posted a message on Loggin in/out what am I doing wrong?
    Hi,

I'm playing hardcore for the first time, and sometimes when I log in to the game I log into the middle of a battle in a huge pack of monsters amid a bunch of lag.

I have nearly lost my character to this 3 times, now, as I have to potion immediately and spam defensive skills in order to narrowly avoid death while waiting for the game to catch up. After the initial load up I"m pretty lag free, but obviously this is eventually going to get me killed.

I always make sure to log off in the middle of town when I exit the game. but this doesn't seem to help as sometimes, seemingly at random, the game loads me into the middle of a zone full of monsters.

So what am I doing wrong? Do I have to completely finish a quest chain before logging out? Is this a bug?

    Thank you for your time.

I don't know, frankly. On paper, 3% lifesteal seems quite little, but maybe it's just better than it seems at first glance.

For instance, i don't really like Brawler, because it's quite situational. But it's undoubtely strong.

The idea with Brawler, though, is to make the situational the norm with my "gathering" abilities like Leap Attack, Ground Stomp, and Threatening Shout.

3% is a small number, so I guess it relies on it being always compounded with all the aoe being dished out. Wish I could test these things already. March 15th can't come soon enough. The monk heal grants like 2k hp right? I wonder how close this barb could get to that number with a good Revenge that hits 4-5 targets.

It seems a viable build. I'd only change a couple of things:

    1) I don't think that Bloodthirst stands out as passive skill. I'd go for Inspiring Presence or, since you basically don't have fury spenders, Berserker Rage
    2) I don't like earthquake, at all. 120 seconds CD is huge in a game like Diablo. I'd go for a movement skill, like Furious Charge, Leap or Sprint. If you take Sprint, don't go for Berserker Rage (obiouvsly)

I think you're right about Earthquake. I think I'll replace that with Leap Attack to gain more mobility, and use the Call of Arreat rune to act as another "gatherer."

Still not sure about the passives. That life steal is so precious considering all the damage I'll be pumping out. 3% life steal for each cleave hitting at 156% is nice... not to mention it stacking with Revenge hits.

Think I could get away with replacing Tough as Nails instead? Less armor, but the added lifesteal working with Beserker Rage as a passive instead might make up for it. Each Cleave hit would be doing 3% lifesteal at +211% weapon damage at that point... with a twohander weapon that should be very nice. And it's 3% of all damage, so it would proc per monster hit with cleave, not just per use of cleave.

And Revenge is stealing 8% life from 275% weapon damage with everything working together right... again per enemy hit in the radius, which there should always be a lot of with all the "gathering."

That is a lot of damage and life steal.

    Even better:

Explain your reasoning behind the build in full detail and not expect us to do more than you have in a reply post.

    This.

Simply picking out skills does not constitute a build that's "yours." Anyone out there can read a few threads and realize which skills to pick. Some rationalization would have made the post worth my time.

Lack of explanation gives you a D in my book. This does not constitute an engaging discussion. I opened this thread because I was interested in what you had to say about the build you chose, which would affect how I choose to respond.

Dunno why you have to attack me personally when all I asked was for you to rate the build. I RATE YOU A D FOR ATTACKING ME! TAKE THAT!

As for your comment about this not being "my" build... seriously? Ok: rate the Diablo 3 Barbarian build I pieced together on the Diablo 3 Skill Calculator... that better?

I guess I thought I would "engage" people in a discussion after they responded with their thoughts, as I did with the less... angry posters. Here's my idea, tell me what you think. It's called feedback.

But, if you must, here is my rationalization.

I tried to build a low Fury-cost efficient Barbarian that had plenty of toughness and damage output, which also added to group-play where possible.

I chose cleave as a main generator because of how it works together with the "get things around me" use of Groundstomp and Threatening Shout taunt. It also multiplies the effects of my life steal, especially when coupled with my Brawler passive. More damage = more Life Steal = more survivability, which is also why I chose the increase in damage rune on Cleave.

I chose Ground Stomp because of the reasons described above, and for the stun to help my group. It also generates Fury, which is nice.

I chose War Cry because it is a very nice defensive Fury generator that will help the party a lot. I havn't seen too many abilities that add + resistance, so unless Items have plenty of it this will be a nice skill-rune combo for Inferno. I chose Threatening Shout with Demoralize to "gather" mobs as described to hit them with Cleave, stomp, Earthquake, etc., and to keep mobs off of other party members.

I Chose Revenge because it acts as a free aoe to enemies in my area, which there should always be plenty of with my "gathering" abilities. Again, all of this damage helps life steal.

I chose Earthquake because 1600% weapon damage is just too much to ignore, plus the chilling effect is nice to slow things down. I can also keep mobs in the area of effect for the full duration with my "gathering" abilities and stuns. Am not sold on this ability, though, and considering a mobility skill in its place.

I chose my passives for survivability, keeping in mind with Brawler that more damage = more life steal = more surviability. I figure I will be getting hit a lot with so many enemies around me, so the thorns effect from Tough as Nails is a nice bonus.

I think you could have asked me to explain myself without coming off as such a... meanie, to use a nice word. See? Less negative!

    I rate it an A.

All the skills synergise very well in my opinion in terms of cooldowns and function and the purpose and playstyle required is very obvious. I am only slightly concerned about the lack of mobility with the skills you have chosen. I understand that mobility is not an aspect this build needs but it's probably out of my need to be able to kite more effectively. Still, it does look good as far as I can tell. What do ya think of mine? :P

    http://us.battle.net...jdRQ!cTe!bZbbbZ

I wondered about the mobility issue too. Think I should replace Earthquake with something like Leap Attack?

But that damage is a lot to lose, even if it's only every 2 minutes or so...

And I haven't studied the DH class much, so don't think I could give that build a grade. But it looks like a nice balance of group-slow and damage, which would be nice in Inferno group play. I'm guessing the DH role in Inferno will be to stay back and pump out damage and slows, and you built in a nice escape with Smoke Screen.

Heh. I already know my reasoning - I'm interested in YOURS. I don't expect you to do more than I have in a reply. A letter grade with a brief explanation is surely far less than making a build. It takes me far less time to grade a paper and provide a bit of feedback than it does for my student to write it, ya know?

Here is an example of what I was looking for
    Quote from badgermilk69

    -B'ish

I'd personally rather have some better fury generators and some more frequent dmg output. Maybe replacing "Broad Sweep" for "Reaping Swing" on Cleave and "Earthquake" for one of the four 'Secondary Skills'. I'd probably use HOTA with Thunderstrike rune.

    Thanks, badgermilk.

I'm not sold on my Cleave rune, but I figure I don't need much in the way of Fury generators due to the low Fury cost of my build. Except for Earthquake, the only skill that costs anything is Threatening Shout at 20.

I figure Earthquake would be a rare use, but that huge damage output is hard to ignore... is 1600 over 8 seconds a typo? Is that the most powerful DoT in the game?

    Hi,

    Looking for more build ratings/discussion.

Please rate this build for Inferno viability (in a party):

    A, B, C, D, F?

    Explanation of rating?

    Suggestions for improvement?

I realize it's all speculation, as we know little about Inferno.

    Thanks!

They took out Vermin, eh? Oh well... back to the drawing board.

Care to rate my alternate build the same way? I wanted to experiment with a "In the thick of things" style WD. Perhaps the only thing I can compare it to is the Hurricane build druids from D2 running around in the middle of packs.

    http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/witch-doctor#cVQUWg!USa!ccYbYc

I don't understand how some of the skills work, though. Would I be able to have Toads and Bats out at the same time, or do I have to channel Cloud of Bats? How about the Manitou ruin on the Spirit Barrage? Am I correct to assume that it replaces the single target blast with the spirit hurling bolts?

    Thanks for your helpful comments.

posted a message on Walking Dead Season 2
Loved the comics and I am mostly enjoying the show. One of my favorite things about the comics was how the writer handled the female characters. I was pleasantly surprised to find well-written "heroines" in a work of fiction in this day and age. It seems like every movie, comic, video game, etc. requires that strong female character that beats up the bad guys as easily or more easily than the male character can despite being a mere 100 lbs and having zero combat training (SEE! GIRLS CAN DO ANYTHING GUYS CAN DO! YAAAAA!.)

Michonne, for example, was an athletic, powerfully-built female athlete (Serena Williams?) that also happened to spend years practicing her fencing... and thus made a believable and interesting "strong female" character. Compare her to a character like... the girl from Pirates of the Carribean... or the "shield maiden" in Lord of the Rings that takes down the mammoth... I know these movies aren't exactly trying for realism, but it's the arch-type (100lb female warrior with no strength, training, or experience, yet somehow powerful just because girls can do whatever boys can do) that bothers me, not the lack of realism.

Andrea's character in the Walking Dead comic was another good one. She didn't need to be battle-savy with "girl power," she just had very deadly aim and practiced daily with a rifle.

I like the direction D3 is taking, at least with the female barbarian model. I was honestly expecting another lithe, scantily clad warmaiden. That being said, I predict she will be the least played class-gender combo in the game, possibly surpassed only by the female Witch Doctor. Most of the WoW crowd will wanna play the cute female Monk, Wizard, or Demon Hunter, and a few people will play the "ugly" female Barbarian or Witch Doctor mostly for lulz (and they will give them ridiculous sexual names, as per every single D2 Amazon having a reference to boobs in their name.)
