posted a message on Final Fantasy 7 Still Holds Up in 2011
    My top marks go to:

    1. FF6 (FFIII in SNES) - Incredible story, great graphics for the time, engrossing characters (good and bad), amazing customization system for character abilities.
    2. FF Tactics - The most incredible strategy RPG I have played, then or now. Great story, amazing job system, and just a lot of fun.
    3. FF7 - Love it or hate it, this was THE 3D RPG. Nothing compared to seeing some of those summons for the first time, however, the rediculous "summon charge" system of spamming button pressing was a terrible idea. Not allowing fast-forward of summon screens (Knights of the Round anyone?) = fail. That said, I loved the convoluted storyline and characters. If this were remade for a modern system I would buy it in a heartbeat.
    4. Chrono Trigger - Absolutely amazing game with a great storyline, multiple-endings, and deep combat.
    5. Secret of Mana - A multi-player action RPG? I'm in! This was a fun game with a mediocre storyline, but great music and a top-notch multiplayer experience.

That's a pretty amazing mousepad, at least in terms of artwork. Going to have to think about it now, great.... :)

I think we will fight Leablo (Leah's Diablo form) as the final boss in D3. I then think we will go on to fight a corrupted and very evil Tyrael as the final boss in the expansion (funny talking about the expansion before D3 is even released, but we know at LEAST one will be coming - I hope for several).

The image doesn't really lend to how tall Diablo will actually be or anything. Something tells me that Diablo isn't going to be 'human sized' or anything like that.

I also have a feeling we may see Diablo as a boss that has different stages/forms. I think they are going for more strategy based fights in the game and Diablo is the type of boss you can do a lot with. Have it start out in this feminine form, then it breaks out of its shell into some massive hulking demon of death that eats babies and spits their bones at you for 1,000,001 damages.
I completely agree with the post above. A multi-form fight with different strategies is just what the game needs.

Eating babies and spitting their bones is optional, but would certainly add a disturbing factor to the fight.

posted a message on Rares from SK and Itemlevel?
I've never liked the concept of getting a "better" item the first time you kill a boss. In a game like Diablo, one of the many joys is going through and killing bosses numerous times to see what you can get. Why should it matter if it is the first, fourth, or 27th time? The boss loot chart should be the same and it should not be influenced by the character level. If someone wants to massively outlevel an area and/or farm, so be it, but they should not get better items from the same boss (on the same difficulty) because of it.

Alright so in case anyone cares, as it turns out you don't need a D3 character to start posting on the official forums. Not sure how long it took exactly but I checked around 3am last night and there was a D3BETA entry in my character list. When you click that you have to make a temporary nickname to use on the forums.

As a side note, I've now played the beta for an hour and a half or so and I'm loving it. Admittedly, the combat feels a little bit Torchlight'ish, but much improved upon. Things are crazy easy at first but do start to get tougher as you play through. Another all night shift tonight and then, hopefully, I'll be able to take on the Skeleton King in the morning.
That's good to know, as if I am shomehow invited into the Beta I don't have an active WoW subscription and can't post based on my old D2 games on the account. Congrats on the selection and it sounds like you're having fun so far. :)

I tire of the powers of heaven and hell pushing around mankind. I propose we take them both down and sort out the allegiances later.

posted a message on Is Blizzard getting it wrong with the Diablo III beta test?
In my humble opinion, Blizzard is making a smart decision with the "general" closed Beta testing many people have been involved with. This is of course separate from the internal closed beta they have been doing on the rest of the game outside of the first few hours of gameplay.

The key to a modern successful launch is in the first few hours of gameplay. There have been numerous changes to game systems (skills, resources for each class, etc) and these facets need to be balanced across early content in a focused manner, which is what the beta is doing well. Once these systems stabilize, which seems about to change given the utilization of weapon damage across (all?) skills, I would expect beta to open up to the rest of Act 1 to allow more advancement in terms of levels and content.
