    Quote from Nymrael

I bet that if you take 100 D3 players (who also played D2 and D1) and have them describe how they would want D3 to be, you will get 100 different answers and if those people try to cooperate, compromise their "wants" and make an "up-to-date" diablo game, you will have D3 as it is now, more or less, minus the auction house, maybe.

    Also,
Three things were certain about D3, even before it's release:
    1. It would sell well and a lot of people will like it.
    2. A lot of people would whine and compare it with D2 (yup, I did that a bit when D2 was released and compared it with D1 but then I got over it quickly! :P )
    3. People would whine and cry about pvp for a) it wasn't released on time and B) when it is released there will be a massive rage because a certain build from a certain class will be slightly better.
(ps. PvP was never a main focus for blizzard in diablo games. it was ALWAYS a treat, an extra feature, a bonus, a way to say thank you. Instead, atm with all the whining taking place and the massive criticism around the corner, they will have to focus even more on that)

    Two things.

One, what exactly were you crying about D2 compared to D1, D2 was an upgrade in every way.

Two, the auction house ruining Diablo is a huge misconception. If you wanted to spend hours in the trade channels for gear in D2 you could, you weren't forced into it. No one would be complaining about the auction house if we could find gear in game, that is the issue with the auction house, it's the only place to find gear. The auction house is a huge improvement to trading.

    @TheDemokin

I can't believe you think that. I'm 34 and have been playing Blizzard games since WC2. D3 is constantly being compared to D2, by players like me. I'm a classic D2 player personally, but I've played my fair share of LoD. I won't go on about myself or much longer about D3 but Blizzard did NOT reach the expectations of the anticipation behind this game.

My faith in this company has been shaken, I had a bad feeling the moment Bashiok was telling us to lower our expectations for D3, comparing it to the signs or the village, while D2 was the sixth sense. Literally, telling us to lower our expectations, about a game made from a company who has been renowned for pushing back release dates for the best gaming experience. It's not the same company anymore and while I have over 1300 hours played, the waiting game is finally over.

No one wants a monk fist weapon with 225 str, it takes two affixes in order to get 225, and of course it's strength on a fist weapon. Personal taste might play a factor with a barb belt with +6 ham sandwich though, but I prefer turkey.

While you hate the time it takes to identify an item, which is weird since you like to waste time on higher MP. I'm with the OP who has a disgust for the loot itself and it's even more annoying that I have to ignore a majority of my drops because the low end market of legendaries makes looting and identifying them a complete waste of time.

Another issue about the loot system is with legendaries, rare two-handers and bows are pointless to pick up. Skorn comes with five out of six affixes already, so any two-handed rare needs to roll five affixes just to compete with low end skorns. Same with bows, you need to roll four affixes just to compete with low end manticores.

I know lots of people prefer the legendaries to be best in slot, and being a D2 classic player, I didn't mind that they weren't. The base legendaries are too good however and only a handful. They re-vamped them, but still only one out of the three or four top legendaries of each type are good while they others are still crap.

Legendary crossbow? AWESOME! Oh.. It's a hellrack.

When duping becomes "rampant" it's because it's public. Since the only method that has been posted publicly is the rollback method you can conclude that this isn't the method. Furthermore when you use this method you get a dupe of all your current gear. For the amount of dupes that are out there you would need to have been rolled back more times than allowed.

Blizzard had to roll back the Asia server once already due to massive duping back in June, you can find this information yourself. While this method was claimed to have not been live on NA/EU servers. It was assumed that it was and patched, guess what was released after? That's right! The RMAH. Which was pushed back several weeks, which was also assumed because Blizzard needed to fix Asia and patch the dupe method first. It's all speculation however, but what is fact is that Asia was rolled back for duping and right after the RMAH was released.

Now you might believe that the RMAH doesn't prevent duping from going public, but common sense dictates it does. If you consider that Asia duping is rampant and NA/EU isn't, do you suppose it's because we have an RMAH and Asia doesn't? Because I think it does.

There were also two other methods hinted at in the beginning of Diablo's release. One was with commodities, which was fueled by more speculation when Blizzard disabled them. The other was when we were able to cancel auctions after the first five minutes had past by changing our local time/date on our PCs. Neither method was released publicly after being "fixed" and Blizzard has never confirmed fixing them either.

I stopped reading this thread half way through it because I couldn't bare to read another person's thoughts, feel free to give me the same treatment and stop now.

For those people claiming that recent dupes floating around are from rollbacks, you should not argue with such conviction. Using logic that rollbacks and the amount of dupes are the clear answer, you then ask for proof to the contrary. However your argument doesn't prove anything either, and asking for people to show you a dupe method is absurd. Which is basically what you're doing since you don't argue that the dupes exist, just how they were created.

If we continue to use logic to argue these points, you should consider other reasonable points.
    • There have been other dupe methods that have been patched in the past, so rollbacks aren't the only method.
    • Rollbacks aren't a new method of duping, Blizzard and others have known about it for months.
    • The only thing that that the RMAH/GAH aren't flooded with dupes proves, is that the dupe isn't public.
    • The rollback method is public, and if you do manage to pull it off, I doubt you could do it a third time.
I could go on but this should be sufficient for anyone using logic as their argument.

The bottom line is this, duping is a real thing, the method used and arguing about it is pointless.

posted a message on Yet another Won Khim Lau question.
    Quote from thundersteele

only the Cyclones do lightning damage

Ok, I knew that. My question is, if my weapon damage is lightning, and a skill specifies it does weapon damage. Is the skill doing lightning damage, and does it increase from Won Khim Lau?

If you read Sweeping Wind's tooltip, it doesn't specify the type of damage it does. It just says "weapon damage."

    For example:

    Sweeping Wind

    Cost: 75 Spirit

Surround yourself in a vortex that continuously deals 15% weapon damage to all enemies within 10 yards. The vortex lasts 6 seconds and is refreshed each time you strike an enemy with a melee attack. Landing a Critical Hit has a chance to increase the vortex effect up to 2 times for a total of 45% weapon damage to nearby enemies.

    Master of Wind
Increases the duration of the vortex to 20 seconds.

So with this rune, it's dealing "weapon damage." It doesn't say physical. So what if my weapon has a lightning damage affix. Is it doing lightning damage then? Would it be increased by Won Khim Lau?

I'm curious about the lightning damage from skills, in particular with sweeping wind.

    http:// us.battle.net/d3/en/class/monk/active/sweeping-wind

Sweeping Wind just says weapon damage, excluding the Fire Storm rune which clearly states it does fire damage. I'm curious if I main hand Won Khim Lau or a weapon with lightning damage. Does Sweeping Wind deal lightning damage and would it be increased by the damage from lightning skills?
