all these people saying "beta is beta". while thats a great point, they should be saying "your only playing the first 1/48th of the game" (1/3rd of act 1 x 4 acts x 4 difficulties)

if the monks dodge% stacks exactly how the dmg reduction did, the monk could have a permanent 80% chance to dodge all the time and 100% chance for first 3 seconds of his mantra activation. stats have never stacked like this and they never will. very poor assumptions indeed. poor noob ive-never-played-an-rpg-or-mmo before assumptions.

They just buffed the every living hell out of every melee wizard close range skill.

    uhm...? no they didn't. lol.

it said nothing about buffing wizard skills in the beta patch. post where your getting this from

rofl i just looked at the skill calc. they NERFED his melee skills. big time. super nerfed the life regen and the dmg. now its even less likely a melee wizard will work.

in fact it seems every class got a nerf to skills besides the monk, which got a buff. nice
They got buffed, by not being nerfed to oblivion.

1st we have to share skills will a ridiculous flavor build that somehow shares the same skills we do, and now it seems the retarded mage, aka melee mage aka battlemage, will do more dmg than the legitimate wizard.

Give me a bucket to throw up in...I am not sure this game is even worth playing anymore, at least not as a wizard anyways.

i don't see how that is true? a lot if the wizards spells have tons of high damage. and the melee life regen is way too low to be effective in inferno, so he won't survive. so a long -distance wizard still will beat a melee wizard in damage AND ease of beating hell/inferno

Wow, what is with all of this comment bitching? This is one of the few posts here lately that isn't just "look at this blue post" or "look at this video", it actually offers a clear, well stated opinion and is backed up by multiple sources.

Magistrate - don't apologise for anything. If it's not for articles like this the site would be essentially a worthless news aggregator. Only small-minded individuals can interpret "I have potential concerns" as "I hate diablo 3".

its an epic fail thread. in a nut shell - "omfg if easy is EASY, then what is hard going to be? probably easy too!?" fail fail. zero logic.

not to mention the lvl 1's have twink gear that makes them more powerful then a lvl 8 would be normally getting to him.

This looks good- I like the heavy healing. I might be a little concerned about maintaining spirit but until we're in the game it's all speculation.

true, but this build is assumed your using your spirit generators most of the time. and in situations where you have large groups or champs/bosses you'll use the high dmg spirit spenders

Ok, I will try an analogy.

    Wal-Mart is a pure wizard.
    Southern States is a battlemage.

Wal-mart naturally has things that Southern States carries, but not much.

However, Wal-mart could incorporate all the merchandise within southern states. The problem is, that it would take up an enormous amount of space, and force them to remove other more popular items from the store. The customers who come to Wal-mart have little to no interest in products sold at Southern States.

So keep Southern States out of wal-mart. If there is enough demand for Southern State products, then build a Southern States, do not ruin the Wal-Mart.

best anaology ever? i literally got an anology boner. well said

i never said i disagreed about it not being "melee" i agree its alot more of a battle mage type. and not that effective, but i will test it. who knows it might be bomb.

New Patch = New Wave = PLEASE LET ME GET IN Q.Q

    Just my thoughts.

i think the opposite, for this patch. think about it. there wiping all characters AND changing the skills, so people who have played and then stopped will pick it back up and play, therefor they have less need for extra waves at this time
No, not at all, new patch means they are ready to test the downloader again, they will want new people. Plus we have people who will be sick of playing and with their characters gone, even with new systems they wont want to play.

I'm sure we will be seeing a new wave for sure, the size of such, who knows.

my point is they wont really need many new people so the wave will be very small. if at all

Oh, and don't compare WoW viable to Diablo viable.
Another ridiculous rule. Why is that? Why cant we use relevant background information about Blizzard Entertainment to formulate a more unbiased opinion? Ohh because its devastating to your argument....gotcha.

Heck if anything, viable has a much lower standard in Diablo than WoW. In WoW your game play affects numerous other people, but in Diablo you are only playing for yourself.

epic fail. wow builds cant deviate but a few talents here and there. you pick 1 of 3 specs and the talents dont drastically change your gameplay or viableness*. :P. and even back in the day (vanilla+) there was very few builds per class that were decent, which in my world viable = decent. dont know your definition of it. lol

VS. diablo 3 where the amount of possible builds reaches the multi trillion mark and viable builds seems to go well into the thousands from the workings of the talent/rune system thats currently in place. those two games are completely uncomparable in many many aspects and the viable builds aspect is by FAR number 1 in the "cant compare" catagory. lol

I will be making a Melee wizard and she will only use normal Attack and magic weapon. I think she will do fine in Infernal. I will also be playing a Melee Witch Doctor as well and both will be Hardcore.

I think the Wizard is one of the most powerful melee characters. We will find out when the game is released.

double fail. melee wizards main life steal will come from spectral blade runed (100% crit dmg lvl 7). witch doctor melee isnt a possible build he has only spells and summons. he has ZERO melee skills/passives. ^_^

Currently the only qualification for a melee wizard is Spectral Blade + Magic Weapon. Without some sort of offensive melee oriented spell, I do not see how anyone can claim it is technically a melee wizard.

That guy got his ass kicked, and that is only Hell.

Blizzard love to use the word viable in WoW, and I got to tell ya, there is a huge difference in what they consider Viable and what actually works. Shamans were considered Viable TANKS in vanilla.

in what world do you live in did he get his ass kicked? in D2 hell ANY melee classes health CONSTANTLY went down up down up downnnnn uppppp downnnn uppp. from life steal. so your smoking crack if you think he "got his ass kicked". lmao
