So long at last I think the D2 Super Unique pages are done - could use a look-over from a different pair of eyes. I omitted Super Uniques that were not in the game and didn't already have a page.
Perhaps the only things that could be expanded upon are any interesting bits of lore on the monsters or tactics on how to fight them.

italofoca posted a message on Core Attribute Changes to D3I completly agree that this seriously hurt the flavor and would be impossible to implement in a more RP oriented game. This is a true downside, i agree. However, let the "Wave of Light" skill of the monk based on strength is not favor-friendly, certainly, and give the monk the need to upgrade his spellcaster side would just tear the class apart.Posted in: News & Announcements
And this change don't hurt the depth of the game. Unless if you think that choose Spell Damage for Wizard, Strength for the Barbarian and Dexterity for the Demon Hunter have ANY level of depth and add ANYTHING to the gameplay. Those are just names, they all play the same. Any difference is a mere illusion.
Of course, this is not true if each stats has many substats. Then a barbarian who gets damage from STR blocks more damage, the wizard who gets damage from willpower have more resources and the dh who gets damage from dex have more critical. Theorically their damage type indirectly adds different elements to their gameplay. But this is good design?
The barbarian have better blocks compered to a bunch of classes that don't even use shields !
The DH have more criticals, so to make the DH's DPS = Other Classes DPS they would have to decrease it's non critical damage. In the end all DH's would play like a lightning sorceress, while in the current system EACH clas can choose between a critical and or stable damage build.
And why the hell the wizard should spam more spells then the other classes anyway ? Aren't all classes suppose to be equally fun and functional ? Or the wizard's skills would cost so much resources that he/she needs tons of willpower to do so ? In this case a willpowerless wizard not only have poor damage but can't spam spells. Or just make his energy independ of any stats. Great.
Can't you guys see the problem ? Adding multiple effects to each stat creats many forms of imbalaces. And 3 separate stats that purely add damage is just ridicolous. This change came to allows better diversification inside each class. In the old system each class choosed 2 stats, the offensive one and vitality. With this new system each class can choose between one of the two offensive stats, one of the two defenisve ones and the resources. There are much more stats builds possible now. -

ScyberDragon posted a message on Merry ChristmasPosted in: News & Announcements
With the Holiday season here, it appears as though we have been given a gift. We have gotten some images of what appears to be the next Act in Diablo III. Showing just how bad the devastation is upon Sanctuary, not even Santa and his workshop are safe from the horrors of this Evil.
In the frozen tundra at the North Pole, Santa has been safely hidden from the world. Working with his elves, he creates toys to share with all of the children of Sanctuary. Perhaps the embodiment of purity and goodness, his generosity has struck a particular sharp thorn in Evil's side. Eager to show the whole world just how powerful the Denizens of Hell are, they launched a major attack against the jolly old man. While his elves put up a great fight, the demise of the happiest man in the world was inevitable. Soon his elves became tormented and twisted at the exposure of such evil. They one by one turned on themselves and even the fat man himself. Admitting defeat, Santa slipped out the back on his sleigh, leaving his own personal sanctuary. The monsters took over his dwellings stripping it of almost all remnants of Christmas. Santa flew with his eight reindeer until he found a band of Heroes looking to rid this world of the Evil that had taken his home. Informing the group of their whereabouts, they traveled to the most Northern tip of the world. Crossing frozen glaciers and blizzards, the team had finally made it to reclaim Santa's workshop.
Pictured right is a screen shot just outside the workshop. Santa has rolled up his sleeves and offered his service and expertise. Thousands of years of crafting toys has left St. Nick with incomparable skills with tools. Offering the normal trades of a Blacksmith, Santa also offers an ability to cheer up the weary Heroes. While it is unknown exactly what some of the items do, we can see a Jack-in-the-Box and a candy cane as part of Santa's items for sale. It is also important to note that while at the North Pole, a new mechanic and resource system has been added. A snow globe replaces every Hero's unique resource system. The details are still unknown but it has been hinted upon that the colder your Hero is, the more powerful they become.
Pictured left is a screen shot from the new area. At the entrance of Santa's workshop, the Demon Hunter is fighting off a horde of the corrupted elves. One must be careful when fighting these green clad monsters. They wield sharpened candy canes that can pierce through the toughest of armors. The cinnamon burn lingers within the player causing fire damage over time.
With Santa busy aiding the Heroes in taking back his workshop, there was nobody to deliver this year's toys. With Christmas now upon us, our beloved Deckard Cain has, once again, stepped up to the plate. Donning Santa's hat and red robes, the lore expert carries the book of "Naughty or Nice" eager to read its contents. Too feeble to fight off any monsters, Deckard realized that this was the best way to help in the fight against Evil. For he knows how important it is to all of the Children of Sanctuary to get their Christmas gift. If their hopes were lost in this last joyous holiday, then all hope for a victory against these demons would be lost.
DiabloFans would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
I would like to conclude this Holiday post with a poem. Found in the writings of Abd al-Hazir, entry 1225:
Twas the Night before Christmas
Twas the night before Christmas, when all through my houseI was constantly stirring, clicking my mouse. My Battle.net was logged as I waited and staredIn hopes that Diablo 3, soon would appear.
Giving up hope, I went to my bed,While visions of Sanctuary danced in my head.Killing hordes of monsters and looting a cap,I awoke only to find, it was just a long nap.
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter.Away to the window I flew like a flash,Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.
The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snowGave the lustre of mid-day to objects below. When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,But the Lord of Terror, and eight fallen to fear.
With a mouth full of teeth, and fire aglow,I knew in a moment it must be Diablo.More rapid than eagles his fallen they came,And he roared, and shouted, and called them by name!
"Now Basher! now, Crasher! now, Smacker and Slashen! On, Vomit! On, Stupid! on, on Bomber and Blazen! To the top of the porch! To the top of the wall! Now smash away! Smash away! Smash away all!"
As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, jumped to the sky.
So up to the house-top the cursers they flew,
With the chest full of weapons, and Lord Diablo too.
And then, in a cracking, I heard on the roofThe smashing and crashing of each little goof.As I drew in my head, and was turning around,Down the chimney Diablo came, quick with a bound.
He was fleshed all in red, from his head to his foot,And his body was all tarnished with ashes and soot.A bundle of spikes he had lined on his back,And he looked like the master, on his forehead a crack.
His eyes-how they grimaced! His spikes sharp at the tip!His claws were like weapons, his tail like a whip! His full giant mouth was drawn up like a bow,And the fire he shot out melted all of the snow.
A fire burned bright, behind his sharp teeth,And the smoke, it encircled, his head like a wreath. He had a broad face and looked eager to kill,He shook when he laughed, the idea gave him a thrill!
His minions attacked, they ran down the hall,As they ran up to me, I slaughtered them all!A roar from his mouth and a twist of his head,Soon gave me to know I soon would be dead.
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,He fired lightning and fire, then turned with a jerk.A hit with his tail, I fell off of my toes. And before I got up , up the chimney he rose!
He cracked open the earth, creating a hole,And slipped down in it, completing his goal. But I heard him exclaim, ‘ere he left out of sight,"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!"
I took a look around, shaking my head,“What the hell was that?” was all that I said.I took another look and what did I see,In my stocking was it, my own copy of D3.

@Asyn Sorry, I'm really new to the game. What's a runeword o.o Is it a bunch of Runes stringed together to make armor/weapons? Or do you add them to armor/weapons o.o I'll start saving my rubies (If i am lucky enough for them to drop...) and spare junk jewels. Also for the gloves and boots, are the names Magic Gloves/Magic Belt or is that the kind of description you get underneath the name of the belt. Sorry just trying to understand :x. Is any merc from Act2 Offensive? I'm using a Cold merc from Normal act 3 just for the frozen attack he does
Also what is Plugy. Sorry for so many questions, but I appreciate the help guys
Yeah that's basically what a runeword is, a set of runes placed into an armor or weapon in a specific order. Check out the Wiki for some examples.
As for the crafting, the names won't say "magic gloves" or "magic belt" it will be the names of the items in blue like: Vampirebone Gloves or Mithril Coil before you identify it. It doesn't matter what the prefix or suffix is, just put the item, p-ruby, jewel and the appropriate rune in the cube and go.
Act 2 Mercenaries come in 3 flavors, Defensive, Offensive and Combat which is stated in the description. The Hell and Normal versions provide the same auras while the nightmare one is different. Full description here: http://www.diablowiki.com/Hirelings_(Diablo_II)
Happy to help.

I know about CTA but if I dual wield hotos or cta its 6+ in total.
No matter what you use on your weapon swap, you won't be able to get more than +6 to your warcries, so there's really no reason to get expensive weapons like CTA or HotO when you can just pick up a couple shout sticks from a vendor.

What is a Tomb? I can't find it on the wiki anywhere.

apples posted a message on Help with Berserker barbtheres no point in doing a titan build here because even if you could equip epic sacred plate enigmas or forts, your def will be 0 when you zerk. go vit.Posted in: Diablo II
the best 2-handers would probably be either etomb 3os, or a botd, mancatcher would be the best for ias, death would be okay too.
ed jewels or res jewels are the best for a socket in arreats because you wont need more ias with a mancatcher than 40.
the best armour would be enigma in most cases, but for pvm fort will probably be just as good. coh if you really need the res.
might and conc do stack. although you could go with a2 hf to slow down some of the monsters
cta only adds +3 to wc on barbs. so even if u use 6bo ctas youll get capped at 3bo each. better to use 2 hotos, or 1 hoto 1 cta. 2 wc weps with str work too.
conc the magic immunes or add 1 to ww -

More information on areas: Area Size (Diablo II)
These are maps that I have created myself of most preset areas in the game and some mazes that I have assembled myself. They are all in .png format and are quite large, the biggest being the Halls of Anguish at 11920x5300 px. Most of the images can be viewed in the wiki as well, but some of the larger images (Travincal, Halls of Vaught among others) have not ben uploaded there due to wiki limitations.
The wiki does include map fragments that are not included here. The fragments are not complete maps, but only select tiles from the game, like the Moldy Tome and Maggot Queen room.
For more information on what preset, maze and outdoor means, see the wiki page. Here's a full list of maps included in the .rar archive:

On a personal level sure. But if you're arguing against someone elses opinion on the matter, you will have to explain how it all comes together, or explain how the point is irrelevant to the argument. Otherwise it's impossible for me to understand what you mean, and it renders your own arguments against any other viewpoint difficult to understand, since everyone else has no idea of what you're basing your retorts on.
In my mind, you've established that there is some form of connection between man and the Source, and that man wants to return there, however you give no more indication of what this means. Either you know what it is yet have not told me, in which case there's information here relevant to the argument, or you don't know what the connection is, in which case it must be irrelevant to the point you're making. This does not appear to be the case however.
Anything that anyone has ever believed to be a religion has by definition been a religion then? Christianity, Hinduism, norse mythos, greek mythos, even cargoism must thus all be valid religions. Since the only method by which we can determine the truthfulnes of a religion lies in people's own perception of it, any religion with believers must thus be a true path towards the goal. It should also be impossible to create a fraudulent religion for the sake for acquiring fame, wealth or personal worship, since people will obviously see through the sham.
If this is true, then one must accept that even crazed and obscure cults present just as valid a path towards this goal, provides that someone believes in them. Since the human being can believe in most anything it seems, any path could fill this role. How then does religion perform any function, or help people, if any path will ultimately work?
If this is not true, then mans feelings and faith are not enough and there must be some other measure to judge a religion by. Otherwise, you know that other people can be wrong in their perceptions, even though they think they're right, and so you could be subject to the same exact problem: you could believe you were right when in fact you are not. The only way to determine this is by some other source of knowledge through which we can compare separate religions and beliefs by.

These are the PM's sent out. Mephisto will be dealt with by the managers, and depending how he responds we'll see what happens. And from now on, I think we should crack down hard on even slightly flaming discussion the religion thread from now on as I did not lock it (and don't think it should be).

It would seem though that Blizzard is well aware of this, and if there are a lot of different end-game weapons viable for any one build, then a set weapon could just as easily fit in there. The important thing will be to make sure that all items have modifiers that are viable. This would make the core item always useful, regardless of any random modifiers on it.
I think that's precisely what Bashiok is thinking of when he mentioned the possible problems associated with this approach. I think it's a valid concern, and it would probably be preferable to leave them out of the early game entirely.
I suspect you're one of the few. At least of the still-active crowd.

I had a thought on this, but it's very specific. Really, what I think we should do is use our assets more wisely. For example, we have that nice little flash box on the front page, but we're not updating it regularly. What we should do it reserve it for editorials, interviews and major blizzard news, and let post reporting, recaps, community spotlights etc. simply roll down the front page. That way, we can give increased exposure to articles while still reporting quickly on new things.
This can probably be incorporated across the entire site by using what we have in more clever ways. The main page of the wiki could use some more streamlining like this I think.
Don't know what you mean except the column, you need to elaborate

Obviously bigger shoulder pads equal better games. That's why WoW is so successful, and I think Blizzard is continuing with that theme in D3. Hopefully lvl 60 character will have shoulder pads the size of refrigerators.

Added some color and formatting, all of which were taken from the forum to reflect the two sites "perfectly". Also took the liberty of using scyber's new background as well. Thoughts?
