[quote name='duckwilliamson' timestamp='1336534038' post='857994' As for the developer chat, man that was garbage. First, it wouldn't let me in (due to caching that bit.ly?) until I found the direct link on diablofans. Then I just missed the chance to paste in a question so I only got to ask one about 45mins in! I had a series of questions I wanted answered (post http://us.battle.net...509006?page=1#0 if anyone wants to add or answer some). The majority of those questions had well-known answers or were just useless in the first place. I figured the core diablofans people would be there that had proper knowledge of the game and would actually ask better questions!
That is a great post bud. I have a few things to add, but don't have forum access. I want a scale-able UI. I want a smaller mini map and smaller action bar. That should be in game. Lots of people play on large screens! Statistics for trivial stuff would be great too. How man health potions used, health globes picked up, how many times rezed. [/quote]
Thanks cyan, I added your questions (rephrased a little) http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/4888509006?page=1#17

I love the battletag idea and system for the fact he mentioned about street cred, and notorious assholes which will be around. This will make it much easier for those reason. When you actually think about it, its logical, cause I'll be switching between classes all the time, this will streamline identity's.

Streamlining identities is one thing, but completely negating the use/need of a character name is something else! I like seeing the battetag up on the face plate and character name plates, but can we not at least show them both so what I name my character is seen? Even just a "Character (BattleTag)" above the player's head would work for me. I'm saddened that they went back on the initial "we'd heard you!" speech.

So essentially enrage timers are just a way to hinder the slow and reward the fast. Makes sense I guess if they want to stop the whole lvl 1 WD killing of the SK situation.

Also, wtf is with the korean commercial? Is that how those people sell things?

We also have enraged timers, where if you don’t kill the monsters in a certain amount of time, they enrage and then they do massive damage

Holy crap, so not only are the monsters already super hard, but if you don't kill them within a time-frame of the demon's liking, they rage and get even harder. Also "Massive Damage?" how much more massive can it get than 170k in one hit?

actually if 170k is the top then maybe that's the damage they do enraged

It says "min" damage. So that would be the normal hitting you without any crazy effects at all described elsewhere.

He states that in Inferno if you find a really hard pack, you are not really able to skip them, while in nightmare and inferno you can kind of just move around them.

He states in inferno, you cant move around them like in inferno :-(

I don't understand his statement, what makes inferno so much different than hell in that you can't "avoid" a group? Do they aggro off your screen and follow until you die?

They already stated that some monster will be more speedy / agressive in inferno. If mob is so fast that you can't outrun him you will not be able to flee.

If that's true then that's broken because the "fast" affix would be retarded hard to click on, and it would severely gibble ranged characters' ability to outmaneuver enemies instead of taking hits.

so much for HC inferno players if you can't avoid that 170k hit minus armor and etc

not to mention assuming you can reach inferno mode without dying on the others

I am curious about this, as they did say "no spikey damage" from enemies.

The fun is in playing the game, not working out how to play it.

I agree with Jay but I think the skill-UI redesign made the game a lot harder to figure out how to play. I've played the Beta with both the old UI and new UI and found the old UI much much easier to use. The new UI makes me jump through hoops to get things done and I dread leveling just because it means I'll have to go fuck with the UI to access my new skills/runes (this is compounded by the fact that the skill/rune you just unlocked is not easy to discover).

I really hate the new skill UI and feel it did the exact opposite of what Jay wanted it to do: it made working out how to play the game difficult and irritating. It was honestly enough to make me want to stop playing.

Also, Jay's excuse about wanting to hide the "elective mode" skill option and keep it as "tribal knowledge" is complete BS. He's plainly admitting that they're actively designing a bad user experience by (1) making a setting that should be default not default, and (2) making the discovery of the setting difficult to find (this is a no-no for good UI). I really want to set up a google trend search to track just how many people need to hit the web to find out how to change the skill settings. If this number is high enough it will be a clear indication that blizz killed the user experience with this "improvement."

    My 2-cents.

I agree, and during the best buy live chat thing next week I fully intend to ask when they will bring in an easier to use skill UI because yes, this is painful.

If there is any anime in Diablo 3, I will not buy it.

How will you know without buying it and finding out? Are you going to wait until weeks after and look online or something? Or ask friends to verify?

Anyway, it's pretty silly to not buy a game because you don't like the animation style of its cinematics when they're around 0.1% of the duration of the game.

They have officially said that they're doing "storybook animation" which looks like anime to me, so see you at release? lol

Anyone remember what the 90% unlock is?

Inferno sounds like it'll turn out as intended. Now if I can just get to that difficulty level...

As for PvP, it doesn't really hold my interest at this point (notwithstanding not even having been implemented). If it turns out to have a gentler learning curve for inexperienced players such as myself, I might try it out.

It sounds like it'll be pretty gentle, worry not.

haha. he answered 3 questions and became overwhelmed.

    Haha yeah.

And SIIIGHHH at the canned response for UI options. If that's the issue, give us an ini file with a complete list of options to turn anything in the UI off and so many people will be happy to go edit that file and turn off stupid annoying things. The "friendly UI" can remain untouched because those people don't care about the more advanced options anyway.

I'm still deliberating between the WD and the Wiz.

My wife has officially chosen the monk... so i have to go a ranged char... and I hate the DH.

I do agree with everyone that this video makes the wizard look like a pussy... but playing the wiz in the beta makes me disagree with that sentiment.

You don't have to do anything, lol. And if you're going for synergy, then anything but the DH goes with the monk (they both use Dex) so better odds of gear.
