On the bright side, at least you know that whoever your grouped with in HC has already beaten normal difficulty and has a rough idea of how to play the game at that point. :tyrael:

I've gone through all the games installed on my PC already, and I'm burnt out on all my ps3 games as well. Ive resolved to start programming small games in c++ to pass the time until release...I've even had wow craving lately but managed to resist....for now! :bleh:

I think not including hardcore from the start has a lot to do with RMAH actually. You see blizz knows that a lot of us want to play HC, but they also know that if they force us to play through on normal, by the time we finish A) we may have grown to really enjoy the character we're playing and the gear we've aquired, and B) we will be curious about nightmare difficulty and the potential gear upgrades there. This being said, there will be a percentage of us that decide to forgo starting our HC toons for the moment, and continue on with our SC toons. SC toons happen to be the ones that will be usign the RMAH, which blizz gets a cut from every transaction - thusly generating more capital during the crutial first few months of game release. Remember you playing HC does not benifit blizz whatsoever.

I'm in the process of writing a program that will reveal the exact date and time D3 will be released in North America. The program will use variables gathered from multiple sources and factor in human phsycology and social paradigms.
Look out for it on youtube coming soon...

posted a message on Will it be balance
As some of the other posts have mentioned. This game will not be completely balanced. BUT lets take a step back and think about this from another direction. Is perfect balance really the best option for a game like d3?

To reference wow, way back in the beginning, rather that perfect balance, there was a rock/paper/scissors type philisophy. You knew if you were a rogue, you would probably destroy the mage or lock in your sights. You knew if you were a mage, you would destroy the warrior picking herbs over yonder, etc. With this system, players new to pvp or with terrible gear could still make themselves useful by focus targetting certain classes, while more experienced or better geared pvpers could essentially still kill anyone they set their sights on.

The other benifit of a rock/paper/scissors model is that team make-up becomes more interesting. It goes from a royal rumble to a more strategy based environment.

    The Fanboy

The fanboy has been tortured for years and through his anger and malice he wields the very powers to change the fate of Sanctuary and all it's inhabittants.

    Skills:
    - inpatient shout: The fanboy shouts his anger and rage at more delays to his arrival in sanctuary.
    - troll forums (channeled) :The fanboy sits at his computer setting his powerful gaze on his pc screen, gaining +excitement/5 seconds.
    - preorder: The fanboy readily whips out his credit card and purchases D3 only moments after flaming the dev team for further delays.

But in all seriousness, I'd really like to see a whole new class - something non human. Maybe some kind of demon that decides to fight for the citizens of Sanctuary.

posted a message on Advice for group HCers
Its funny I've seen voice chat implimented very nicely in games made by companies with far less resources that blizz. In my opinion it had less to do with development and more to do with saving a buck. It's something I hope to see patched in sooner than later after release.

I played a lot of Diablo 2, I really enjoyed playing the amazon, both javazon and bow spec. Can I expect a similar experience playing the DH? Or is the only similarity the fact they both do ranged damage?

posted a message on Advice for group HCers
Playing Hardcore is a fun and challenging solo experience, but no doubt there will only be so much you can do or will want to do on your own.
You may want to join a dedicated group of players to further your progression or get better loot, in which case here a few points of advice:

    The backup
If you find a group of players you really enjoy playing with, and you all play together routinely - roll a second solo HC character and keep it around the same level as your main. This way if the unfortunate happens and your main is killed, you don't have to spend weeks or even longer trying to catch up, while your friends continue to progress and possibly replace you.

    Background Check
Know the people you're grouped with. Your group will ultimately end up saving you, or perhaps getting you killed in a long enough time line. We are human, accidents happen, anyone who commutes to work will know this. But like a distracted driver on their cell phone, these accidents can be prevented. Do your group mates have kids? Are they on call for work? Is it a 12 year old pretending to be 24? Asking a few simple questions before you get started can save you months of hard work.

    Voice Chat
Simple; no voice chat, no group. Use vent, use Teamspeak, hell, use skype if you want to. Unless in a town, you must be combat ready at all times.

    Practice makes perfect
Practice as a group in normal mode before attempting challenging content in HC. Get to know how eachother plays. Practice taking down bosses, get to the point where you never die, then jump over to HC and repeat. You will be nervous, you will make mistakes, practice will minimize this.

These are just a few of my thoughts,
