guys guys guys. the whole point of blizzard making diablo 3 entirely online is so that they can control who goes online when. if you get the physical copy early, sure, you can probably install the full client before people with digital downloads, but you wont be able to get online or play the game at ALL because you cant log on!
now, quit arguing please and just post stuff to distract me from the clock
All I'm saying is that it is highly likely that when you click INSTALL on your physical copy, the game will ping the server to see if it is online.
well you can prob install the game without internet access, so i doubt it requires a ping to just install the client, even unencrypted. But honestly, your guess is as good as mine because its not like i know something you dont haha

If you go invis, how could they follow you? Would they seriously just stand around, and then run after you once you turn visible, despite being clearly off the screen?
i'd be interested to hear if they'd follow someone who goes invis and then out of line of sight. anyone know of a post on this topic?
ya i have been trying to come up with a good way to collect data, that seems to be the key issue. a bot that sniffs the game will most definitely get you in some dirt with warden. manual input seems slow and tedious and susceptible to human error...
yeah had the same problem. I'm just manually inputting things, should take like 20 minutes of searching the AH and typing a day. I prob wont do it every day but i'll try haha.
I'm not good with making addons or anything technical like that, but (if it doesnt violate the eula) if someone made something that would monitor, record, and export to excel all the prices and quantities on the AH at various time, so you could see how much is going on the AH at a time, how that affects prices of other goods, etc etc.
I liked it. mobile, dots, hit em, stun, rend and run... tho lets be honest, in inferno every barb will be using the 15% magic find from demoralizing shout haha...
Curious if anyone in the community has worked on economic models before. I would love to know their insight into all the limitations and gold sinks that Diablo has in effect and how that will drive the value of virtual goods in D3.
im working on something to record various prices per item / per gold over time to see how it goes from release to a stable situation. looking forward to having some fun making models and stuff based on the fluctuations in market pricing and stuff haha
hit me up if anyone wants to collaborate or discuss
edit: oh, i'm a rising senior majoring in economics
I think that melee classes will do OK in inferno compared to ranged classes, but the style of play will be very different. much more of a "keep the mobs occupied while ranged dps" sort of situation in inferno. Soloing will be especially difficult as melee
Blizzard wants players to be able to fight each other, but they DON'T want there to be repercussions for losing. As they've said, d3 is first and foremost a cooperative game, and they want the focus on killing monsters with your friends, not beating other people.
but they're adding pvp because people like fighting each other. They dont want the focus of gamers to be "step 1, beat the game, step 2, gear up for arena." They want it to remain "step 1, beat normal with friends. step 2, beat nightmare with friends. step 3, beat hell with friends. step 4, spend eternity trying to clear inferno. and if you get bored, step 5, mess around in a free-play (or team play), gurubashi-arena style pvp"
If I might make a suggestion to your schedule, i'd say go 8 hours sleep - 16 hours gameplay. that extra 2 hours of sleep should make a HUGE difference in alertness, persistence, and honestly you'll just enjoy it more.
