I follow US politics pretty closely, but I have absolutely zero desire to become a politician. I'm also interested in learning about how security holes are exploited in online platforms out of both professional and personal curiosity despite having no desire to actually use any of the exploits. And since it seems mandatory when posting in this thread, let me preemptively state that if you disagree with me, you're probably a racist homophobe who is worse than Hitler.

ruksak posted a message on Power for money ? Is that ok with the D3 Community? This reminds me of the argument some parents have about teenage sex. Instead of giving them contraception, they tell them not to have sex at all.....and we all know what happens after that.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
Fact is, in D2, the power structure was almost entirely ruled by people that bought their items and even entire characters/accounts.
Blizzard has recognized that it is no more possible to stop the illicit trade in virtual wares than it is to stop teenagers from fucking.
What Blizz has done is sanction the transactions in a safe environment while making a cut that will give the players a higher quality, better maintained free online gaming experience for years to come. As well, this measure will do well to shut down many item "stores" whom previously made a 100% profit from selling game items.
Personally, I don't buy items. I wish the practice could be abolished. The fact is that it will never go away and I'd rather have the practice sanctioned and controlled by the developers instead of spam-botting bottom-feeding assholes. -

Kisho posted a message on Patch 1.0.3 PreviewPosted in: News & AnnouncementsQuote from Spellmystery
Nice patch changes love them. Just a bit "nervous" about repair x4 or x5. So instead of lets say 7.000 gold repair, it will be 28.000 or 35.000 . Not everyone is "graveyard zerging" enemies. But as Triptic said...can't please them all!
Ideally, with these changes you'll only be dying a lot if you're severely undergeared. In other words...
Now, you'll die a lot because stuff one shots you, regardless of gear. It's ok though, because you can just run back and keep chipping away at their HP, dying 4-5 times in the process.
After the patch, you'll only die if you're really undergeared. If you're properly geared, you'll die once, maybe twice, or probably not at all if you're skilled. Less deaths means less durability loss, means less repairs required but they cost more.
The point I'm trying to make is I think it'll ultimately balance out. Sure, if you're undergeared and trying to bruteforce it you're going to suffer. But if you're appropriately geared and playing well, you shouldn't notice much change. -

Bleu42 posted a message on How long did they expect this game to last? You've uh... never played much diablo 2 have you? This game, nay, this entire franchise is built exclusively around the item hunt. In D2 (which I'll site because it was played for over a decade by many, and they did the same exact thing every night - MF runs and baal runs), this was also the case. Leveling was never what drew people in. You could be close to 85 in mere hours. D3 has WAY more potential than D2. I mean, people played D2 day and night doing the same exact baal run in the same exact place for nothing more than experience, and maybe a good drop once every couple hundred kills (if they even killed baal).Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
My point being people religiously played even though;
It was the same boss over and over, and it was super easy. There was without argument 1 item that was BIS for your class / spec and that's the only thing that you wanted. Getting that item was ridiculously easy since people were duping items for profit for years, and yet people still sought them out as drops.
D3 will surpass it on the basic levels of;
There's always going to be a better (if slightly) item for your class / spec. Duping won't be a problem and you're actually going to have to farm / trade for that item. It's going to be years before people can say their class is maxed out with the items for their spec. Also in regards to the item hunt, farming any act in inferno will be viable. Yes act 4 can drop a higher ilvl than act 1, but the ratio of kill speed / ilvl drop depends solely on the player and the gear. If it's faster for you to farm act 1 with all MF gear on, sell the awesome drops for gold and buy the act 4 drops, then so be it. If you'd rather farm the drops yourself, you can.
TLDR; Leveling was never why people played diablo, with the exception of you have to because you messed up a build (before the respec patch in D2). It always has been about the item hunt, and it always will be. If you can't wrap your head around that, then this franchise is not for you. -

Red_Panda1 posted a message on Diablo III - Game Design UpdatePosted in: News & AnnouncementsQuote from robotwars2
Yawn. They're using a bunch of wordy responses in hopes to confuse the reader's actual issues with the game. Straw man, deflection, camouflaging. Whatever. The game is flawed, it's lazy, and it's cheap. I don't die because I'm bad, I die because the game mechanics are cheap. There's no skill, there's no intense moments where I have to use a correct sequence to survive a given situation (unless you consider trap, kite, run, shoot "skill"). And now I'm just about out of hell and feel like I accomplished nothing. Why? Because when I died I just went back to the mobs and unloaded and died again and repeat. There were no tactics, nothing other than kiting and shooting and dying. Obviously you want this to be a gear check.. great. Guess what? I didn't get a single rare item in Hell for my class. I didn't get a single upgrade in hell. The harder the game got, the worse the drops got. This is a fact. Sure, involve luck, but should lucky keep me completely out of balancing my character when I'm putting more time and effort into the game? This makes no sense. But hey, I got a bunch of other classes upgrades and rares. What a coincidence, I can now use the auction house to sell these items and buy item that anther class got that would have benefited me. Why is this not shocking? Why, it's the RMAH. Obviously it hasn't been released, but that completely irrelevant considering it was meant to be released shortly after launch.
So now I've purchased my gear in the AH. Fantastic. Wait, no it isn't. It completely contradicts the ARPG genre. Instead of being rewarded for my time and effort into killing those shiny yellow and bold blue mobs with an upgrade, I receive a golden ticket to log out of the game and reward myself with a hefty burden of browsing the auction house. Oh fun. Now that I've put the effort into killing these mobs I get to put even more time into rummaging through this annoying storefront. Just fantastic.
Or you could have the willpower to actually farm. Pretty sure you didn't just play through the highest difficulty once in other ARPGs and end up with TEH GUD GEER!
Good god, none of you have any will power whatsoever.
I've purchased like 3 items off of the AH and I'm on the last quest of A3 Inferno, playing legit, by myself. (As in I didn't abuse that stupid ass SS/prep shit) -

Exogen posted a message on Hey There Belial [Song lyrics]Hey there BelialPosted in: Diablo III General Discussion
What's it like in Caldeum City ?
Hell's a thousand miles away
But man you sure do own this city
Yes you do
Diablo can't hit as hard as you
I swear it's true
Hey there Belial
Don't you worry about the distance
I'm right there for you to smash me
Give this man another beating
Lord of Lies
Throw me up into the skies
It's no surprise
Oh, what'd you do to me
Oh, what'd you do to me
Oh, what'd you do to me
Oh, what'd you do to me
What'd you do to me ?
Hey there Belial
I know you are getting bored
But just believe me, man
Someday I'll throw you out of the bazaar
When I am good
You'll bite the dust just like you should
Oh, if I could...
Hey there Belial
So many repair bills to pay
If every simple note I sang to you
Would take your life away
I'd sing it all
From very high above you'd fall
I'd have it all
Oh, what'd you do to me
Oh, what'd you do to me
Oh, what'd you do to me
Oh, what'd you do to me
What'd you do to me ?
A thousand times in this Bazaar
I've died and died it's gone too far
I'll come to you and take your life away
My friends just all make fun of me
And I'm raging hardcore because I know
That none of them have felt this way
Belial I can promise you
That by the time that we get through
Your world will never ever be the same
And you're to blame
Hey there Belial
You stay there and don't you leave me
Two more tries and I'll be done with you
And you'll be just a bad memory, think it's due
You know it's all because of you
I can do whatever I want to
Hey there Belial here's to you
This one's for you
Oh, what'd you do to me
Oh, what'd you do to me
Oh, what'd you do to me
Oh, what'd you do to me
What'd you do to me ?
PS: Sing it to Hey There Delilah from Plain White T's
PPS: If you have musical and vocal skills sufficient to cover this...please, make it happen. -

mavfin posted a message on Lvl 60. Items are not worth that much goldThere's really only a few rules for the AH on pricing:Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
1) If it's priced too high, it won't sell. They'll get it back in 48 hours. If it sells, it's not overpriced
2) If you don't like the lowest price, farm it up yourself. Don't bitch how someone else prices it. See rule 1.
3) No one has a divine right to not be undercut, and/or make X amount of profit. If you don't like someone who prices stuff lower than you, you are always free to buy up their stock, and raise the price on it, assuming the risk yourself. If you don't want to do that, don't whine. -

Plocer posted a message on Blues and yelows much better than legendary and sets itemsSince blues are way more common than rares and legendarys, you see more rolls on those gear in the game, meaning they have a higher chance of rolling higher only because they drop so often. Legendarys/sets and rares can roll just as high of damage and stats, BUT also have more affixes to roll even extra stuff, overall will make them better. They are harder to find, so in the game, there is a much lower chance of them rolling high stats COMPARED to blues because they are dropped way less.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
level 60 legendarys usually roll decent damage as a baseline
if legendarys always rolled higher than blues and rares, rares and blues would be seen as too weak, and complaints would be made the other way around. -

I am tired of pussy games without challenges. I am giggling with glee when I get gibbed. I laughed my ass off, as I unloaded on the butcher with my little wiz, and he proceeded to grapple me into the fire basically squashing me in about 2 seconds. LAUGHED.
I understand the appeal of being overpowered, but I think people can't see past their noses in that regard. I like to pick the underdogs simply for that reason, and to see if I can't make it work.
In a game like this, challenging is *good*. I could understand if it was extreme, and some spells didn't flat out work, but I'm level 20 right now, and I've certainly not felt underpowered, and I don't even have the best spells yet.
TLDR: challenging is more interesting than being overpowered. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

I hope not. I'm completely addicted to chatting here for some reason. Of all the places on the internet. LOL
Just such interesting personalities on here.
Oh, and Trombone, I'm sure lots of people listen to you, in some voice or other. You're a smart, open minded, objective person. A bit atypical in a good way. LOL!

I do think glitches and hacks should be reported to Blizzard. But I don't think posting them here is ireesponsible. Anythig that becomes such common kowledge that it's discussed publicly on major fan sites, blizzard will probably address quickly anyway. And censoring this site definitely won't reduce hacking. The internet is a very big place and once someone finds a way to hack this game, word will spread.
When it happens, people who are playing by the rules will definitely want to know what is going on.

That seems non-cosntructive and completely backward to me. I think pretty much every point of debate from the PvP side of this discussion has been answered logically and politely at some point. And some PvPers have been rational and talked constructively too. Then you have posts like this. In my experience, when someone starts raging and trying to bully their way through a debate on cheep insults and testosterone, it is because they know they don't have answeres and fall back on intimidation.
Sorry if I'm being equally non-cosntructive, but the character of this post is just highly annoying.

The game is designed to be fast paced. You are not supposed to have to stop and go through menus to respecc skills or runes to win a fight. Blizzard put in the cool downs, and made respeccing end your NV buff, both to discourage this kind of slow play. The skills you have selected will not always be optimal, but it should always be at least possible to win without respeccing. That is clearly what they are going for. The free respeccs are so you can test and decide what you want to use. They are not setting up the game so that you have to stop fighting and respecc constantly to match immunities/resistances.

I aggree that it is what you would have to do to balance it. But there are problems. The gear is part of your build. Your skills and playstyle are largely supported by specific equipment decisions. So you are taking a lot of depth out of the game when gear is decided based on what is available within a match.
