posted a message on Why do people use LoH
Well the sweeping winds part of Cyclone definitely doesn't trigger LoH, but maybe the cyclone procs do. But the sheet in the recent monk guide posted on the front page specifically noted that Cyclone doesn't benefit from LoH.
Not that it matters though, get some crit and it does wonderful damage =)

posted a message on Crit vs. Attack Speed
Both are ok. Lots of crit with some crit damage running Sweeping Winds-> Cyclone is crazy fun though so I'm working on crit. I've lost some attack speed but it's not been too much of a problem.

Awesome guide man. I especially appreciate the way you format this guide. Very to the point and in Layman's terms.

posted a message on One with Everything, what do you stack?
I stack Lightning. I had the most of that on my higher level gear at the time I decided to start playing with OwE. But I also agreed to stick with it because it seemed like the least in demand resist for other classes because there's nothing too huge in the game that does lightning, and I can only think of one affix on packs (Electrified) that's relevant. And Electrified isn't really all that threatening, unlike D2 - for different reasons though ;)

Regardless, I wanted to avoid fire at all costs because that's probably the most sought after resist as it works against a lot of affixes and they all suck. I kind of thought the same would be true for arcane too but fire was definitely the biggie to avoid.
I can see cold resist being a good candidate.

posted a message on Anyone else throw in the towel till at least 1.03
Yep, my main (monk) is on a mini hiatus. I've beaten act 1 on inferno. I don't have a problem with farming Act 1 inferno for a while to get geared for Act 2, or say only the first part until magda in Act 2 to progress. But I want the reason to be for the actual loot and not gold farming for AH play. I've used the AH too much already imo just to be geared for the first act.

Until then I'm just playing alts quite casually. Just got my DH to 50, a couple of kills away from 51.
The exception to playing Inferno though is if friends are online, then the shitty drops are worth the fun.

For me on EU I was able to log in pretty much at will somewhere between 1:30 and 2 am. Americas potentially have even more people going for this right now though so it might take a bit longer.

posted a message on I'm not happy about Blizzard limiting Diablo 3
    Quote from Kaoskadosk

I see any game as art. Would you go to a photographer and say "I want to buy this picture, but can you make it darker? Otherwise I don't want it." It's kind of an insult, and I see it to be the same way with games.

You hit the nail on the head, sir

posted a message on (Poll) How many days off did you take for the release ??
I wish I could take more than 2 days off. All I've managed to do is clear the 15th, moving that stuff to the 14th. Then I'll make sure to keep friday clear. Thursday is a national holiday, and Wednesday I will have 2 last classes I have to attend with exams starting the following week =(

I'll be so happy once June 14th has passed. Then I can give zero fucks and play all I want without remorse.

posted a message on Playing By Yourself or With Others?
Compelling to comment on title is compelling.

Solo when no one is around, otherwise I'll likely find myself playing with my brother and/or friends once we're all on the same page at 60 farming Hell or Inferno.

All of a sudden the entire community stops liking/sharing stuff and it's stuck on 98%. forever.

Nah. Considering the time, money and effort that went in to making the short, they have to put it out. It's like making 5 commercials but never putting them out there.
Wheather or not people like/share stuff we'll see the stuff sooner or later. Quite possibly later today, but by the end of Friday for sure.

posted a message on Direct quote from Jay Wilson supporting PvP in Diablo 3
I'm pretty sure they mentioned at the last Blizzcon that they like the idea of implementing different modes. You mentioned Horde mode, they did too. If memory serves, they were (at the time anyway) unsure how to present in a way that makes sense for Diablo since putting the heroes in an arena, a controlled environment where suddenly slaying demons is Roman arena style entertainment doesn't make sense for Sanctuary.

Like some of the others here I really don't know what you're raging on about, dropping F bombs at pixels. You waste your energy, sir.

People who want to PvP will do it. The game is too complicated to maintain a perfect balance, which ties in to why they always mention eSports with competitive PvP. It's been clear from the start: They want PvP to be a system where people can go to for a change of pace. One where you can punch player controlled characters in the face with. Variaties in how this happens, that's something they'll likely support, especially over time. But it IS going to be as simple as that.

The way I see it is that in order to have a competitive environment, the play field wants to be equal, or as equal as you can make it. And it's that equality that they do not wish to pursue. Let's say Wizards are ridiculously under powered in PvP. They just don't want to spend time fixing that imbalance. Consider it laziness or whatever, but it's their choice with their game.

Anyway, can you just clear up what exactly your intent is? I'll be the first to say I'm dull/dense, but clearly I'm not the only one confused here.

posted a message on Jay Wilson: I think the fun is in playing the game, not working out how to play it.
Even if you misinterpret what he said and you play Diablo, or play games in general, for the theory side, what's stopping you from doing that?

You can still plan out your character in Diablo 3 and there is merit to doing it. You just don't have to start all over again if your plan didn't come together. You could port back to town, give your build some thought and tweak it and jump right back in again.
THAT is I think what Jay is referring to. It's not fun to fail on your build, log out and for some people literally go back to the drawing board.
Isn't it far more fun to just stay in game, tweak, and get back to it? Ultimately a game is to be played. Otherwise you might as well just purely theorycraft and dream, never actually playing the game. Probably kind of how a lot of people have been 'playing' D3 ever since they launched the skill calculator =p

posted a message on Imbalance of Barb/Monk
Crippling Wave actually felt like it was just a slight tick slower than Deadly Reach to me but that might just have been my imagination at the time.

You just can't treat these comparisons in 1:1 format, they're very different in how you play and how you use your abilities.

Honestly all we can do is just wait till the game releases and actually play it in its entirety with access to everything and after some likely post launch tuning. Paper play is so different from the real deal. The theory says that in practice everything should go according to the theory, but in practice it never really does ;)
Regardless I doubt that it's so broken that it'll feel like Barbarian completely out shadows the Monk.

posted a message on YAY! The Monk finally gets some love! (Skill Weapon Animations)
It's nice, though I still would want the option of just hiding or permanently sheathing the weapon instead because I do actually like animations the skill have as it is. If it was at all possible to have a weaponless monk I'd possibly do it, and it's not out of laziness of not finding a decent weapon. It was one of the coolest things about playing TK in SW Galaxy waaaay back when I actually played it =)

But I'm happy that they've voiced the situation on monk animations because I know a lot of people care about it. I was concerned at first too but I have to say it was not noticeable at all when I played the open beta. Only like, those first couple of zombie kills before getting to New Tristram.

I'm looking forward to seeing what these new monk specific weapons will be in the future. At first I thought nunchaku but that was a discussion from WoW monks.

posted a message on Does Dashing Strike Require a Target?
You can use the skill at any time as long as you can pay the spirit cost, but you won't actually go anywhere unless you have a hostile target like a monster or a barrel - yes hostile barrels...they have skeletons in them! ;)

So you can't use it as targetless travel like Leap or Vault but as long as there's stuff around you you're extremely mobile.
