Gameplay wise he did nothing at all except resurrect your stupid Merc every time they died or cast portals for you to go through.
Cinematic wise he got beaten up and disarmed by Baal/Tal'rasha and eventually in act 5 he destroyed the worldstone by throwing El'druin into it (and in that case I'm sure El'druin did most of the work - just as it does in Diablo 3)
So technically, the only badass things about Tyrael in Diablo 2 are his sword, El'druin, and the way he looks.
The angels in the Diablo series do look amazing, but that goes for all angels, not just Tyrael.
Its a matter of personal opinion really, as all other things. Some like him, others dont.
You can overanalyse what he did and did not do in D2, but for me it is mostly the looks, voice and personality that make him a memorable character.
Okay, since i actually have a Tyrael tattoo, i gues that i am the best person to answer this question. Do i regret getting a Tyrael tattoo? Not at all, although i was a bit disappointed that he lost 99% of his awesomeness and is now mortal with a different voice, i did not like that at all. However we all have the memories of how bad ass he was back in D2.
Besides, who says that it HAS to be associated with Tyrael later on in life? I usually just refer to it as an arch angel or just an angel when someone who doesnt even know who Tyrael is asks. Its even better looking than a traditional arch angel tattoo if you ask me, especially the wings and "wing armor".
Here is a picture of the unfinished tattoo, its finished now but i havent got an updated picture here atm:
Wow ,you should get a beta key for that, if you haven't already got one.
I have just accepted that i will never ever get one, my luck is just that bad. Feels like i have joined every single possible competition to get one! Oh well, at least the game's release date is imminent!
The Sword looks allitle wierd, but the rest looks pretty cool!, conrats on thr tattoo, may the angels always be with you!
Edit: I always thought that Imperius on the stained glass would look awesome as a tat.
The tattoo is not finished yet, as mentioned in the first post. The sword has barely been worked on at all so far, the same goes with several other details. I was actually thinking of converting the tattoo into Imperius with the same pose as Tyrael, but i am pretty sure that the hood looks a tad more badass than a helmet in that pose.
May the angels be with you as well!
wow, that looks really awesome my friend, nice that it takes up the whole top half of your arm too - 10/10 from me pal
10 out of 10 was a lot more then i could hope for, especially since its not finished yet! Yay! It even covers most of the sides of the arm as well, sadly the pictures doesnt show the wings entirely. Will probably get a better picture up when its finished!
Heya!
This is my presumed hell/inferno build for my barbarian. It is ofcourse hard to predict what skills i actually will be using when the game gets released, but its a good start i reckon!
The build bases itself on AoE, stuns and heavy armor, the Whirlwind can ofcourse be replaced by another fury spender as the need arises.
The main thought is that barb will leap attack stun, cleave, ground stomp, whirlwind the mobs while they are stunned and finish them off with cleave if necessary. It is also a good time to do a strategic retreat right after the ground stomp stun finishes so he can get some health back while the cooldowns reset and he can rinse and repeat!
looks very nice, probably as tasteful as you could get it with it becoming too 'nerdy' IMO, i like it!
What do you mean? Dont i look white and nerdy enough for you?!?
oh i dont mean it like that! i mean in terms of i like it and it doesnt look nerdy. its not exactly got a game tattoo labled all over it with diablo written under it. if you get what i mean? i dont mean it offencivly !
Hehe, i didnt take it offensively at all, no worries! I thought the smiley made it obvious that i was joking. I am nerdy and proud of it though!
I was skeptical of the idea at first but now that I see it on your arm it looks super cool and badass! Congratulations man. Sweet tatty!!! Post more pics when its done!
Thanks alot, will post more at a later date! Although the wait will be quite unbearable for me!
Thanks, the price was cut down a bit since my first appointment was cancelled on short on notice. But considering the result the price was a real bargain! The price was 4000NOK, ~714$ or ~532 euro.
Keep in mind that it is not finished yet, so it is far from perfect. I'm going back in approx three weeks to finish it up, as you can see there are several details missing on the sword, waist and other minor details that will get added later on. The skin on several parts of the tattoo is also shedding like hell when this photo was taken so its not as crisp as it was when i did the first part almost a week ago. Overall im very happy with the result so far, and im certain that i will be even more happy with it in a few weeks!
Thanks! I actually brought that picture as well as the one i posted earlier to the tattoo artist a couple of weeks ago when i first made the appointment. Mainly because i thought that the picture you provided would be a better starting point for a black and grey tattoo. He actually used that one mainly while he was tattooing as well.
Looking forward to seeing the end result. You chose a really cool picture.
The hard part about having a tattoo of Diablo is he keeps changing. At least Tyrael is pretty much the same throughout the series.
I'd get a tattoo similar to that but my fiancé and her family would be a little displeased I think.
I wonder if someone would get a tattoo of their talent build to prove they believe in its validity...
Thanks! You will probably see the end result soon enough, took a picture of it today and a friend of mine will hopefully get it uploaded tomorrow. Been getting good feedback on it so far, the only downside is that everyone i meet for some reason has to poke my left arm even though they dont know that i got a tattoo there. Not especially comfortable, i can promise you that.
So your fiancé and her family is a bit conservative, and dont like tattoos all that well? Sucks, but keep in mind that its your body and only partially your fiancé's You dont have to get one where its visible to everyone either, a back tattoo would probably be a good idea!
I went back to the tattoo shop today to hopefully finish up my tattoo, and although it didnt get entirely finished it still looks awesome as hell so far! Got most of the shadowing on the armor and wings done, now all that remains is to finish up the sword and some minor details and it will be done! Will try to get a picture of it if i can get a hold of someone with a camera as soon(tm) as possible!
Did i mention that it looks A-W-E-S-O_M-E ?
Maybe make a henna-tattoo before to make sure the artist can deliver? =]
Also, one more thing to say to you: good luck.
Thank you! I had allready gotten the outlining and some shadowing done before i saw your henna-tattoo suggestion, although i doubt i would have done it anyways. I have seen several of his previous tattoos's on their official Facebook page, and i liked his work enough that i thought he would be the right person to do it. Doesnt hurt that the tattoo shop is like 2 minutes from where i live either.
Wow! Thats commitment right there, Ive got a few tattoo's and to be honest as much as I love Diablo I would never get a video game related tattoo. Id be too worried that when Im a crotchety old man Id be sitting in front of the mirror cursing myself because I can't relate to video games from my youth anymore. But you know, that level of commitment to the series is something that blizzard should see, thats free advertising right there, you should get a beta key if nothing else. Looking forward to seeing the finished product.
Thank you! Although i doubt that Blizzard would go head over heels for a simple fanboy tattoo i sure as heck would not say no to a beta invite if they threw one at me! I have basically given up on getting a key, i think its way more likely that the game will be released before that happens! However unlikely that may sound (that the game will be released that is).
As i mentioned above, there is a reason why i chose Tyrael and not some other character, it does not have to be associated with Diablo at all later on if for some bizarre reason i should stop liking the Diablo series! Im 100% sure that i will love this tattoo for the rest of my mortal career, mark my words!
If I had the money, I would get the exact same tattoo on my back. From neck to ass Would be cool!
And as you say, it can serve as a kind of a guardian: "Nobody dare to touch my poop!"
An ArseAngel(tm) tattoo would probably be quite expensive, but could probably serve as a nice guardian if you dont like getting flanked from behind. The tattoo itself would probably be more detailed if it was on my back, but i like to show off my tattoos, not hide them away 24/7! There is a reason why im pale as hell on the parts of my body where i dont have tattoos.

Thank you! Although a small amount of nerdyness is always welcome in my eyes!
You are more than welcome. The lower back is a bit too girly and covered up for my taste anyway!

I will not be responsible for any permanent head trauma when the tatto is finished, okay?
Sadly the other upper arm is allready occupied by a knight tattoo. A Diablo tattoo on the lower arm would not be that bad though!
Thank you! Not sure i understood your question, setting me back in what way?

Guts, balls or a demonic soulstone. I got them all!
I will wear it proudly, dont you be concerned about that!

Yes please! Make sure to notify the first Blizzard employee you meet and send him in my direction.

I prefer photograps over screenshots when i tak rl pictures, but i hope you will be pleasantly surprised.
Got a spare one? The gods of luck certainly do not favor me!
Well, that one will definitely qualify for a Soon[tm)!
