posted a message on Tri-fecta is limiting for gear choices and variations of builds. I have a solution.
Tri-fecta is limiting. When you pick up a ring, amulet, or glove, if it doesn't have some of the following properties: crit hit chance, crit damage, attack speed, it's garbage. You get all 3, you hit the jackpot.
Also, tri-fecta is not build-orientated, it's just THE STATS to have, regardless of your build or class.
My solution for making the system to be much more interesting is the following:

Warning: the following numbers are just examples and need to be balanced, but you should be able to understand the point.

When you roll these three properties, the highest value possible for all three should be lower than if only two or one stats rolls.
For example, if the best tri-fecta ring you can get is crit hit 6% + crit damage 50% + attackspeed 9%, then when you only roll crit hit and attack speed, it should be able to achieve crit hit 9% + attack speed 13%.
If only crit hit rolls, it should be able to reach 12%.

Another example, on amulet, the maximum is the following:
    all three: crit hit 10% + crit damage 50% + attackspeed 9%
    Just 2: crit damage 75% + attackspeed 13%
single propeprty: attackspeed 17%. You get the idea.

Why do this? It adds variation to the definition of BEST ITEMS. You can have a set of items that focus on trifecta, you can also have a set that focus on 100% crit rate, or a set that focus on really big crit number.

When you have these stats variations, you can start balancing skills.
You can have skills that benefits tremendously from attack speed (Monks spirit generations, barb run like the wind, wizard ww come to mind).
You can design skills that benefit from high crit hit chance which activates something, For example, a skill that sends a thunderstrike or a meteor when you crit.
For crit damage, you can have a skill that charges on the first two hit (does normal damage and not critical hit), but does huge base damage and crit at the third hit. Or you can make one of the wizard archon skills to have really high default crit hit chance.

I think this can be a big step toward item and build variation. It just opens doors to a lot of cool ideas.

posted a message on 100% CRIT Hammer barb build!!!
    Quote from MadViking

    Quote from totolipton

For DW setup, assume you can get +400 crit dmg, then when you crit, the above equation become:
    270%(smash) x 500%(crit) x 200%(insanity) x 115%(Battle rage) = 31.05
so if you have 50k normal damage, you will crit for 1.5 mil! To reach 2 mil crit, you just need 65k damage.

You seem to have missed one important detail: the DPS displayed in the game already includes your crit chance and crit damage. So for the above massive crit to be a reality, you will need to have 50k dps with 0% crit chance and 0% crit dmg. This might still be possible by stacking insane amounts of strength and attack speed, though I seriously doubt it.
You are right, i probably have to rethink that. But I believe it is still quite possible to deal 1mil+ crit with this build.

    Quote from Baracuda

War cry = 30 fury, Battle rage = -20 fury, 10 fury left and hammer costs 20 fury, problem? Or am I missing something?

Edit: Maybe if you had the unforgiving passive but if you're gonna go with WotB + Chaos you will want boon of bul'kathos...
The thing is, if you put hammer on left click, when you run out of fury you will just do normal attack, which would hopefully generate fury due to high crit. It's different from ww, where if you are out of fury you just stand there.

    Quote from jackel668

Max crit chance for a barb is 83% without WotB and 93% with it. Its either intentional or a bug no-one seems to be sure at this point in time.

Edit: Discussion on it from just over a week ago http://www.reddit.co...00_crit_chance/
Interesting. However I don't think the 5% crit from hammer of the ancient shows up in character stats. So max would still be 98%?

posted a message on 100% CRIT Hammer barb build!!!
Disclaimer: I haven't tried this build yet since I don't have a lot of time to play recently. This is just pure theory crafting.

    Build:
    1. Hammer of the ancient (any rune)
    2. Revenge (crit rune)
    3. Overpower (crit rune)
    4. WOTB (insanity or slaughter or chaos)
    5. Battle rage (fury rune)
    6. war cry (impunity)
Passive: Weapon master(axe) + ruthless + your choice

    Explanation:
Fury should not be a problem as long as you have Battle rage up, you can also get hammer of ancient cost-5 affix on shield if you have fury problem. We know max crit chance from S+B equipment is 53.5% (with legendary equipments and shield) or 49.5% (without).
Duelwielding can have up to 43.5%(with legendary) or 39.5% crit chance.

So from skills, we have the following crit amount:
    hammer of the ancient: 5%
    revenge: 10%
    overpower: 10%
    battle rage: 3%
    weapon master:10%
    ruthless: 5%
    WOTB: 10%
So in total, you have 53% crit from skills when all the skills are activated. So in theory, you can acheieve 53 + 53.5+ 3(scoundrel) = 109.5 crit rate! That means you crit 1.095 times every time you hit!
It's probably not that realistic, but the point is the you have really high crit rate.
For highest dps, it is proably better to use DW setup, sinice + crit% damage on both weapon outweights the 10% crit on shield dps wise.

Now just a little simple math. Assume while you have insanity wotb up, revenge and overpower proced and you have 100% crit, 200% crit dmg+, and you use smash rune for hammer.
    Your damge multiplier would be:
    270%(smash) x 300%(crit) x 200%(insanity) x 115%(Battle rage) = 18.63
That means if you are doing 50k per hit normally, you now would be doing 930k, close to a million per hit!

You can also try using birthright rune for magic find purposes.

Edit: There seem to be crit cap for barb at 83% without wotb, and with wotb 93%. With hammer of the ancient you will get max 98% crit rate, not 100%. Thanks jackel668 for pointing it out.

This is just theory crafting though. Please try it out and let me know. If you found any mistakes I would be happy to fix it.

posted a message on Legendary Drop rate increase?
All the legendaries I got, except a bul-kathos wedding band, were useless. However, I gotta say the feeling of getting a legendary color drop is really exciting! They really need to get the buffing legendary patch 1.1 out as soon as possible! would really improve the game a lot!

For the past three days I have been getting about 1 legendary per day, and I only do 1~2 inferno act 1 run through everyday. Today I actually got 2 legendary in the same run. Granted that all legendaries i got are pretty much crap, but still, do you guys also feel that lengendary drop rates has increases? (running with 200+ magic find)

posted a message on Diablo 3 possible fixes! items & bosses.
In diablo 3 there are many problems that are currently being discussed on the forum, mainly sucky legendary items, easy bosses, and messed up AH system. I think if we fix the first two problems, the AH will sort itself out since items will fall to their right price over time.

To fix sucky legendary items, Blizzard should certainly introduce more awesome legendary items that are way better than current item in the future. However, for now, a quick fix would be just multiply all current legendary item stats by a multiplier. If a legendary currently has 800 dps, multiply it by, let's say, 1.5 and make it 1200 dps. Do this for all legendaries.

To fix problem of easy bosses, do these:
    1. Limit rez!! One think they can do is to extend the time needed to rez channeling for each subsequent death (1st death rez takes 5 sec, 2nd death rez take 10 sec, 3rd 15sec etc).
    2. For higher stack of Nephalem Valor, make boss stats higher as well. Higher reward should come with higher difficult. This way, to actually beat the hardest boss (highest Nephalem stack), you need to stick with one set of skill, instead of dodging mobs and then switch to another set for fighting boss.

Once the items are fixed and most difficult bosses runs are more challenging, the game will be a much better one.

Now I've just gotta fine a 5 sided coin... maybe the auction house?
You know, you don't need a 5 sided coin. You just need a regular coin with Heads and Tails. Let's call the 5 classes A,B,C,D,E. Do the following:
    1. Throw the coin twice,
If you get HH, play A! - > Otherwise go to step 2.

    2. Throw the coin twice again,
if you get HH -> Play B!
if you get HT -> Play C!
if you get TH -> Play D!
if you get TT -> Play E!

The above algorithm is actually wrong. I guess do this instead:
    1. Throw the coin three times in a row:
if you get HHH, play A!
if you get HHT, play B!
if you get HTH, play C!
if you get THH, play D!
if you get THT, play E!
if you get anything else, like TTT, TTH, HTT, start all over!

Done! Don't spend money on 5-sided coin, they are overrated!
