How do you know it was much better - you never played it then.

I don't mind the difficulty of Inferno at all, but the current model forces grinding of a specific act in order to gain reasonable gear to survive in the next.
Kind of makes sense don't you think? The further you go the more difficult it is. This is how most games work. Stops you from acquiring some gear and storming through the whole game and then complaining there's nothing to do cause you beat it all.

Sure, I understand what you're saying, but that was the point of the game the first 3 times you ran through it. The original idea for Inferno was to make long term end game viable in all acts of Inferno. As it stands now, when you can hunt act 4, which based on the reports is not much harder than act 3, there will never be any point going back to act 1 and 2. So you're boxed in the smallest act of the game.

posted a message on original FLAT INFERNO DIFFICULTY was much better
The original flat Inferno difficulty idea where all the monsters were the same level (revealed in 2011) was far better than we currently have in Diablo 3. It allowed ALL Inferno acts to be viable for hunting long term, no matter the gear.

I don't mind the difficulty of Inferno at all, but the current model forces grinding of a specific act in order to gain reasonable gear to survive in the next. This is a very frequent complaint on the forums that grinding act 1 is not fun because you already know act 2 gear outshines and can be bought with enough gold. So essentially it is more productive to just grind for gold instead.

As of now I make 4x as much gold running through act 3 of hell when factoring the time spent, but I'd gladly hunt in act 1 inferno if I knew I was not missing out on top end gear (seen in act 4). Why even go to Inferno act 1 after you have say act 3+ gear? This leads to less viable end game content.

posted a message on Question about joining a friend's game who is further in the story than you
If I join my friend's game who is say in Act 2, but my character is still in Act 1, can I still have him backtrack and help me complete my quests in Act 1 or are the quests he completed already unavailable to me (similar to D2)?

Just curious if I need to be in sync with my friends on the quests when playing together.

    TIA

Can hardcore characters play with non-hardcore characters, as in an HC character join his friend's game who is playing a normal character? Are there any visual indicators the person is playing HC?

This may have been asked before, but I couldn't find it... TIA

posted a message on Blizzard's response on weapon animations
I'm glad Blizzard finally decided to add the unfinished weapon animations, but the endless threads on the official forums were simply asking for a tiny toggle to keep the weapons sheathed as they do when the character stands idle. This would have been the easiest solution to implement by release (and most desired). I guess at least they are acknowledging the complaints.

posted a message on Armor Tiers for each class make the game look too generic.
I keep seeing these pictures on Armor Tiers for each class and while they look somewhat interesting, I think they dilute the uniqueness of individual gear. Personally, I don't really want the rare and epic items to fall into an Armor Tier category when I equip them. I want them to look exactly the same on each character so when I run into someone and they have a rare item on, I want to be able to spot it out.

Armor Tiers make the loot preset and generic. Boring.

The other thing is that no matter how hard you try, one method will always offer an advantage over the other, an example being look at WoW. The best players used hotkeys and clicked skills at the same time. Those that only did one or the other were generally a bit behind those that did both (be it a couple of 100 or a couple of 1000); so I think people wouldn't like to feel like they are worse off because they are stuck in a traditional control mindset.

Where as a newer player is able to utilize the new method and be more effective for it (such as aiming and moving as you stated). Again, I am not saying this is a good reason, but it is probably one of the main reasons why people react so badly toward the suggestion.

I agree with that, so I'm just going to hope it might be a feature they push out much later as an update or part of the next expansion. People who said it will never happen simply don't have any grounds to say so. Just look at how much the Beta has changed, absolutely massive changes that go against everything they said last year (rune system, inferno flat difficulty of every mob level 61, etc). Adding some movement hot keys, especially since they have to migrate towards this for the consoles anyway is not a huge change to the gameplay.

For people asking for controller support: I have serious doubts that you have ever played a Diablo game. A controller would work horribly, very bad to accurately aim (why do you think consoles use aim-assist in FPS's?).

I was just testing this some more on a caster (again in Mythos) and I found it REALLY nice to be able to move away from the mobs while keeping my focus on them and spamming fireballs. The character stops during the cast, but it's still nice not to have to move the mouse across the screen to click where I want the character to run then move back to target the mob. The mob is always targeted no matter the direction I move. It's really puzzling how anyone could argue with this system, especially if was added an an option to the controls.
This is exactly why this game can't go WASD. Choosing to either move or attack is a strategic choice the game forces you to make; if you can move AND attack, that's one less thing you have to think about. You might see that as a good thing, but I think it makes the game shallower.

You also failed to read the part where I mentioned my character stops every time he has to cast a spell. There was no movement during casting, the only difference between using WASD and using the mouse the entire time is I didn't have to move my mouse across the entire screen back and forth to do a simple move in the opposite direction from the mob. So what you're saying is completely obvious, allowing to move and cast at the same time would turn Diablo 3 into Smash TV, I fully realize that and this has already been though of by the ex-Diablo 2 developers who created Mythos.

Quick question, I don't have D3 Beta (never got lucky), but can you hold the mouse and keep moving in the direction of the pointer? As in chasing the pointer without having to click every time?

Wow is a lot less clicking than diablo....

It really depends on how you set up your bars. It's already been mentioned you can reassign keys. I tend to keep most of my well used abilities on LMB, RMB and button 1. If I get the chance, I do change things up to my mouse 4 and 5, but let's assume I don't have that option.

You would then save buttons 2-4 for abilities you won't use that often and only want for certain situations. Don't forget, even with a WSAD system, you could still have click to move, so there's really NO downside to this. It would let people use any system they wanted to.

In all truth, I'd only really see range/caster classes use it, but who knows, some melee might have fun with it.

I use it on my melee character mostly between battles. Usually while looking at the new drops in my inventory while moving to a new area. Works very well.
