Personally, I think there is no point in making a Diablo IV, making everything from scratch. Why not just expand upon the systems that exist already? Add more of Sanctuary estate: Xiansai, Skovos Isles, Dry Steppes, Ureh, Khanduras, Lut Gholein, etc.
Or if you enhance the systems, make Diablo IV, and then Diablo III / ROS players get the systems upgrade free, and then can play with Diablo IV players who go back to play Diablo III content, but Diablo III players can't access the next Acts and new locations unless they buy Diablo IV. That way there is one community, and one massive shared world of Sanctuary.
I think it's a hype train not worth pursuing. D3 and RoS were both announced at other conventions, and the hype from that dice thing is just taking it too far. A D2 remake is more likely, imo.
I got to agree to disagree on this one in particular. Blizzard PR are genius when it comes to teasers, and hype. Look all the clues for Sombra and Ana long before they even acknowledged their development. Remember Diablo3.com? That was Diablofans.com former URL. Back then there was a lot of hype too.
I remember the StarCraft: Ghost announcement as well with binary code hidden in the HTML, and other Blizzard games come to mind with similar hype-stunts.
Everyone knew Hearthstone: Karazhan was coming because of the clue in the invitation: It had a feather, cocktail glass, stars, and musical notes. All 4 graphic motifs known to be found in Karazhan. That's how Blizzard subtly hypes fans.
The dice thing in particular -- you don't go spend a lot of money on a bag of dices with a printing error. There is something hidden in that stunt for you to figure out.
I just read read some streamers are getting flown to GamesCom. Not sure if that's true.
That mostly happens when Blizzard is preparing to make a game announcement. I was flown to Paris by Blizzard in 2008 for the Diablo III reveal. I was a Diablofans.com writer back then. (brings a tear to my eye) lol
With rumors and conspiracies floating around the net, if there is one place that the new Diablo III expansion or Diablo IV gets to be announced, that's going to certainly be GamesCom in August 17.
In 2013, Blizzard announced Reaper of Souls (not at BlizzCon) but at GamesCom. There Blizzard showed the ROS cinematic and some gameplay, and attendees were able to play the Crusader in the demo stations.
Then BlizzCon fleshed out more details about ROS in the panels.
So if there is going to be a new Diablo III expansion or a Diablo IV announcement -- it's going to be at GamesCom.

Well, I did say "who is already attending GamesCom?" GamesCom tickets are mostly sold out.
