mutilation guard / esoteric alteration gems - work to increase toughness
royal ring - does reduce set item requirments properly
fire walkers - boots work as intended
hexing pants - movement does not effect damage
molten wilderbeast gem - does not add life per second or shield
leoric crown - properly adds helm gem bonuses
harrigton waistguard - opening chests doesn't increase damage
aquila chests - does not boost toughness from 90% resources
st. archew's gage - taking damage from elites does not create a protection bubble
bane of the powerful - killing elites does not increase damage
goldwrap - won't increase toughness from picking up gold
sash of knives - it does throw daggers when follower attacks
moonlight ward - correctly makes arcane orbs in close range
ice climbers - does work to prevent ice crowd control
stone gauntlets - do not increase toughness or attack speed on hit
legacy of nightmares - does not make them stronger/tougher
captain crimson set - 2pc gain 6000 life per second works / does not increase str/tough due to cooldown reduction
(I do not believe cooldown reduction works on followers)
sage set - 2pc 250 stat increases do get the 2.5x bonus on followers for 2500 total stats
aughild set - does not Reduces damage taken by 15% nor increases damage dealt by 30%

I can see that...but 6 levels and nothing? I finished 122 at about 12 minutes, went to 123 and they disappeared completely. These screenshots are just from one run (of seven). I don't know...this just seems odd.

Both of those sentences are what are wrong with gaming communities: 'iF yOu DoNt LiKe It JuSt QuIt". It's okay to have a differing opinion from other players in the community, or to question if the current state of the game is what is best for it. Diablo 3 is kind of stuck in a vacuum right now until Diablo 4 happens, it's clear that the amount of development time associated with the game is incredibly minimal and outside of extreme cases they aren't listening to player feedback.
Your last sentence may have been valid if you didn't add "Kappa" at the end like some twitch chat mongoloid. What you seem to lack understanding of is that POE is not about hitting level 100, it's about ridiculous build diversity, experimentation and having fun playing the way that you want to; which Diablo currently suffers from in their 1-3 valid play styles per class. I play/have played all of the ARPG's because I love the genre: D1/D2/D3, Torchlight1/2/3, PoE, Marvel Heroes, Wolcen and others that have come and gone over the years.
To the original question:
I don't think the stat grind is fun, but it enables some players to do things that are more fun for them: push higher rifts. I rarely go more than about 1k paragons in a season, which is not remotely high; but that's where my overall interest in the game hits its peak. I personally enjoyed it more when there were 100 paragon levels, because it felt like there was a goal to be attained. Now it's just grinding x more paragon levels until I do enough damage or have enough survivability to progress one rift higher, but for what purpose?
I feel like the end-game is missing flavor of some sort, it should not just be "grind paragon to progress 1 rift higher" to what... go up a leaderboard rank? There's only a subset of people that actually care about that and since the leaderboards are not true solo, 2-man, 3-man and 4-man leader rankings it's less fun for those whose goal that is since you can gain paragon levels dramatically faster running in a 4-man group and then dominate the solo leaderboards with it. I get it; anyone can do that but many solo or 2-man players enjoy playing in those styles.

Why would anyone at Blizzard think it was a good idea to do anything with D2 while they have D4 underway? Even if it was possible? (It's not).'Hey, I know we're spending a lot of time and money on making the best D4 we can, but let's simultaneously distract ourselves and the fans from that work and siphon away some of our customer base for D4 by releasing a remastered D2!" "Genius! Here's a huge bonus for you!" Come on, it's like Apple working on the Iphone 12, but there's a hardcore group who just loved and old phone made by another manufacturer, so they're going to rehash a version of it just for them. Not gonna happen.

It's a big name game that carries with it multiple generations of gamers. The outlets will all post the press kit assets. That's pretty much how it's always been.
When I want to see more than the same confirmed facts, I usually go to a fansite or reddit. That usually solves it for me since communities around a single topic usually filter this down to unique information/takes or topical reading.
But by all means go for it!

Hardcore is fun IF and only IF you play it like softcore, but most ppl just play it safe, doing super tanky builds, never pushing GRs, farming lower torments etc... cause they "don't want to lose their chars" that's the only reason i mostly play softcore now, no one is playing challenging content in hardcore which in turn makes hardcore easier than softcore.

Well, better safe then sorry.. so just do it after the Season started Nobody cares for the 5 min you win if you do it like in the Video mentioned. Except for the guys pushing for #1 and finish all Conquests first etc.

Also, I've been told that people should create their seasonal character always first before completing the Challenge Rift so that you get the cache on your seasonal character. I've never bothered to test anything otherwise, so that might also be important in your tips there.
