ya exactly this is going to be the nuts and bolts of the game and the way things will roll out. I have been watching all the you will die videos and those guys have very straight forward - damage and survivability stuff showing on their bars. guessing they are above 30 so they access to all the skills but the monk is using two spirit builders and 3 spirit spenders and one mantra... not so exotic

posted a message on Class skill activation disparities
I am not sure what this means about the fundamentals of playing certain classes but I have noticed there some significant differences in the classes as far as how many active skills there are and when they become available.

every class has the same activations up until lvl 13, that when things become varied.

for example between 10-20 the DH has a huge number of activations per lvl compared to the other classes... at lvl 17 the DH gets 3 active skills and a rune. pretty big jump if you look at the norm, 1 active skill per level.

The Monk has the lowest skills available:21, and the wizard has the most: 25

Is this just the balancing act or does it make one class more variable than others? Maybe the wizard is the weakest armor wise and needs more skills for different scenarios. Is the DH just sorta weak from lvl 10-20 and needs more skills to get an edge?

A buff is a buff, sounds cool to me. Does the buff get averaged if you are in a group? Does it apply directly to you and now one else?

I'm pretty sure just looking at logic here that the buff will be awarded to all players who are close enough to get experience and/or drops from that certain unique to also get this increased gold and magic find. It'd be silly if only one player in a party got it or whoever got the killing blow. If this was the case then it'd be the complete opposite of what the developing team has been trying to achieve so far with this game :P

And no I don't think it gets averaged. My guess is that it's as viable and rewarding whether you're playing solo or in a 4 player group! (Not really sure about this one though, perhaps you'll get some bonus or increased effectiveness for playing solo)?

Edit: I know you don't really get experience at level 60 but that example was just a way of explaining that you most likely have to be around when the unique or rare monster(s) is/are killed.

what I was thinking was if two 60's play with two 59's and kill a rare pack. the 60's would get the NV buff... if it were average everyone would get a percentage of the buff. If that were the case the incentive still exists for killing mob packs then bosses... I don't think it will be averaged either but would love a clarification.

posted a message on Adding "Guides" as a new sub-forum
this will definitely crop up.. people will charge for them but the best work will probably in one central place... so i say its worth it to start an open source pdf... take comments in on the forum and generate version numbers iterate and refine what we start with.

ya most importantly class guides would stick out.

Though the idea of this is somewhat outdated, diablo is not going to work like wow... there will be many best possibly options and not 1 or 2. so a guide to a insanely complex class system is counter to the games design - maybe there is something else to guide out for people?

I am pretty sure addon's or scripts that modify the game are highly against the EULA for D3. Reason being - RMAH, no one will have an advantage due to addon support or something that easily tabulates data for you.

They have to wipe everything to get battletags working right probably. I havent been able to add friends since i got beta and half the people i see are invisible or not displaying. plus they are going to make it so the character name displays and not your tag.

posted a message on Diablo III PvP Update - PvP Arena System Postponed
It is kinda par for the course on a blizzard release for them to severely cut what they had planned and showed off at Blizzcon. This is what Blizzard does. They have all these ideas running around for a game and then start to build and implement and then iterate them to accommodate, not thousands or tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands, but MILLIONS of players. This is compromise to a severe degree, they know we are at peak rabidity and want this game and that will drive word of mouth sales. They are not getting rid of PVP but only delaying that part.. so we have it to look forward to after we start to hit the inferno wall of impenetrable hardness. still excited but sad that we wont have a fully robust PvP system. Hopefully well be able to duel each other...
