and I missed it, and there was about 100 people who ordered it. I was really bummed out at first so after deciding I want CE, i checked around and finally pre-oredered mine about.. 2 months ago, since in Israel we weren't able to pre-order before, I even got myself an official pre-order T-Shirt!!! which is also rare!
So bottom line don't give up, maybe this happened for a reason! -

Swart posted a message on I believe the key to Monk dominance will be combination attacks...because of the Monk's crazy attack speed, and for other reasons I'll get into.Posted in: Monk: The Inner Sanctuary
Here is one example of a build based on using three spirit generators as the main attacking ability, rather than a spirit spender like Wave of Light, Tail Kick or Exploding Palm.
http://us.battle.net...afQk!bYg!ccabba
The generators are used in this order: Thunderclap -> 100 Fists -> Foresight [for the buff], then reverse the 2nd and 3rd so that Windforce Flurry is the final hit.
This gives an extremely fast attack (most of you will have seen the video of that one guy who has over 2.5 attacks/second) that does 110 + 110 + 250 damage per combo. It requires you to use a weaker combination in order to get the Foresight buff, but once you do you have now buffed your damage by over 40% (18 from Foresight, 24 from Combination Strike passive). Now add Overawe to that equation.
The beauty of this particular combo is that it gives you movement, damage, CC, and will generate spirit very fast because of the Monk's attack speed. That is where the other two passives come in.
Since the main attack will be generating spirit, using Exalted Soul this Monk should easily be sitting at full spirit most of the time. Hence I've included two mantras in this build rather than a second spirit spender, because I believe mantras are some of the best abilities in the game. You can pop Overawe for a damage burst and then switch back to Healing if you're in danger.
MoH plus the Transcendence passive gives this Monk huge healing potential. Simply by switching between mantras you will heal yourself for 62x50 = 3000 + health before taking into account the actual healing from the mantra.
The spirit spender I've picked is Cyclone Strike for a couple of reasons. It has a high spirit cost that will also serve as a heal because of Transcendence. With Sunburst, it is a perfect panic button skill if you're being mobbed. It essentially allows you to spam 4-5 in a row at full spirit while surrounded by a mob, while healing yourself, and forcing the survivors to flee -- all at the same time.
Of course this build has weaknesses as well, but it's obviously flexible. And keep in mind a lot of the integral skills, like Combination Strike, are too high-levelled to be available before Hell difficulty. -

Ruppgu posted a message on Hungry Bats!So in the past, I've said that Hungry Bats sounds like it is single target damage and most people seemed to agree. However, after watching the Witch Doctor video on the Blizzard site, it looks like they show Hungry Bats and it does do an area effect explosion.Posted in: Witch Doctor: The Mbwiru Eikura
If you look at about 2:25 he casts a firebat that explodes on contact (a fairly big range even... 10 yard radius?)
This would make it very competitive with Dire Bats. I think I would prefer a straight line AoE (and control over the ability) but Hungry Bats does so much more damage! It's a tough call. -

Adon posted a message on Inferno will be watered down(dont worry)Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
I don't wanna pick on him, but it really saddens me that apparently a lot of the community is like this. They are so misinformed about the game that it makes me scared that the game will be created by either 1 of them, or for them and then anyone who actually knew what was going on, gets to play in the shallow end.Quote from jaclashflash

Even in LoD, D2 was not able to be completed without extremely rare gear. Enigma was not something you could realistically find all by yourself, you had to trade for it. Usually, the items were traded on jsp for fg and that's how 90% of the people were able to do hell baals.
ROFL!!!

Ruppgu posted a message on endgame: why would anyone ever choose Dire Bats over Hungry BatsSingle target vs line AoE. Dire bats is one of (if not the) best skills the WD has.Posted in: Witch Doctor: The Mbwiru Eikura
Hungry Bats is a good single target nuke... but I'd MUCH rather have line AoE -

With some information out may or maynot be correct about how hard monsters hit in Inferno will WD pets still be viable?
JayWilson:Yes, pets scale pretty well in inferno. You do have to refresh them, but they are useful for tanking mobs
So, all we have to be concerned about is pets accidentally pulling in mobs. I'm sure Blizzard has this one figured out, be pretty glaring omission otherwise.

Are there any ridiculous posts that the Blue responded to that made you think, these Blizzard guys have a lot more patience than I do?

You're right and you're wrong. A lot of people will go right towards the center and there will be a major blood bath. I'm going to avoid the AOE bloodbath by running to the border of the map and blending in with the trees. After the blood bath, then I will pick off one person at a time. Most people look at PvP as a contest to kill as many other players as possible. I look at the game as survival and that will afford me the most victories.
When you're hardcore, you don't live long by killing off three people at once and dying in the process. You win by hit and running.

I am sending in my hardcore PvP suggestion to Blizzard, along with a $10 Paypal donation so they include this feature. Keep a lookout for my Demon Hunter Katniss on Battle.net.
