That's actually not all that bad, it's over 8 seconds. So it'd be the equivalent of being hit by a handful of upfront damage abilities over those 8 seconds.

Plus it's a 2-minute cool down, and it costs half your rage.

Sooo, no, it looks fine to me lol

    Quote from Ashitaka

Anyone remember monk smite teams in Guild Wars arena. I think Blizzard will want to avoid that if at all possible. It makes pvp boring and unfun and doesn't fit with the e-sport kinda philosophy.

For those that didn't play GW, monks would sit in a corner spamming heals making them invincible until someone came close and then going 1,2,3, smite, annihilating the poor sod. Abusing game mechanics like that ruined what little endgame there was. I personally don't want that in D3. Not stacking Auras is a very good thing IMO.

The last thing they are doing with this game is balancing it for ESports, so anything is possible in regards of PvP.

While I'd love it if they would, they just aren't, fact. lol

I will say with confidence, at the very least for the first year of the game, PvP will be completely ignored. This entire game as it lies is ALL about its PvE, so don't hold your breath, but don't give up hope either.

posted a message on Diablo 3 an eSports?
In an interview with Jay Willson, he said over his dead body will this game become an ESport or in any way PvP dominated. He said Blizzard is happy with Starcraft being their ESport franchise, and Diablo is and always has been best in it's PvE element.

While my opinion does not support this statement, this is just a direct quote from the man in the big chair.

I am not even going to read the replies to this, nor will I read your entire post. All I'll say is, a game mode like this having played DoTA, and LoL, I think it could be EXTREMELY entertaining.

Obviously the mechanics would have to be different. But if the core still existed as in, 3 split lanes, killing both mobs and players to destroy the enemy base, then it'd be so beyond worth my time.

An excellent idea, I really like it

posted a message on Diablo 3 Boss Mechanics
So, I'm not sure if there were any blue posts discussing this yet (if there were, links please ♥) and I know with the Skeleton King there were some mechanics...

But I'd like to know just how crazy bosses are going to get mechanics wise. How much will one need to learn, will it be relatively similar to Diablo 2 where a boss is very simple to learn, and then farm?

I know the 'difficulty' will be set fairly high, but that doesn't say much in how it will be hard. In a recently released video "You will Die, We Promise" from Blizzard, it essentially seems like there will just be a ton of damage, where that comes from was unclear.

ANYWAY, if anyone has knowledge on this topic, please enlighten me...

Otherwise! Discuss what kind of mechanics you think bosses will have, theorycraft, guess, I don't care, I have just been very interested in this topic, since the PvE in Diablo 1 and 2 wasn't very engaging, I only played for the PvP for the most part.

It's been 10 years, Diablo 3 is a completely fresh game being created by a completely different team than the previous games. Embrace the in fact positive and refreshing changes being implemented. Stop nit picking over small things.

The game is getting closer to it's release, the beta has been going on for half a year, the classes are pretty solidified on where they are going to stand, that's just the way it is.

I played and loved the previous games for over 8 years, and I don't know about anyone else but I'm ready for a totally new experience in Diablo 3, I'm not someone clinging in the shadows of Diablo 1 and 2 demanding that hardly anything but content and graphics change.

It's Diablo '3', not an expansion, meaning new game, not same game with more content and graphics bump.

posted a message on Diablo 3 fans, DONT GIVE UP
I feel anyone that is a real fan is aware of this, the only people you see complaining about not getting in are the ones that don't want to do anything to get invited. If it's not handed to them then they can't be bothered and it's a bad game because of it.

Also those are the people that wouldn't actually test the game, they'd just play it.

I'd rather not encourage people like that, the less people like that involved in the community the better.

posted a message on Will a healer class dominate pvp?
I agree with much of what I see in the replies on this post. Just because you see a couple healing abilities on a class doesn't mean to any extent that there will be a healing dominant class. Each class is given some sort of sustainability, Wizard's have their control spells, Barbarian's have life steal, Demon Hunter's have traps and escapes, Witch Doctors have pets and fear, and Monk's have their heals.

Delving too far into one specific aspect of a character would only weigh your mates down in that what you offer becomes limited due to the type of game Diablo is. It is a kill kill kill game, you only have a few abilities, mostly with cool-downs, if you are a Monk doing nothing but throwing out the occasional heal, and aside from that doing poop for damage, you are better off just lowering the difficulty of the monsters by not being in the game to start with.

Or in a PvP sense just you'd be just a quick easy target to eliminate, also therefor a waste of space.

The way I see it currently, Diablo 3 is going to required a steady balance of damage, and sustainability. Each player is going to have to do their part in both, otherwise you aren't pulling your own weight, no matter what it is you are doing.

If you have too much sustainability you are not doing damage, if you have too much damage, you are too much of an easy target to eliminate. That goes for both PvE, and PvP

posted a message on Better looking game
Diablo 1 and 2 had a rougher look simply because of they were 2D, when you add 3D graphics to anything the visual element will substantially change obviously, that's why it looks so different to the original games. 3D also requires additional colors to make the figures and objects in the game look correct. In my opinion that mod looks no different than the original game, its colors are just darker.

Also, I am an old-school Diablo player, I've been playing the series since a year or so after the first games release and have consistently played from then til now. And have played through the beta a number of times, from my experience Diablo 3 retains much of the dark 'gloomy' look and feel from the past games. But when you add 3D it makes anything look more bubbly and playful, it's impossible to escape.

Having played WoW for 3 years, Diablo for close to 10, and playing the Beta, I feel the only quality they share is the 3D, aside from that they look absolutely nothing alike. Diablo 3 is just as dark as it can be in relation to the previous games considering it is bumped up to such superior graphics than before.
