I don't remember that I got the popup on diablofans but email I got but I was busy when the email came and didn't push link because I didn't think that impact would be so big.

I enjoy both but I like D3 more. I play about 100 hours of both every season.
Biggest problem in POE is that leader boards are based to calendar time and season themes are little bit odd. eg. tower defending.
If you don't like season theme it gets boring very quickly. What happen to me during current season. I like SSF a lot but that limits builds big time.

Why don't you update it right to way? Is something preventing that? S25 ended already. Those timers were also awesome a while ago!

Many accounts lost their name and are named as user-[number].
Also (some of) their forum entries are deleted. Builds are there still but with user-[number]n name.
You can see many account named as user-[number] on forums if you check out. (me included)
