posted a message on I choose you, Barbarian.
I am nothing short of impressed with how the barbarian plays. Destruction and sheer domination have never felt so satisfying before. At first I was sure that I would choose a 1h+Shield type of gameplay, but I've since switched over to the 2h style, which is just insanely fun and rewarding. Got high hopes for the weapon throw barb as well, sure as hell gonna try that one out too.
The diversity of builds in this game is awesome. Practically everything is viable, and that is really exciting. Fun times ahead!

My daily blood intake has tripled since I first logged on beta. I'm beginning to fear I might be addicted.

Much better than the DH video, I must say. The worm near the end is a really nice touch. Reminds you that you only saw a tiny percentage of the whole game and that there is a lot more of it waiting to surprise and amaze you. D3 can't come soon enough!

    Under 2 weeks.

    And that's playing HC :ninja:

    Teach me, master :D

I myself am hoping end game will be as hard as they are advertising it, and that it will take me at least a month or two to beat Inferno for the first time.

posted a message on Is Beta too hard for grandma?
I must say, the beta is almost perfectly tuned. Personally, I would have it be a tiny bit harder, but it is still really solid at its current state. This is an introduction to the game and its core mechanics. It is not meant to be challenging or stressful on the new players. It certainly is not meant to be a place for you to die at over and over again.
But still, it requires a certain amount of skill on your first playthrough, when your level matches that of the monsters and you're not decked in overpowered crafted gear. There are a few interesting elites with tricky affixes that can make for a fun time, and you will sometimes find yourself running away, waiting for a cooldown on your potion, or mana to regenerate.
And then, when you're facing Skeleton King on level 8-9, it most certainly provides you with some sort of a challenge. The guy has a couple of basic combat mechanics, a lot of hit points and can hit pretty hard on a low armored character. A pretty solid way to end the starting part of the game.
All these things may seem a bit too easy for many of us here who have spent countless hours slashing and clicking away in Diablo/Diablo II/other rip-offs and can't possibly die in the beta, but there are a lot more people who will be trying this kind of game for the first time, and introducing them to the style and the way the game is played is of great importance to Blizzard.
If this difficulty continues to increase exponentially as the acts unfold, and the main bosses are done right, I cannot guarantee a death-free pass on the first playthrough through the normal mode for myself. Which I find really exciting.

I was at work, came to the office and went to check my facebook. Out of the blue, I saw the news, and triumphantly raised my hands in the air. If there weren't othere people around me, I would have probably danced around the room like a little girl.

It is important to roar at your computer when something climactic happens in game. Say, for example, you finish clearing fifty plus demons and your life and resources are low, but you have succeeded; at this point a loud battle cry is necessary to demonstrate that through the difficult trial you prevailed and are prepared to combat whatever comes your way. Promptly use this explanation to the people near you who ask about your roar.

This. By Odin's beard, this! :D

posted a message on Launch day - Ammunition and Preparations!
    - Gonna get a load of Red Bull's/snacks, and a few packs of beer, and that's just for the first day.
    - At least two ounces of weed will lay next to me at all times, some Numenorian shrooms as well. Fun times.
    - Already planned out a ten day vacation, going to another city, turning off my phones, leaning back, and enjoying the fuck out of the game I've been waiting for some good ten years.
    - I will be killing demons on release day, midnight, at my friend's apartment. He's gonna roll Witch Doctor and I'll be playing a tank Barbarian. We probably won't sleep for the first two days. :D

Edit: also gonna be wearing my Diablo III T-shirt, thanks Eldius for reminding me xD

posted a message on Anyone else getting a new PC for Diablo 3?
I am wondering how well my laptop will hold up against Diablo 3. I am planning to play on it on release day, taking a vacation, going to a friend's apartment and waiting for midnight. I will obviously be very much able to run the game, but I want to hear from someone who played the beta already how well will it actually run?

My Barbarian PvE tanking build, on which I'll probably work on more as I master the game. It provides a lot of defensive power, while keeping some of the raw barb awesomeness and sheer power. Paired with a great deal of stuns, it offers a fun way to dominate your enemies with the self confidence of a true son of Bul-Kathos. :)
