The console market "does not provide for exspansion" but work with DLC. = no sense another exspansion for market console
Ah, now I got what you meant. I still think it's how well they'd do expansion marketing. But yeah, probably dlc and future diablo some year.

"Fans are going to lose theif shit next year" from 2015 and "you have no idea (how excited I am)" from 2018 comments are pretty much alike. While in 2016 we saw only Necro which makes me think if some of these projects have been done since 2015.

I noticed that too but isn't it the traditional D3 logo? At one frame it can be almost fully seen. Not sure tho.

You might be right but there can also be D3 related content before D4.

D3 released in China in 2015. It's only 3 years old there. Wonder if that affects anything any way.
Also, Blizzard is known to want to keep low end computers along - so what D4 would look like? Only thing improving would be almost photorealistic graphics. If they choose cartoonish graphics instead of D3 artistic graphics, I'm going to cry.

I want three things that are missing from D3:
- Hunt for runewords
- endgame challenge outside greater rifts
- campaign playable at endgame

Let the hype begin.

While you are most likely correct, all this doesn't rule out they're working with a completely new direction for Diablo franchise and at the same time, D3 expansion. If they are heading into a new direction, they might want to ease the pain with D3 content and story conclusion.

New Diablo Announcement - Poll Results
Results of poll "The next Diablo announcement - what do you believe in":
D4 (sequel or prequel) 3 386 votes 55%
D3 Expansion 824 votes 14%
D3 DLC (new class) 790 votes 13%
World of Diablo 770 votes 13%
Diablo - dark souls style 322 votes 5%
Total 6 092 Votes
These are the results of Diablo's forum communities: battle.net, diablofans, reddit diablo & diablo3 so the results could be different if asked from all playerbase.
Majority, 55 % of player base believes in D4. 27 % of player base believes that D3 will get more content and 18% believes Diablo franchise will aim to new direction.
Didn't inculed Switch or mobile because while they are possible, Blizzard is unlikely to forget other platforms with new Diablo.
D2 remastered was not included as I was asking more of new Diablo announcements.

It's funny how throughout the Diablo community, some are 100% sure it will be D4 and some 100% sure it will be D3X2.
I don't think there's enough proofs to rule out either.

Let's see:
Why D4?
- Marketing wise easier
- Too much time from a RoS
- No need to work on D3 problems
Why D3 X2?
- No need for complete rebuilding of everything and reinventing classes
- Even a graphics engine upgrade makes the game very beautiful
- Development time can be used for adding things and improving the current game
What indicates D4:
- All the job postings
- Time passed so much from RoS
What indicates D3 X2:
- Exactly same hype style as in previous D3 releases: "Book of -"
- Even after all this silence the brand new Diablo gift laptops are D3 related, not only Diablo overall as one could think so close for D4 announcement.
- D4 announcement too early after some closely closed major job postings.
All taken in consideration, I can't rule out D3X2. Most voters probably also vote what they wish for, not what they believe in.

Really?

But are majority of playerbase nothing more than those who play the game once for the story? If core players who wish to play Diablo for years are 1 million players out of 15 million purchasers, it is not hard to calculate which weight more.

While new class is likely, I have lost my faith in a new expansion as the game is 6 years old.
Then again, a huge graphical and mechanical overhaul could be enough to sell an expansion to masses. Wow has had significant graphical engine updates with expansions. It's possible they could do the same for D3 in order to spare the huge work of doing everything from the scratch like inventing 5 new classes and 4 new acts.
Sure, players who dislike D3 hate the idea of continuing with D3. However, Blizzard knows better how masses react and those who play the game through only once.
I agree that there's prolly no D4 before 2021.
