Cause running two MMOs with close-to-identical state of experiences is a clever idea to go.
I mean, I cannot wait to purge through all the raids and sit in Tristram and pronounce how dead the playerbase is everyday because content reasons. -

Frank said there are more announcements in the Diablo 20th anniversary panel.
I simply love how you guys think the current rendition of the game is going to stay like this forever.
I also love that you are all the same people that said D3 was dead in Vanilla, and we had a really kick ass revamp with RoS.
Going to DLC is actually really cool and unique. In a whim, they can add content, new classes (not just necro) and many other new features. So long as it is all QoL and does not create a P2W feel I love all of this!
Not going to lie, I had a similar mindset. However, I don't think the expansion is going to discussed or announced. This -MAY- be it for major expansion, which I am sure many feel that this would be an act of closing D3 down, slowly.
I mean, I like the basic idea of this pick-n-choose level of content. However, it feels very reflective that they may not consider reworking how the game is played. Paragon literally stomped out how some progression that could be invested in. -

You would have said the same if it was anything BUT Diablo 4.Quote from petjivolgovic»
Yay, #diabloisdead... "CHARACTER PACK" YEAH I KNOW LETS SELL A CLASS TO A SHIT-DESIGNED GAME. LOL i'm not gonna fucking buy that fucking shit. Fucking spitting in my face.
To be honest, this should have been reserved for an expansion. "Character Pack" just reeks of where the extension this game can go without an overhaul of the system (which is doable within an expansion, mind you). Does tell me I was right about their investments into Diablo 3 as a whole, I wasn't going to expect this, however. -

Exactly how will this turn out, with your boycott that is?Quote from loldudejoey»
Deuderonomy's, even if they do announce Necromancer making his way into D3. Then what?
Simply adding a new class to Diablo 3, is not going to save it from falling down the charts in comparison to other ARPGs. I think we can all agree, Blizzard messed up big time on Diablo 3, and this is their last chance to right the ship. If they don't announce something BIG, people are going to begin boycotting the Diablo franchise. I've been patiently waiting to see what's going to be announced, and if nothing more than a new class is added to the game, they will have a lost another longtime and longterm customer. I made a vow, that if Blizzcon slaps Diablo in the face again --- I'm outskis --*drops microphone*
I mean, everyone who has been scorned to that level have already left. If anything you're probably going to wait this out till D3 is officially "over" and D4 is set to come. Anyone who's hung out this long has done exactly that in one franchise or another. People are also expecting Blizzcon '17 to have more Diablo and we're not even into this year's just yet. -

this could be the strongest evidence for d4 we have, since adding Necro to d3 makes no sense as it would overlap with WD too much.
They are two COMPLETELY different classes and playstyles. Venture back to D2 and give the Necro a try once. I FEEL YOU WILL LOVE IT AND AGREE THEY HAVE NOTHING IN COMMON other than one of their skills summoning a minion of sorts.
I can agree that they are different, but I always hated the Minion Storm gameplay on the Necro.
Though this is a larger reach; This -COULD- be a D2 remake teaser art, where some "additions" may be more cosmetic than mechanical.

Looking towards Diablo news in general. I have a few wishes, but expectations are low.
Basically I sense a trailer of the new expansion, but little to discuss on the topic, but much about the next major patch. -

Are you telling me that Apple outdates your old phone and causes many other carriers to drop any and all of last year's models and services for those models to encourage you to get the new one?Quote from TaurgroshWoW»
Doubt it on the sheer principle that, if Blizzard releases a Diablo 4 right now, they're cannibalizing not only their own fanbase, but any and all potential profits in order to run two games (D3 and D4) with consistent updates to maintain their relevancy to the playerbases. There is nothing D4 can "fix" that an expansion cannot overhaul in its entirety based on the problems I've seen people complain about. Diablo 3 is still, technically, too current and too invested in for Blizzard to say, "Lets drop these X-million concurrent players and attempt to garner back the fewer million to come back."
That's not how it works, in any industry, ever.
Try the phone industry?? There's one off the top of my head after 2 seconds of thought.
How am I even able to find accessories and call my family/work from my three year old phone now if this was a reality? -

Why would they kill off D3 and force many to move onto D4 (and more likely back to D2)? That makes way less sense. Cause their investing in their own games, licensing on products (how else do they get people and sell their Blizzcon merch?) and people are -STILL- buying the games, even now. It's why they're still running D2 and SC. Though with current tech is minimal efforts. D3 isn't at that stage of its life.Quote from Krayzieone»

Why would they run both D3 and D4? That makes no sense whatsoever. What "profits" are they making from D3 at the moment?
By your logic is why bother making expansions when they can just make a D4, and then a year later a D5. It'd force more profits cause people would start over, just like they do with literally just about any FPS game on the market to this date. -

I doubt Blizzard plans on going that direction. Recent interviews (one with SC2 and one with WoW) had questions regarding another MMO and WC4 respectively. The responses were very similar in the fact Blizzard would like to "not overlap experiences" in terms of game styles. So this tells me that WC4 isn't planned to come out in some time, mostly due to WoW taking up pretty much most of the core story (that we know of, of course), and probably the same feelings may be reflected in not overlapping DiabloCraft with either of the already existing -Crafts they already have.
Though I will be honest, it's an interesting idea. Certainly someone in SC2 modding may find a way to implement that into reality. I mean, we got CarBots mod and SCU, so... Probably not hard if they got the ambition.

With this mentality, why ever make expansions?
