    Download Link 2: Diablo I Character Speech.rar
    Download Link 3: Diablo I Sounds.rar

Contains all speech files from Diablo I. NPC Speech contains all speech by the townspeople and by the books found in the game, Character speech all speech by teh three classes (rogue, sorceror, warrior) and Sounds contain all sound effects, including monster deaths (for those of you who want to hear Knights dying once again). SOunds also include monster speech, like Snotspil and Gharbad's dialogue.

    Interesting things here:
    • It appears that Izual was supposed to appear in D1, as there's a file bearing his name in the files.¨¨
    • Another leftover sound is someone, probably a warlock (whatever that is in the Diablo Universe), who tempts the player into releasing him from his prison.

posted a message on Download Diablo II Music, Cinematics and Speech
This thread contains all music, all speech files, many completed maps in png format, links to all videos, monster animations, item images and other images found in Diablo II and the expansion Lord of Destruction.

    Music
    Speech Files
    Sounds
    Maps
    Cinematics
    Graphics

    Music
    Download Link: Diablo II Music.rar
    YouTube Link: Diablo II Music

Contains all music files from Diablo II and LoD, all converted to .mp3 format (both to reduce filesize and so you don't have to convert them yourself). The original files are stored in .wav format in the game files. It is also available on YouTube if you don't need it on file.

    Extracted from d2music.mpq and d2xmusic.mpq.

    Speech Files
Download Link 1: Diablo II Speech Act 1-2.rar
Download Link 2: Diablo II Speech Act 3-5.rar

Contains all speech files from Diablo II and LoD. These are still in their original .wav format, and so had to be split up into two archives.

The archives contain all npc intros gossip and quest dialogue, all monster taunts and all character speech.

    Interesting things here:
    • The original five classes all have unused speeches related to a quest that never made it into the final game. The quest seems to have revolved around some sort of magical barrier preventing them from proceeding in Act 2.
    • Jamella has two voice sets. One is the one we hear in game, the "old" one, while the other one depicts her as much younger.
    • Several monster taunts included are never actually heard in game, such as taunts by Diablo, Andariel and the Smith/Hephasto.

    Extracted from d2speech.mpq and d2xtalk.mpq

    Sounds
    Download Link: Diablo II Sounds.rar

Contains all in-game sounds for Diablo II, including background noise, cursor clicks, monster and character grunts, skill sounds, shrine activation sounds and everything else.

More information on areas: DiabloWiki.com - Area Size (Diablo II) Area Size (Diablo II)

These are maps that I have created myself of most preset areas in the game and some mazes that I have assembled myself. They are all in .png format and are quite large, the biggest being the Halls of Anguish at 11920x5300 px. Most of the images can be viewed in the wiki as well, but some of the larger images (Travincal, Halls of Vaught among others) have not ben uploaded there due to wiki limitations.

The wiki does include map fragments that are not included here. The fragments are not complete maps, but only select tiles from the game, like the Moldy Tome and Maggot Queen room.

For more information on what preset, maze and outdoor means, see the wiki page. Here's a full list of maps included in the .rar archive:

    Quote from Nekrodrac

It is very specific indeed. What is it and how it exists are irrelevant unless you want to plunge back into the debate of God's existence which you pointed out earlier as not being within the context of this discussion.
My own philosophy and concept can be seen as nothing more than a mere hypothesis taking in a large amount of variables to rationalize the world and its ways but to each his own.
It is not necessarily irrelevant. Let us for the moment assume that the Source does exists. That still does not explain how man came from there, what part we are of it, and why we want/should return to it and what that actually entails. All central questions here if I want to understand your point of view.

    Quote from Nekrodrac

Trying to go back to the beginning like you are trying to do is equivalent to asking-
Which came first, the chicken or the egg?
Never mind God or man's origins, here's a question that screws everybody over. So you'll understand why I find it futile to test my 'hypothesis' in this manner.
On a personal level sure. But if you're arguing against someone elses opinion on the matter, you will have to explain how it all comes together, or explain how the point is irrelevant to the argument. Otherwise it's impossible for me to understand what you mean, and it renders your own arguments against any other viewpoint difficult to understand, since everyone else has no idea of what you're basing your retorts on.

In my mind, you've established that there is some form of connection between man and the Source, and that man wants to return there, however you give no more indication of what this means. Either you know what it is yet have not told me, in which case there's information here relevant to the argument, or you don't know what the connection is, in which case it must be irrelevant to the point you're making. This does not appear to be the case however.

    Quote from PhrozenDragon

Man has feelings and he has faith. In other words he has the capacity to tell who's the fraud and who isn't. No doubt this will be a nebulous concept again for you but I can explain no further alas. Actually I can but I would find it infinitely boring to go into a discussion of what is good and what is bad.
Anything that anyone has ever believed to be a religion has by definition been a religion then? Christianity, Hinduism, norse mythos, greek mythos, even cargoism must thus all be valid religions. Since the only method by which we can determine the truthfulnes of a religion lies in people's own perception of it, any religion with believers must thus be a true path towards the goal. It should also be impossible to create a fraudulent religion for the sake for acquiring fame, wealth or personal worship, since people will obviously see through the sham.

If this is true, then one must accept that even crazed and obscure cults present just as valid a path towards this goal, provides that someone believes in them. Since the human being can believe in most anything it seems, any path could fill this role. How then does religion perform any function, or help people, if any path will ultimately work?

If this is not true, then mans feelings and faith are not enough and there must be some other measure to judge a religion by. Otherwise, you know that other people can be wrong in their perceptions, even though they think they're right, and so you could be subject to the same exact problem: you could believe you were right when in fact you are not. The only way to determine this is by some other source of knowledge through which we can compare separate religions and beliefs by.

LinkX, while not a brilliant debater, has stayed fairly cool in there and I didn't give him anything for it.

These are the PM's sent out. Mephisto will be dealt with by the managers, and depending how he responds we'll see what happens. For a time now you've been a part of the DiabloFans staff as a Community Manager. In promoting you to this position, we'd hoped to achieve two things:

    1. You would help build our community with the aid of various contests. Now we've told you that we were to get a poll plugin for the main page for you, however that has not yet happened, and that is entirely our fault. We have also not specifically told you what we want other than that, so your lack of productivity is not something we hold against you.

    2. The second thing we wanted was for you to shape up your forum behavior, and you did. However, being a staff member requires more of you than just being a regular user, and although we've been letting things slip, that ends now. Specifically beacuse of your latest posts in the Religion Vs. Science thread.

I'll outline the problems with your replies near the end of that thread. And before you mention anyone else in that thread and how they behaved, I'm not just sending a PM to you.

LinkX, sugarplumb, I'm not a troll. You just think I'm a troll because I keep owning your ass 20482084 ways from Sunday, and everyone but you and your (apparently) boyfriend Irrational fail to see that.
Man, you guys are making a fool out of yourselves..you should just retire from posting in this thread.
Refrain from namecalling. This is not arguing, and it's not constructive for any debate.

The only reason I'm not a moderator is because we don't need one. I can be a dick and tell Sixen to give me mod powers else I'll leave, and he more than likely would, because I'm not nearly as erratic as I once was.
No you would not, and you know this is true. You've asked Sixen to make you a mod in the past, and he has not yet done so. A certain amount of professionalism is required by staff members, and insinuating untrue things is not acceptable.

If I'm such a bad member, my bans wouldn't be almost automatically lifted, and I wouldn't be on the staff list.
This is also partly our fault, so let me square with you.

Ever since and including the time that Jetrall banned you before he left, I've revoked your ban because your bans have consistently been handed our with little thought and/or irrationally. Not because you're too awesome to be banned, not because Sixen favors you or anything else of the sort. This will not go on.

I can threaten you. I'm a staff member. You weren't. Good point you made there, champ.
You are not a moderator, so stop acting like one.

I can see and understand why you are annoyed by the discussion in that thread, as it doesn't exactly display the highest of debating standard. But neither have you either, with continous namecalling, claims of your own awesomeness, other's stupidity and the assorted threats and pointless additions to your posts (blablalblaba christianity). That does not add anything to the debate.

So, this is what's going to happen:
You will stop acting like this. Period. If you do not, you will be removed from the staff and perhaps also banned. If you cannot reply to treads with Irrational and/or LinkX in them, then I suggest you don't, and the same goes for them.

    To Irrational
    Quote from "PhrozenDragon" »
I've deleted most of the last pages. All of you try to keep the discussion at a level where you don't have to resort to attacking each other.

If you want to debate, be prepared to be called out on your bullshit or please don't be part of this because I have a feeling that you are posting just to feel... what do you call it... "big".
    Don't flame.

I would much rather believe in the harsh truth than the comforting lie, but apparently, that's just a "matter of opinion".
If you cannot enter the discussion without automatically calling all religious beliefs lies, then don't enter it. That goes for your entire argumentation in that thread.

We've warned you before about overstepping after all of your second chances. I will bring this up for discussion in the rest of the mods and see what we'll do.

    To Puttah
    Quote from "PhrozenDragon" »

What was Jesus then? Wasn't he out to prove something? Weren't all those "facts" there to give some kind of cheap evidence that god created the Earth and everything on it? When believers present this evidence (if you can even call it that) and then conclude with "so obviously god is real" then you know - without a doubt - that they are biased individuals that have been brainwashed.
Don't post things like this. Instead of attacking said individuals and accusing them of being brainwashed, go back to why the idea is flawed. Attacking the believers does nothing to further the debate.

-Mephisto's Lament-, you're honestly being such a hypocrite. He called your argument bullshit, you threaten to ban him, you call mine bullshit and make your negative emotions very clear, should I threaten to ban you? Oh wait I can't, and whatever, it's not like I would care to do so. Get out of your high chair and debate like a man, not a little boy with more power than he knows what to do with.
In the future, use the report button. Staff members can be reported just like anyone else.

posted a message on More Leeway with Set Items?
    Quote from Magistrate

With any luck, we won't be completely DiabloWiki.com - Sigon's Complete Steel Sigon's Complete Steel in Nightmare mode this time around, and the nearly impossible to find sets won't be useless in Hell. But will tuning set items to work in the end-game only replace the old conundrum of mass DiabloWiki.com - Runeword Runeword abuse in Diablo II? As is just about everything concerning the third installment, we wait on the question of balance.
Indeed. As was pointed out in another thread though, the key here is overall item balance. Even before Runeword hoarding, the item selection in D2 wasn't necessarily that large. A lot of items simpyl went unused because of bad modifiers. In most weapon cases, they simply didn't do enough damage to compare to the best items available.

It would seem though that Blizzard is well aware of this, and if there are a lot of different end-game weapons viable for any one build, then a set weapon could just as easily fit in there. The important thing will be to make sure that all items have modifiers that are viable. This would make the core item always useful, regardless of any random modifiers on it.

    Quote from duffman

it seems like once you have enough set items at a low level, you would simply discard all gear throughout the game in search of better items of your set. Thats not new and exciting; you're wearing the same looking armor over and over again.
I think that's precisely what Bashiok is thinking of when he mentioned the possible problems associated with this approach. I think it's a valid concern, and it would probably be preferable to leave them out of the early game entirely.

    Quote from mckeifus

Personally, I have always seen Diablo as a leveling game, rather than a race to end-game. I always thought most spent their time leveling(and releveling) characters, with a few really relishing the grind of the end-game.
I suspect you're one of the few. At least of the still-active crowd.

Now hold on here. This has such great potential, I mean this could be used as forum rewards and whatnot! We need to implement this right. Definitely meeting material.

    Quote from Magistrate

@OP: Kris, how would you say number two pertains to news? Just so that I have an idea of what to bring to the meeting. It usually seems difficult to me to be able to establish long-term goals with news because of its very short-term nature. I guess there's the desire for interviews, but beyond that... I'm not sure.
I had a thought on this, but it's very specific. Really, what I think we should do is use our assets more wisely. For example, we have that nice little flash box on the front page, but we're not updating it regularly. What we should do it reserve it for editorials, interviews and major blizzard news, and let post reporting, recaps, community spotlights etc. simply roll down the front page. That way, we can give increased exposure to articles while still reporting quickly on new things.

This can probably be incorporated across the entire site by using what we have in more clever ways. The main page of the wiki could use some more streamlining like this I think.

    Quote from Magistrate

Maybe...recommended news practicum reading to improve style/audience awareness/awareness of important information? Dunno. Monthly structure analysis of a random article from a big-time news column? Comparison to big-name game news sites?
Don't know what you mean except the column, you need to elaborate :P

Obviously bigger shoulder pads equal better games. That's why WoW is so successful, and I think Blizzard is continuing with that theme in D3. Hopefully lvl 60 character will have shoulder pads the size of refrigerators.
