TANK Barbarian - The Hooker
Hook the enemies... and get them hooked to you.
The Link: http://us.battle.net...iRYT!beV!cYZcYa
Description: A tanking barbarian for group play with focus on keeping enemies at his side and endure damage.
First Fury Generator - Cleave with Gathering Storm: I take cleave to attack a wide range of enemies that will probably be at me already and I take Gathering Storm to slow them, so they wont run far away from me. I dont take damage runes because I am not a damage dealer. Why not Scattering Blast? I focus on keeping the enemies at me, knock back would be counter prodocutive in this case.
Second Fury Generator - Ancient Spear with Harpoon: First I'm the tank so I want the enemies at me.. so Acient Spear is kind of an obvious choice. Secondly I can grab enemies away from my groupmates. Thirdly is in combination with Seismic Slam. First I Slam and knockback enemies, than I hook them right back. I chose Grappling Hooks because I think it will be more effective than Harpoon, guessing that enemies will not come in a streight line and probably wont be in a streight line after knockback either. Whether or not Harpoon might be the better choice will be a thing of actually testing it.
First Fury Spender - Threatening Shout with Demoralize: Reducing damage by 25% for 15 seconds.. Obvious choice. Demoralize adds taunt.. protect your group!
Second Fury Spender - Seismic Slam with Stagger: Not really a tank skill, but in combination with a 70% chance to stun the enemies I can use it when I take a lot of damage and have Threatening Shout inactive and on cooldown. In combination with Ancient Spear I will get the stunned enemies back to me. Stagger because Stun is nice.
First Situational - Ignore Pain with Iron Hide: All damage taken reduced by 65% for 8 seconds.. awesome would be an understatement. Together with Threatening Shout I can reduce damage taken to 26,25% (by 73,75%) for at least 6 seconds. Basically invulnerable I guess
Second Situational - Revenge with Provocation: Something to spam as soon as it becomes active, which should be fairly often with Provocation. Heal from the multiple targets I hooked to myself. Probably also good for aggro
Tough as Nails - Increases Armor bei 100% and gives me bonus Thorn damage that is bonus, maybe even good for aggro, anyway 100% increased armor is awesome for reducing damage taken.
Nerves of Steel - Armor increased bei 25% of Vitality. Again.. increased armor is awesome. Maybe the 25% armor from vitality will even be effected by Tough as Nails too, that would make the combo epic, since it would be Nerves of Steel * 2... probably not gonna happen xD
Superstition - Reduces all non-physical damage by 20%. Im already Tough as Nails and have Nerves of Steel to laugh in the face of physical attackers, time to laugh something at casters! Bonus fury is bonus.
Active Skills - I think I do not need to say anything about these.. almost everything else is more of damage based skills, though of course some runes give them kind of a defense touch, i just choise what I like best.
Passive Skills - I am a tank.. so why dont I take Pound of Flesh (25% higher chance to find health globes + 100% more health from taking health globes).. because I like the three others better since they are constantly reducing my damage taken and therefore reduce the amount of globes that I need. This however is the passive skill I am most curious about and maybe I will switch it with Nerves of Steel... I will have to try out both.
Why dont I take Bloodthirst (3% of all damage done as life).. because I probably wont deal that much damage, thats what my mates are for. Still this might be a nice skill to think about later and might be worth trying out.
Why not Relentless (at <20% life damage taken reduced by 50%), this is actually an awesome talent and would be most effective if you are below 20% a lot and might be epic if you choose to try to stay below 20% a lot... but this is diablo, so you do not want to be below 20% never ever ever.. so I choose stuff thats always active.
Why not Juggernaut(control impairing effects reduced by 20% and chance to heal 15% of max life when become stunned, feared or charmed). This might be cool, too... but again only takes effect a few times so I choose the always active stuff. But I really hope there will be other ways to get out of those effects, otherwise I might need to think about this again.
All other passive skills are for damage dealers.
I hope you like my hooker. May barbarians like this protect groups all over the world!

Feb 28, 2012Nurph posted a message on DiabloFans Calculator Build Contest (ONE POST ONLY)Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
Feb 24, 2012I am quite obsessed. I do not need to check my mail.. because I use IMAP with Thunderbird.. I switched to it because it was comfortable but also because at the time there were the first beta waves for D3. I use F5 on this site and on another site quite often though, also while on work. I also entered about 5 contests but did not win anything so far. The facebook and twitter contest I do not however, since I've got other stuff to do and there will always be someone faster! Its just too hard. Currently I am waiting for the "post build" contest and go crazy about it.. why does it take so long to start it? My build has been ready for almost a week now!Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
Feb 23, 2012I do not think that Diablo is gonna be a wow killer. It will hurt a little, but not all 10M subscribers will play Diablo, only 1M bought annual pass and there will be a lot people playing both like they played wow and dota both. (non-hardcore) Raiders for instance almost always only raid mainly and do other stuff inbetween like PvP, Dota, LoL, HoN, SC2, whatever. Diablo will be just one more of the titles in that list. Diablo is a type of game that you almost never finish but always can play for years on and off. So there will be very little people that shift completely to Diablo or if they do, most of them will come back after a month or two.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
Feb 22, 2012Nurph posted a message on how is blizz planning to face inferno diff in the futureBut that's okay arsonal3. For me the lvl of my char in diablo was never that much important. I never reached 99 though. I played... and either my char was not strong enough or it was. I hope to feel that in D3 again. If so its totally okay that the lvl curve changes with an expansion. I get new content to do, which probably will be a little bit easier because i'm higher than I should be and unlock next diff again. Fine by me! It wont be that big of a deal. I think the experiance itself will be better with new chars because its gonna be harder for them as its new balanced for them, not for the high chars.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
Feb 22, 2012Yeah, Origins for our loved chars.. it is a great idea, but its not new. Its Dragon Age. I would still like it, because the story of your own char is very interesting, but I think its not Diablo.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
Like the idea that you get to play it only after finsihing normal diff once very much though.

They state its just enough of a fee to cover costs. If that means that we get more content over the years, then I have no problem with it.
We actually will pay extra for more content, its not the fee that pays for it. There will be expansion packs and we will buy them. Thats how the extra content is payed for. Like you said.. the fee is more like to cover server costs and therefore should not be so high since D3 Games do not need servers like wow. But if they make a little bit extra of it, that's fine by me. I like giving money to Blizzard because their games remain awesome. They shall get my money for many more years.
Better Blizzard gets the money than third party china farmes whatever.

This is an encouraging post DarkAngel. Thanks. I've entered every contest I could find, been opted in to the beta since day one and am a rabid fan who has played Diablo 1 & 2 since they came out and are still playing them. But no beta for me, yet. Though posts like this certainly do help keep me positive!
They do? I envy you. I'm not positive at all about this. Constructive Posts are hard to come by... there are so many threads, especially after the contest started and people got to know about it. There were Threads created thrice because the site lagged so hard. Now you could say "so many threads.. well thats nice isn't it? Many topics to answer to".. but no. Many Threads does not equal a lot of quality threads. There are just so many threads without interesting topics or just without a possibility to be constructive OR with the possibility but already with 300 answers before one even knows about the thread so you can only add something that at least 10 people already said. Thats not constructive. And the thread I started just got spammed away within 10 minutes with only one answer. It's depressing

Will be probably nerfed to 20% armor. Right now it's absolutely blast. Must/have passive
I hope not, especially after Threatening Shout was nerfed
Did have it anyway in my tank build, but didnt understand the Thorns thing. I do now, again, thanks for every answer.
(Though, as is this "Thanks guys post", all but the first probably wont be eligible for random beta key since already answered XD)
Feb 18, 2012Double Thread opening alertPosted in: General Discussion
Normally I would agree with you, it would be fairer if one of the contest rules would be:
- First post had to be before this contest starts.
But since I only discovered this forum myself because the contests were announced on mmo-champion I am glad that its not a rule. Then again... I already made more than one post
The real downside is that the forum ist kinda flooded with threads and posts... My nice Thread is going down again
Feb 18, 2012Tough as Nails - Increases armor by 100%. Thorns damage dealt increased by 100%Posted in: Barbarian: Bastion's Keep
I have some trouble understanding this passive skill. The first sentence is clear, but whats the second about. What Thorns is referred to, or does it actually add a thorns buff?
do not explain it. Does someone know?
Feb 18, 2012You are almost off topic here. I think you are right hower, but do you think we will fight diablo this year or inPosted in: Diablo III General Discussion
two to threethree to four years in an expansion? And what might be a "filler" addons plot to make the schedule complete? Some other brother like Azmodan trying to grab the black soulstone?
Feb 18, 2012Diablo 3 not even released and still I open this thread already, growing out of an offtopic discussion in another thread, because I find it rather interesting.. so here it goes:Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
There was a leaked/forged schedule where two D3 expansions were mentioned. Do you think there will really be two expansions and what will their focus be?
Personally.. when I think of D2 I always felt like it was weired to fight against Baal after Diablo was already dead, but that probably just happened because there was need for some new enemy for the backdoor addon. I think they will change this now. They probably have storylines for the entire D3 series already set up. My guess is the main game will focus on Azmodan and the black soulstone, for the first expansion I am completely clueless, but the second expansion will probably be Diablo. Maybe the black soulstone is even the thing that will carry the story through all expansions right up to the end.
If so.. Blizzard would have the advantage to be able to release two full price expansions and they can totally be sure that they will be bought, because we all want to fight Diablo... I sure do.
What do you think? Will we actually have to wait two or three more years to fight Diablo or will he be in the main game? What might be storylines for the expansions?
