Well, it's not Tristam, since Diablo that walks in is the hero from D1 that killed Diablo.
But I am also wondering WHO marius is. In the second cinematic, he has memories from the monastery. can someone who played D1, or know swhy he has tose memories, enlighten me?

It's excellent, though I play on Europe. I've never played a single melee game on B.net (well, maybe one), only custom maps. It doesn't make any sense, but there it is.

Personally, I don't think Oblivion is that great. It's fairly repetitive, all dungeons look the same, all Oblivion planes look the same, just run backwards and blast the enemy with spells. The good thing is the guilds, those quests are pretty diversive whenever it does not involve running to the nearest dungeon. In particular I like the Dark Brotherhood quests, those are excellent.

Minsc. If you do not know who he is, you have missed a great deal of worthwile roleplaying. I always have him in my party, even if I don't need him. It just doesn't feel right otherwise.

truth to tell, I've never played much on B.net, and never beaten Baal on Hell. Furthers I've got is Ancients on Hell. Man do they pack a punch. Anyway, I got there with the traditional Sorc, and I can't say I had that much trouble up until that point, except some deaths upon entering Chaos Sanctuary for the first time in Hell.

Yea, but it it becomes pretty hard to do anything when your reputation drops too low, so I wouldn't recommend new players to go around and kill the normal people, lest you want everybody to attack you on sight.

But I still remember those dragon fights. In diablo, you get stunned for a few seconds and hope you don't die, while the first time I fough The Shadow Dragon (Thaxss'syllia or whatever it's name is :P) all my characters just ran around being charmed, paralyzed, terrified, confused and everything else, but I still managed to win. Ah memories :D

Baldur's Gate may have the same theme and elements as Diablo, but it is a truly different game. Where Diablo is hack'n'slash, with hoardes of monsters, tons of magical items and fast paced action, BG is a much more tactical. It also focuses way more heavily on actual RP'ing.

In Baldur's Gate, you make your own character from scratch, selecting race, appearance, class and so forth. During your journey you will meet other NPC's that can join you. And you better take some with you, for beating the game with only a single character is very hard, if accomplishable.

The focus of Baldur's Gate lies in the story, as it is an almost complete reproduction of the pen and paper roleplaying games. Conversations take up a major part of the game, and depending on your answers and attitudes, different results occur. Both love and animosity can happen between the NPC's with you, as some can become your partner, and some dislike each other so much, and may sometimes try kill each other.

The fights are tactical. Anytime during the game you can pause (by hitting Space), and during that time you can order your characters to cast spells, attak, drink potions or whatever. But the game is still hectic, and often more challenging than Diablo. Trying to kill one lich without knowing what you're doing, or sufficently powerful characters, results in certain obliteration.

It is a bit old, but still, in my opinion, the best RPG ever made. No modern title even comes close to rivaling it, except maybe for Knights of the Old Republic, I never played that though, so I wouldn't know, and it was made by the same company anyway. Oblivion pales in comparison. Even though it has fantastic graphics and voice-acting, it has nothing of the intricate and extremely well-made story of Baldur's Gate.

To make a long story short, if you like hack'n'slash, lots of blood and reaction tests, this game isn't for you. However if you appreciate an excellent story, tactics and a free gameplay (the game has tons of sidequests) this you must try. The biggest obstacle to overcome are the graphics, and grasping the system. You really have to have an understanding for how the rules fo the game work to get the maximum out of it.

Sidequests would definately be a positive thing, but I would still like to see them as well made as the main quests, if not as extensive or important.

I think we're all addicts to a greater or lesser extent, or else we wouldn't be here awaiting an unannounced game.

I think it's coming only for PC. You really need a mouse for D2, and I can't imagine D3 changing that aspect without taking away much of what makes Diablo special.

Bah! my whole post disappeared, so I'll make it short.

WoW has sold : 8 million copies
    Current subscriptions: 6.5 million

    Warcraft III sold: 7.6 million

    Diablo 2 sold: 14.5 million

Clearly, Diablo was more popular than WC3, yet WoW was based upon Warcraft. A potential fanbase of 14.5 million exists for Diablo, and even if everybody who plays WoW is a former Diablo fan (which they are far from), that leaves 7.9 million people waiting for D3.
