posted a message on Mob difficulty scales instantly or as they spawn with more players?
Not an 100% sure, but if I remember correctly, the SK was a group event ; so you had to click on the door and wait for other players to accept/deny the event (or wait until timeout). Once in there, I'm pretty sure it was impossible for players who had not accepted to enter.

I didn't try though, maybe joining the game, wping and walking through the cathedral would have been enough to allow you to enter to the SK's room during the event...

posted a message on Bash Vs Frenzy
At the beginning I was pleased, as you are, to kick some ass lightspeed. But then I found a massive 2h sword and my DPS went much higher. From then I tried to craft some 2h Claymores, and poped a 19.2 DPS, Frost Enchanted, Life leech. Was very fun to clean monsters packs with one massive cleave and regain full life from this one hit ! :D

If a weapon has a 1.0 AS, and it was increased by +75% (3/4), it would attack every .25 seconds, right?
Duh... correct me if I'm wrong but I'd say that :
    If a weapon has a 1.0 AS ; you've got 1hit per second
if you increase your weapon AS by 75% ; you've now 1.75 hit(s) per second ? (that's here that I'm not confident ^^)
    So :
    1.75 hit(s) / 1 sec
    3.5 hits / 2 sec
    7 hits / 4 sec
    ....
    So 1 hit every (4 / 7 = 0.57~) sec

Eventually, you would attack every 0.57 sec, not 0.25 sec. Huge difference.

    EDIT : preshot by Solmyr77 =[

posted a message on Would an Open Beta ruin your excitement
Personnally, if I had the chance to win a beta access, and then a public beta would be announced, I couldn't care less.
The only thing that counts is that you can enjoy a part of the game.

We all know how hard it is to get in, and we all want so hard to get in (hum... in the game I mean :x) so why would it be less enjoyable to have more fellows able to enjoy the game aswell ?

posted a message on When will the new skill calculator be up?
Yeah I totally want to browse through the new calculator myself too...
Probably need to rethink partially the builds I made before, but it shouldn't be a complete rework, since the Rune-as-items have just been replace by Spell Runes, the effects remain the same I suppose...

It'll only be possible to work on a lvl 60 build though, since we aren't anymore able to choose which effect we'll use as soon as we get lvl 30.

Although in the end everyone has the same runes just like before :(
I can't see why everyone would have the same (Spell) Runes once lvl 60... it all depends on the gameplay you are looking for... some may prefer survivability, other would focus on AoEs, or attack speed, or...
Maybe did I misandurstand what you said, but the system as it is now has nothing to do with the choice of the Runes, in the end game.

The major drawback is the lack of feel to get better. You are just given every spell and every spell runes as you level, you aren't able to choose which effect to set in the first place (due to forced unlock order), and once you've reached lvl 60, there is no more progression Skills side : you just, as it was in D2, have to run to grab some gear.

posted a message on Easy fix To Greatly improve rune system
All in all, discussing is a cool to get the time rolling, and it's always interesting to see people's opinions (some of you are so much creative, that's brilliant sometimes :P).
    But I think that :
    - dfans.com is not the place to discuss at if you want Blizzard to be aware of the debate (though they probably browse every major community website's forums),
    - I hope that they won't revamp the system one more time for now, maybe in a future expansion pack (as they regularly do for WoW for example), 'cause I'm dying waiting for the game to be released xd !

To go back on the debate, I think the major "drawback" (from Blizzard point of view at least) is that if you're able to choose the order in which you unlock the Spell Runes, you won't "enjoy 100% of the game" (you'll focus on YOUR build, YOUR prejudice (is it the word ? :x) and potentially miss cool and effective Spell Runes effects that you did not choose in the first place). To force the unlock order is a way for them to hopefully make players experiment with all effects until they reach lvl 60, and THEN choose which skills suit better for their gameplay, once you've potentially tested all of them.

and if that system were to be put in place, why not just have more skills doing the same things the runes change about them, without the runes entirely, in stead O.o
I see your point, but as it is now, and as it's been already stated by some, SpellRunes are actually no more than "Additionnal Spells".
I agree with you on the fact that they could just remove the notion of "Spell Runes" and names them "Spells" instead. Then if you put back the runes as I see them, we just get back on the previous system, except that there isn't 7 ranks of runes, but just one or two.

(example: WDs aoe slow/damage skill that makes hand come of from the ground, its srsly op when playing. expecialy whit the +damage rune.)
That is very true, at the beginning I was planning on select only damaging skills, but I soon noticed that this I would be way too exposed to danger.
My favorite spell is plague of toads, and it has a great synergy with Grasp of the Deads : more aoe slow => more toads reaching targets = win.

I'm not convinced by the system as it is right now.
To my point of view, and to be on par with Blizzard, I think that every Spell Rune that is automatically unlock should just "Transform" the spell, modifying it's effect, but not making it more powerful (ie : no more damage, just elemental addition). Additionnally, they should put the Runes as items back, only one Rank (or 2, but not 7 as it was before), very loooooowww droprate, that make spell more powerful again.

So the spell morphing is a two times operation :
    - first you unlock every form of all of your spell automatically, as you level up through Normal to Hell (or Nightmare ?)
    - second you look for the Runes-as-items that make your spell more powerful (extra very low chance to drop in Nightmare, very very low chance to drop in Hell, low chance to drop in Inferno)

This way, you're able to experiment with each of the spell aspects, you can also enjoy "100%" of the game, in the way that every effect is at disposal, even for the more "casual" player (that blizzard want to take care of), but for the more hardcores of us, it's still possible to "tweak" or "enhance" our builds, by searching those Runes items. And the "Inventory mass storage problem" is still solved (as there is only one or two ranks, and the drop rate is low enough to not flood the market, at least for the first 6 months).

    What d'you think ? :(

posted a message on [Official] Release Date Speculation Thread
At this point it's really difficult to guess the actual release date...
Every time I tell myself : "Ok, now it's 100% perfect, it's time for them to release". And everytime "Well... we aren't satisfied enough with [Insert random feature], so we'll probably iterate a bit more on it, but don't worry, it'll be ok soon".

So, as FreddyBenson said, let's just hope people stop crying about everything, this way we may be able to have the game for Christmas k12 :P

Paladin. Some people telled me that Paladins could become hammerdins and own other classes. Also, my companion died while fighting a green hunter o na cave :(
True, Hammerdins are very powerful. But you'll need massive stuff before being able to spamm your hammers and feel the effectiveness. I would recommand to grind as Zealot as you'll probably find it easier to stuff from what you grab.
Anyway, enjoy, Paladin is a very interesting class to play with, many aura to manage, high survivabilty (shield block, def aura), high mobility (vigor) etc.

I need to do some work now but I'll come back and give you a proper answer... I was stuck there as well when i first played the game :))
Basicaly u need to go through a cave..2 lvls if i remember correctly.. the cave entrance is on the side where u kill rakanishu.. after u get on the other side of the cave, u will find an area where u need to find a tree... u ll recognise it cuz is quite special.. there u get an item after u defeat the fcker who is guarding the tree.. after this u go in town, speak with akasha, back to rakanishu stones , click stones in the order you will find on the item u took from the tree and voilà: portal to tristram, where u will find cain in a cage, in the middle of the map
I ll be back later with exact names ... this if u dont manage to get it done only with this info

LOL this explains. Those blue demons are a little hard for my newbie character xD.

Maybe you said it before but, what class are you playing again ?
Cause I have to admit that if you're playing a melee class as you first character, you could easily be overwhelmed by Raka's crew.
Distance : try to shot 'em one by one and keep a safe distance between the stones and you.
Melee : rush into the pack but back before being in melee range, this way you should get the aggro of the few nearer mobs, kite them a bit and kill them. Repeat. Try to not hit Rakanishu while tanking any additionnal mob, 'cause his "lightning enchanted" aura could be deadly for you.

    Hope this helps :P

Yep, I was thinking the same. But since it's kinda OffTopic I wasn't sure to propose it here or to PM you.
Btw I was trying to figure out the Quest you're stuck at... cause I've never been really stuck anywhere in the game, except when I was nonstop OneShotted by Lightning Enchanted's, act 1 hell ;O

Yeah well we cannot now... so why the fuck do we need people rubbing the salt in our wounds... especially if the person rubbing the salt didn't give a fuck about diablo 3 until 48 hours ago?
Just created an account to reply to this.
I'm probably one the most addicted and fanatic Diablo fan ever, played D2 from the start until recently, solo mode, open battle.net, closed battle.net etc, watched the direct live stream of the k8 Paris WWI, and, as most of you, got in transe as I saw that the Diablo Franchise was reloaded.
Since then, I've been daily reading every post on community fansites and official ones.
But I aint one of a hard poster, just a sad forum lurker.

So according to you, as I have less than 25 posts, and I've never (or so) posted until today means that I didn't give a fu** to the game until now ?

    That's hilarously wrong.
Don't be so mean and jelly, the game is about to be released, and as days pass, we are getting closer to the salvation.

Oh, and no, I have not any fucking beta access either.
