Hammer of the Ancients Cost: 20 Fury / Call forth a massive hammer to smash enemies directly in front of you for 535% weapon damage. Hammer of the Ancients has a 1% increased Critical Hit Chance for every 5 Fury that you have. (Damage up from 325%)
Because if ANYTHING needed a buff, it was Hammer of the Ancients!
QFT, but still.. Most of the Barb changes read like they were afraid some people still might want to play one even without double-tornado or life leech. -

The stack size for gold sales on the auction house has been increased from 1 million to 10 million.
I'm guessing this is to curb third-party gold sales (which is 100m per $3)
Blizzards new stack size = 120m per $3 ( that is when it drops to 25 cents per stack)
I think it's probably so people don't have to buy gems and then sell them for gold in order to get a reasonable value. Still, I think they should have changed it to 100 million per stack since their track record on responding to drops in the market price of gold is so terrible.
EDIT: I forgot to say this, but I don't think it has much to do with 3rd parties because they'll always be cheaper than the market in game since Blizzard adds value for security, plus much of the 3rd party gold is stolen. -
May 7, 2013tanis0 posted a message on 1.0.8 Official Patch NotesI wonder why they didn't mention that NV now stack multiplicatively with other non-multiplayer XP bonuses. Or did they take that out?Posted in: News

Mar 5, 2013tanis0 posted a message on Developer Journal: Itemization UpdateMy favorite part is by far the idea that fewer, but more consistently "good", rares will drop. I'd be happy to only get 1/10th the normal amount of rare drops as long as like 1/10 of them was worth the time to pick it up and id it.Posted in: News
I love the idea of the ethereal boots though. Then I could drop whirlwind from my build and run something like: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/barbarian#ZQUkRP!ZYg!ZZZZYc - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

Now, if you choose not to trade, that's your deal and it bothers me not at all. I feel like you're looking for an opportunity to take offense here where none exists. I also don't really care if Blizzard likes tomes since they're freely available anyway. It's just an oddity to me is all.

I'm not entirely sure I understand you. What I'm saying is that gems + gold + tomes = gems + gold + slightly more gold. The tomes themselves add nothing of value to the equation beyond some arbitrary factor for limiting crafting, which only limits crafting if you artificially cripple yourself by not using the AH. You could say the same for the gems themselves I guess, but you're actually crafting the gems here -- the tomes are just superfluous, especially since they're required to craft so many different things. It doesn't really bother me -- it just feels like a strange game design decision.

It should be testable. If you kill 10 skeletons on MP5+ and note the XP change and then go get 5 NV stacks and repeat, it should be pretty obvious if it's multiplicative or not. If it is, you should see 45% more XP for those 10 mobs, and significantly less otherwise. I'd try, but I don't have access to the game right now.

It definitely was stated NV would be multiplicative with gear / MP for XP.
As far as I'm aware, MF shrines were changed to be able to exceed the cap, but they are still additive rather than multiplicative. If this was changed, it was very recent and I somehow missed it.

I've never understood why they included tomes and pages in crafting beyond levelling the artisans. Because of the AH, gold = tomes anyway, so it's just superfluous. The limiting factor ought to be the actual components involved

I'm no longer as sold on avoiding Bloodthirst as I was since I found out about the Brawler delay. The delay is less significant in non-WW builds though so you could pick up a lifesteal EF if you want to use it, but you might be better off picking up a crit damage / higher damage range EF instead. I'm just not sure which is better to be honest.
I'm surprised you need Warcry with as much life as you have. If it were me, I'd be trying to drop Warcry for Sprint: Marathon in order to speed up my runs.
This is just a thought, but I wonder if you might be better off main-handing the sword. You'd have less crit chance obviously, but 15% more damage (before crits are considered) is pretty substantial so it might be worth swapping your weapons back and forth and seeing which way feels better.

The reason that they are so cheap on the RMAH is because so many people are using them as a way to turn gold into real money. The reason they are so cheap on the gold AH is because people buy them with real money and then turn around and sell them immediately for gold. How much they cost to make originally isn't relevant at a certain point because they are just being used as currency. Allowing gold to be sold for 100,000,000 for .25 would push them to more realistic prices, but Blizzard doesn't seem to care.

I take it you're getting close?
I'm somehow at 0 infractions. I think the most obvious theory is that the mods don't read my posts.

Running some numbers in a calculator using my gear with a few tweaks (like using a main-hand axe and an EF, both with IAS), I'd go from 2.3088 APS * .815 crit = 1.882 crits per second with a shield to (2.96275 + 2.7685) / 2 APS * .715 crit = 2.049 crits per second with hits from frenzy (not counting attack speed increase from frenzy but I think the effect is similar), or from 2.309 crits per second to 2.579 crits per second with birthright. That's ~11% more crits with birthright and ~9% more crits with frenzy over a given timeframe. It'd be even worse for the shield if I had more crit chance from gear since I'd be capping out Birthright's crit chance more often (I did not penalize it in this case -- I assumed I wouldn't always be at max fury).
It also seems like Frenzy: Sidearm would be better than Maniac as it would produce more hits (and presumably more procs) in the same timeframe.

I spent like 30 minutes typing a reply to a post the other day that got me really hot. In the end, I just deleted it and reported the post -- not that it was edited or deleted...
