problem is that too many people put up things that no one will buy at high prices. so if they increased it to 20, 30, or whatever then we would just have millions more items sitting there that no one will buy.

one reason is that most people don't understand which stat selection is truly desirable for others. you end up seeing lots of crap.

the other reason is that when a stat selection seems nice (maybe it isn't even that great) the seller gets blinded by greed and goes ape shit with the 0s

how do you want the game to be difficult? if someone is willing to play a game 10+ hours a day how do you make a game difficult that doesn't include some ridiculous arbitrary blocking mechanism?

one thing that WoW proved is you can't prevent dedicated gamers from beating something quickly unless you put timers on it like with the Lich King. otherwise it's impossible.

there's no such thing as making something require more skill because the people playing this game already have tremendous skill that can't be reasonably improved by any means. you're giving a bike rider another bike to ride, not teaching them to crochet instead.

The game isn't over until you beat hardcore inferno. Not someone else. You.

So yeah, it will last a long time. And even then you can always farm and goof off with friends in your spare time.

By the time you do that the 1st expansion will be around the corner.

    pick your 4 favorite skills

those last 2 spots? nothing is better than pets. you already have your best damage spells, and pets do *some* damage, so already they have a dps advantage over everything else that would be doing nothing most of the time. pets are 'always on' defense. no other spell matches that.

no matter what 4 spells you pick or what passives you choose, those 2 spots are for pets if you want the better build. i might play a petless WD at some point just for the fun of it, but i'm going to do so understanding it's significantly worse.

I'm happy with the skill system in beta. The only thing that needs to be done is for elective mode to be less clunky with skill swapping. For those who don't know, you can't move or select a skill if it's already in a slot. So basically you have to play musical chairs to move skills around. The end result is perfectly fine, however.

I'm the very definition of gaming/diablo vet and for the 3 ranged classes I don't even have to put it on elective mode because it's designed exactly the way I would be playing anyhow. Melee is a different story, but I don't like melee anyways so I'll never be happy with those and wasn't with d2.

My gf has never played a diablo kind of game and she picked it up really fast and easy. She loves the wizard and had no trouble learning what to do. So everything they've put in place definitely achieves the goal of getting non-diablo masters the opportunity to learn the game. d3 should be hard to master at the higher difficulties, but that doesn't mean learning how to play should be hard. That part should be easy and it is.

posted a message on Clearly South Korea had no impact on release date
I think before the Korean incident that blizzard had some concerns with d3. There were things they wanted to change and improve. They decided to work on it as they could and patch in changes after release. This is something they'll probably be doing anyways for 2012-13. Then Korea happened. You get comments from blizzard reps like, "we've been given extra time to work on the game". So, they probably started tinkering with stuff that they had planned on messing with all along. So, it's true that Korea isn't what's currently holding the game up. But, Korea is what caused us to get a release date months later than intended.

They've already screwed with stuff too much and it has to be put back together. Korea getting solved doesn't change that, but it caused it in the first place.

If you objectively look at the behavior and statements of blizzard from Sept 2011 through Jan 2012 you cannot logically believe the tripe that Korea had nothing to do with the delay. But, it doesn't matter now. We're now waiting on them to finish screwing with things like the rune system. At this point Korea is pointless in terms of release date.

If you take the position that, "Blizzard will release the game when it's done" then you are also taking the position that Blizzard won't patch in changes after release. If Blizzard does patch in changes then it immediately invalidates that entire line of reasoning for why the game was delayed. If they only release something when it's finished then there would never be any need for patches outside of weird bug fixes that didn't previously exist.

excellent. now that it's okay'd for SKorea we won't have too much longer to go. they'll wait an appropriate amount of time to pretend SKorea had nothing to do with the delay then announce a release date.

That's true, some game companies don't give many details about what they're doing. Blizzard uses it as a form of marketing to hype their products. They're not doing it to simply be nice. They do it to increase profit. It works.

This tactic is biting them in the rear a bit with d3. That's why the community is such a mess. There's no room to complain about the community being angst-ridden when blizzard themselves caused it on purpose.

Anyone who's familiar with the political scene or corporate pr sees right through the way they've been behaving. It's 100% evident that they haven't been completely honest. This is why so many people are bothered and frustrated.
