Diablo III, 1.0.4.666 (death of the game). Making elite/champion packs not reset their health.
What, seriously?
This healing of elite enemies created a skewed dynamic from group play to solo play. There should never exist such a disparity in enemy mechanics from solo to group play. That is why they're fixing it....not to make it easier....because it is a broken mechanic.
In group play, people can time their re-spawns to keep packs from healing. In solo, this cannot be managed.
This doesn't make the game in any way explicitly easier. It smooths a currently rough dynamic.
Maybe its because I'm older.
I'm 40. I doubt that is the reason you're struggling with it.
You, like many many others, had unrealistically sky-high expectations of instant gratification as soon as you pressed 'play'. You, along with many many others, thought that you would be whisked away to a time gone by.
I assure you, if you think about it objectively, the best times you had playing D2 was long after it had released. Long after the rather limp beta-esque launch......probably after the ex-pac......amiright?
It's not just 'kids these days' and that tired line about the new generation and their impatience, sense of entitlement....etc..
From 6 to 60, people are increasingly demanding.
Blizzard very wisely laid D3 out just as Blizzard North did with D2. They developed an infrastructure of point A, with the idea in mind to reach point B.
And so with D3, we are at point A and freaking out because we demand point B NOW!!! "Why didn't they just start with D2's point B"?
Had they done this, it would have been met with the same disdain and arrogant trolling we've seen here. Comparisons would've been made. Accusations of biting off of Blizzard North would've sent a prevailing sense of disappointment....and behold, still, there would be a very vocal contingent of "FAIL".
Patience. Breath. Let the effervescence disperse from the newly opened bottle. Don't play too much, or at all, if you are that bothered. Wait for the change to mold this extremely high potential lump of clay called D3.
Diablo titles aren't like most other games. They are meant to be played for many many years without constant subscription type updates. It takes time to build the creature we all desire.
