posted a message on Trag's vs. Pest Lancer Builds

    Hi ALL!

I've been gone awhile... about 8 months. I came back less than 2 weeks ago and been updating myself with builds and all that stuff.

I wanted to talk about one thing and that's Blood Lance vs. Pest Lance. Don't believe the hype! The #1 player on solo leaderboards with a solo gr of 121 is Trag's Blood Lance. Just because popular streamers with 4k paragon post a vid clearing gr100 doesn't really mean it's a good build. 4k paragon and rank 110+ gems plays a huge factor in completing such rifts. What you need to base judgement on is how two different builds perform at some base level with equal gear and sheet damage.

I tested both builds at GR 90 with the EXACT same sheet dps. Trag's dramatically did more damage than Pest. It wasn't even close.

Aside from the damage there is survivability and Trag's is 3x better with better dps. So, why run Pest? Idk, because some streamer claims it to be better than Trag's and they get brainwashed. Remember, the #1 player in the world uses Trag's. He must know something, right?

Anyway, test this yourself. You'll find out that MY findings are very accurate.

Sometimes I think streamers are just like movie commercials. "The #1 Movie in the World!" Like ten #1's on the same day.

Well, I tried this build precisely as it set. I tried a simple GR80. I wasn't dying, but it took forever to kill stuff and elites were a no-go. I subbed BoS for PE, and that seemed to work a bit better. I did not even come close to dying, so it is tanky, but it took me 20:28 to clear that simpel GR80 which is no good. I tried my simple bone storm build and completed it in 8:36 without dying. This build is tanky, but does not have the DPS to ever do GR90, at least not for me as I am under P1000. Great defense, NO OFFENSE!

I was on the same boat under 1k paragon. Most players that clear GR90 smoothly are paragon 1.5k and up, and that's with ANY build. That's just something to consider. It's a strong build and offers something different. Completing 80+ is more challenging because it's a tanky build. Personally, I like this build because it's not CDR dependent. It's more engaging than running around waiting for LotD.
Other players will prefer high dps builds because they want to beat timers. This build isn't made to race the clock but it's a good build and can get you to 80's in no time. Clearing 80+ without issues requires a bit of paragon and sheet damage.

Great guide, I like that you don't simply provide an overview, but also a lot of details in the written section below.
Since you mention the HC viablity explicitely, are there any
modifications you would suggest for that extra hunch of survivability?

If you have enough paragon then use blue gems. I was using red gems in 80+ but I had under 1k paragon.

    OR

Swap out Gogok for an Eso.

Don't do both because you'll sacrifice too much damage.

This does look promising and I will give it a try once my gems are leveled. I do have a few questions as this build baffles me with some of your choices:

1- Why do you have CDR prioritized in your Stat Priority? You only have Bone Armor and Blood rush that use cooldowns and they will not benefit much from the CDR.

2- Why SOJ? The primary stats on SOJ are elite damage and guaranteed elemental damage, however, you do not have physical% as a stat priority, why???

3- Why Lornelles? Isn't Unity a better option for solo GR's

4- Wouldn't PE be a better gem than Stricken? Stricken is only good against bosses and elites, why use it for higher GR's?

5- What advantages are there over Bone Storm? Bone storm has a higher damage output with Corpse Lance, why switch? What are the advantages of this build?

    1. Just an oversight. If you read the description it's very clear that CDR is not needed.
    2. In the description, Physical damage is a stat priority under "Physical Synergy". The "gear" itself went through 3 or more changes. It evolved to SoJ. Another thing to mention is that initially this build was stacking attack speed with PE + Gogok. Hence Int + Attk speed were more optimal at the time.
    3. They are "recommended" not required. There are other options in the description.
    4. PE is fine. You can read in the comments section that we were using PE until 80-85 where we had trouble with the RG just taking way too long to kill. Stricken closed the gap. It really depends on which RG you get though. Some bosses are just a pain for melee.
    5. Survivability. This is a tanky build. Plus, why not have options? Not everyone likes to wait for a cooldown every 20-30 secs just to anything. Most people don't even like Lance builds but they play it because there aren't many options available. And, why play a Lance build with Inarius when it's 10x better with Trag'Oul? In my opinion, Inarius is a melee set and my build supports that concept.

This build has always relied solely on Grim Scythe. I created this build in the first week of Necro release. Didn't even use Mirinae at first which isn't worth much anyway now.

I don't use Depth Diggers because you lose a gem slot and +15% Grim Scythe damage which you didn't include in your equation.

These are things I've tested at 80+ grs countless times. The only issue is the RG. SoJ provides consistent elite damage than CoE which I have tested as well.

The speed increase doesn't work and hasn't worked since Necro release so that part can be ignored. Same with Fueled by Death.

    Mages benefit from Attack Speed.

If you're using Releina's Shadowhook for cube power then I would roll the secondary to max essence.

Yeah, that was my first problem. I had to remove all of my gems in my gear including legendary gems except bane of the trapped for the slow. I had about 500 paragon when I mastered it. You only want "active" Bone Armor to kill enemies NOT the passive Bone Armor tornado. This means you want to avoid hitting enemies with your Bone Armor tornado as much as possible. That's why you kite with bane of the trapped and decrepify to wait for the cooldown. This is what some people don't understand.

When you kill an elite you can zip through the map with Blood Rush and spam Bone Armor.

Everything else is detailed in my guide.

It's still a solid build. It can't out perform blood lance or pet builds though especially since Rathma got buffed last hotfix. It does very well in hardcore because it's tanky. I've been meaning to test Strongarm Bracers with Dual Scythe but haven't gotten to it. I found out about a week ago that it procs the damage bonus from the bracers.

That's not enough information to deduce anything. You're saying you use Frozen Lands and spontaneously combust? lol.

I wonder if you're using a blood skill during Frozen Lands such as Corpse Lance and just kill yourself? Sims with Haunted Visions amulet? Blood mages?

posted a message on Mastering Inarius Set Dungeon

I saw a few guides but they were lacking in "how-to" and less efficient.

    Requirements:
    - Full Inarius Set
    - Bone Armor - Dislocation
    - Blood Rush - Metabolism
    - Decrepify - Dizzying Curse
    - Ingeom cubed or equipped
    - Bane of the Trapped gem (rank 25)

You can take every other skill out your skill slots that were not mentioned in the above.

    Cube Powers:
    Do NOT use Krysbin's Sentence.
Do NOT use any cube power that will enhance your damage dramatically.
Use anything that give you damage reduction or slows.

    Cube Powers:
    Do NOT use Krysbin's Sentence.
Do NOT use any weapon that will increase your damage.
Use anything that give you damage reduction or slows.

    No, No's:
Do NOT wear any aoe gems.
Do NOT wear any gear with aoe affixes.
    Do NOT use any pets.
Do NOT use any skills with aoe effects.

This is the tricky part which will require a minute of testing. Just go to the set dungeon which is located in Act 1 Drowned Temple. Find an elite and see if using your Bone Armor will one shot the elite. Make sure that your damage isn't TOO much. Just barely one shot the elite. This is very important because everyone has different paragon and different gear.

You don't want your Bone Armor killing trash when you run around. Your goal is to kite them long enough to hit Bone Armor.

Once you balance your damage, you do the following:

    - At the start, you won't have Bone Armor up. Run through the map and gather as much trash as you can until you get to an elite.

    - Use Bone Armor. This should kill the elite and proc Ingeom. Now, you will have Bone Armor tornado active. You really don't want this killing trash because it doesn't count for the objectives.

    - Once Ingeom is procced, spam Blood Rush + Bone Armor throughout the map.

    - Travel across the map killing as much trash as possible with Bone Armor. I recommend going outside in.

    - Apply Decrepify as you kite. Kiting is very important. Make sure your tornado isn't killing random trash while you kite.

    - When Bone Armor is back up, turn back to the trash you're kiting and kill them with Bone Armor.

    - Find another elite to refresh Ingeom.

That's basically it. Just rinse and repeat.

posted a message on Very different and fun Inarius build that I created overnight!

My other build "Lawnmower Man" is similar to this build but focused on Corpse Explosion. This build focuses on Siphon Blood and Blood Nova. Once Siphon Blood ramps up, it kills elites fairly quickly. I use Skeletal Mages - Contamination just to proc 3x Nayr's. The important thing is that you can stack the mages at close range. 100% x 10 = 1000% + 2750% x 300% (Krysbin) x 195% (Nayr). I could try Corpse Explosion instead of Decrepify but the damage reduction from Dayntee's is really needed for survivability because this is a melee range build.

posted a message on Very different and fun Inarius build that I created overnight!

I created this build last night, and I've been testing it all day today before deeming it worthy of a guide.

This build is a very fun build that you can tweak and make your own. I see a lot of potential in it, but I don't have the gear to test how far it can go.

Nonetheless, I can safely say with under 600 paragon and no ancients that I carry 4 man GR60's with this build. I run this build in T13 rifts as well with some minor tweaks but my Lawnmower build is much faster. I still play this one because I feel more engaged in fights.

    Notable Mentions:

The damage for this build revolves around item procs and poisons. You must have 3 stacks of Nayr's Black Death at all times which is very easy. Once you gain 3 stacks, it usually stays at 3 stacks for the entire rift.

    How to play?

Step 1: Proc Bone Armor to 15 stacks, hopefully.

Step 2: Find trash packs or elites and curse with Decrepify.

Step 3: Use Bone Armor as you engage. You want to center yourself in the middle of dense mobs or elite packs.

Step 4: Spam Siphon Blood and at the same time spam Skeletal Mages. This will really have no ill effect on your essence. You can spam as many mages as you spam siphon. I usually just hold down siphon while spamming my mage key. You don't need to "stay" very long because Frailty will take care of the rest. Just make sure you curse often to trigger Decrepify procs.

    Rinse and repeat.

    I hope you all enjoy!

posted a message on Necromancer DB Farming Build for T6-T9

I figured I'd make a decent build for fresh 70's farming DB's as they gear up. This build isn't cooldown dependent or resource dependent which is great for players who just joined the 70's club. Your main damage dealer is essence free. You just need corpses to do damage. I don't recommend doing T10 and up with this build. The gear just doesn't have the damage for it. Works just fine in T9. It's not really meant for speed, but it's fairly quick for T8. Like most players when they get full sets and full ancients, they will be farming T10 or T13 so Sage builds won't really be needed. Until then, this will suffice.

posted a message on why do rathma necros run the shadowhook instead of trangs in cube?

No clue about hardcore Rathma. That's probably the worst set to use for hardcore. If you want to push with a hardcore build then you should try my "Cursed Bones" build. I guarantee you will hardly die compared to any Rathman build and can push 80's with decent gear and decent paragon.
